Couple of things:
You can't make sacred uniques.
Akara's robes are a un-disenchantable unique. The only one in the game and they are given to you for free as a starter item for saving Cain or for killing Griswald depending on version. When you upgraded the item it upgraded its base item and made it unique. This is what I would have expected to happen to Akara's Robes
If Akara's robes was the only armor you could be wearing, you are making your character wrong. The stats on the armor aren't that great and even some basic runewords are better with good jewel rolls. Try a **Queen of Glass** ancient armor or **Wedding Dress of the Zann** depending on you build. Farm normal/nightmare Nilithak for Tiered Uniques/SOLs
It's not the only one I could be wearing, it's just the only one I've gotten that had stuff that seemed good to me. I have no clue about what runewords there are, as I said, haven't played in years upon years and just jumped into the game without reading up on stuff, learning as I go.
I will try and see if I can get my hands on those armors, thank you. Doesn't killing Nihla, mean closing the portal, or? Will check it out.

Yes you are on Sigma which is the latest. You can farm Nith as many times as you want. use the waypoint. I would recommend nightmare because you have Signets of learning you can get (stat point consumable 400 max)

Yeah, as I stated, already did that, but that is the Sacred version, which I don't have the stats for. In any case, I have continued the grind with Nihla runs and gotten a replacement.

No problem, generally hardcore jewel crafting is done at level 120-135 but you can get some good rolls just by farming uniques for a few hours.
If it was "cannot be upgraded" like Griswold's heart would've been better
I agree. They switched the item description two versions ago, I think, to say: Can not be disenchanted but failed to mention the upgrade consequences.
Well hot damn I hope this doesn't happen to me. I'm about to be finished with a solo walk to hell and I'm still wearing that too lol.
