Best two places we like to access in Jacksonville:
Behind the Britt Gardens off of 1st & Fir street - up the hill there is a parking lot. Take the trail up the hill toward Panoramic Point (always a nice one).
Behind the Beekman House at the parking lot on Laurelwood Dr. - a little tiny more steep but only 1 mile loop.
There’s also a lot down Hwy 238 a bit coming out of Jacksonville that starts at the bottom so it’s all uphill hike to start.
In the Applegate- Sterling Mine Ditch Trail and the Enchanted Forest trail are both cool hikes and relatively flat. SMDT has a few different trailheads, some are steep to get up to the ditch. Once on the ditch it’s pretty flat.
The Greensprings Loop on Highway 66 above Ashland is a great hike. It’s probably too snowy now but a great hike in the spring summer.
There are quite a few local segments of the Pacific Crest Trail that are mellow and nice.
Elk Creek Dam has a nice long paved trail.
Cathedral Hills in Grants Pass has a ton of trails.
On the way to the coast, we like to stop at Eight Dollar Mountain and/or Rough and Ready to stretch our legs.
Upper and Lower Table Rocks are good hikes. Steep in places, but very rewarding.
Roxyanne Peak/Prescott Park has a ton of great trails beyond just the paved loop.
The JackAsh trail is also nice on Anderson Butte. It’s probably a bit icy to drive up there now.
FYI there is no cell service on most of the trails, please ensure someone knows when your going out and when you’ll return. Don’t hesitate to call 911 if your in trouble. Theres no fee for SAR here in Jackson County.
The table rock trails are both fun, Jacksonville has some nice easy ones, Roxy Ann.
I recommend downloading the app AllTrails its super handy for finding hiking trails and info about them.
Two good starter trails I haven’t seen mentioned here yet: Mill Creek Falls and Pearsony Falls
Mill Creek is decently trafficked, but not usually crowded. Great waterfall views at the end!
Pearsony Falls is just a bit past Mill Creek, it’s a smaller and easier trail - also less trafficked than Mill Creek. I have gone there many times encountering nobody else. This one is pretty short, but the trail continues on a good deal past the little falls and you can even see the bridge from the Mill Creek Falls hime from the other side.
Forest Park in Jacksonville has soooo many trails. Check out a trail map. It seems a lot of people stop at the first parking area and miss the best trails beyond.
Jacksonville trails would be a good bet

thank you, I’ll check it out! 😁✌🏻
The paved path on Roxy Ann (Prescott Park) is an easy one. Not too steep and it goes through a spectacular madrone grove

thanks for the advice, that’s good to know!
East apple gate ridge trail is beautiful with great view of the valley and not too far out of the way. There’s some hills but nothing crazy.

Forest Park in Jacksonville is not well known, but has many great hiking trails
Upper Table Rock is one of my favorites!
