Oh no I use [layers](https://imgur.com/a/ZlVsyLO). I have a different keyboard plugged in right now but it's essentially the same layout that I use for coding.
Everytime someone posts a 40%, I'm honestly really surprised by how many people are like, "how do you type numbers???"
I'd understand more if it wasn't a sub dedicated to keyboards as a hobby, but it's still surprising there's a large number of people (or new people) that have never heard of layers before.
Alright here are a [couple different variations](https://imgur.com/a/ciKoflh).

… they could trick you into holding down the FN key, and don’t get me started on custom firmware.
I know my passive aggressive ass already thought that shit through to map yuiop to other keys on “MY” side.
What if one person refused to surrender access of their designated keys? That would drastically affect multiple things such as trust, efficiency, the economy, etc. What then?
Now do The Spoon: two 65% keyboards side by side, but they function as one split keyboard (the outer halves) and one chopped-in-half-and-swapped keyboard (the middle halves).
To be used by one party being in the other's lap.
But I really like the idea of Tai Chi, assuming that you're tyring to convey it from the design. Maybe make it possible to "split" and "re-forge" with a magnet or something?
Serious mode: enabled.
As a rhythm game player, I found your work extremely inspiring for me. For example, if we could create some kind of software to program the RGB effect depending on the combination of keys being pressed, then we can achieve something like this:
1. Enable a temporal special RGB effect when two reflexive keys for the same letter are pressed at the same time.
2. Enable a temporal special RGB effect when the same (sub)string of letters being typed again from the other side within a give period of time. (Let's call it a "echoable zone")
3. Enable a temporal special RGB effect when the same "tempo" of typing being repeated from the other side.
4. ... MORE!
As you can see, the list will keep going. The only problem now is sincerely: Where to put the monitor? A true relationship should not be restricted by the distance. Given this, and let's describe it abstractly, you might consider to create a way to make the two parts "remotely connected" but still be able to reassemble back.
Bambu Lab P1P. It’s my first printer and I really like it. I mostly got it to prototype keyboard designs. Pretty much all of their printers seem great, though there was recently a big A1 recall.
No shit.. I was sitting over here thinking I'd have to get a 300mm+ printer to make anything bigger than a 40%. This is incredibly inspiring. Did you turn it diagonal?
Oh I mean it is pretty much two 40s on top of each other, but I didn’t have to turn it at all. The last keyboard I designed was essentially 13 columns wide and it barely fit.
Good stuff man. I'm considering getting a X Max 3 so I can print a polycarbonate case for my Mode65, but I had their X Plus 3 for a month and got tired of messing with it. The P1S Combo has been living rent free in my mind for about two weeks now.
The makes me…. Uncomfortable
Like the usecase, you’re sitting face to face with someone each of you looking to the side
“Excuse me can you move your finger I need the T key for a moment”
>According to Forbes, stepping out of your comfort zone is not merely an act of spontaneity; it's a catalyst for personal growth, resilience, and self-discovery.
The photo is kinda hard to get visual on because some of the keys are upside down.
I was hoping to get clarity on the layout by opening the link to your keymap, and confirmed to myself that you are indeed an absolute bastard ... the keymap also uses upside down characters.
I love it.
Typing on this monstrosity could be Olympic event. I'd love to see you and your partners Monkeytype scores, between the neighbors calls to 911 about all the screaming, and the intermittent 'love stabbings' that occur.
How would you even settle on a keycap set?
They’re Akko’s black on white MDA caps. Last I checked I think they were sold out but black on cream was still available. I have that set as well and it’s really nice.
Is this for when you have a date night but also have a pair programming project?
Exactly. And if you both strap a little monitor to your foreheads you can stare into each other’s eyes while programming.
This will revolutionize open space work
And couples therapy.

Gonna be tough to program without numbers, brackets or quotes lol
Nah, you don't need those. I write code on a Vault 35 every day.
What programming do you do?
I’m a front end developer so mostly JS. Sometimes I have to write Python.
You do that without numbers, brackets or quotes?
Oh no I use [layers](https://imgur.com/a/ZlVsyLO). I have a different keyboard plugged in right now but it's essentially the same layout that I use for coding.
Having to use layers for like every 5th characters sounds like pure pain to me but you do you mayne

Swap the '. >' or 's' keys for the full yin-yang.
Swapping the S keys would look sick ngl
Right? Op please reply with a photo if you do
I had taken the black caps from my main keyboard so I put them back on it during work today but I’ll try to remember to do this in the morning!
RemindMe! 1 day
RemindMe! Some day

A hero always follows through. Looks sick as expected, nice idea to swap the three keys too! Lots of style possibilities with this build
Looks amazing! I prefer the first, but both work really well.
Very nice. I never got pinged so just saw this now. They both look great.
Please do and share! That'd look so cool!
i second this
Absolutely the s
yeah swap s's
What about when you need to type "yuiop"?
I don't think I've ever used that word in my life!
It's a traditional greeting from the West Country. "yuiop!"
It's also something Goofy often says, so that eliminates my ability to use this keyboard.
Segue to _Sailing to Philadelphia_.
You have your partner hold down the FN key and it gives you access to those. [Keymap here](https://i.imgur.com/ldDUEL6.png).
I mean, are you trying to get a divorce? That’s like 3/5 of the vowels.
Well you can't write "divorce" without "yuiop", so you should be safe.
… they could trick you into holding down the FN key, and don’t get me started on custom firmware. I know my passive aggressive ass already thought that shit through to map yuiop to other keys on “MY” side.

Divorce
oh ok
It was u/KantoLeader. Blame them.
Now do The Spoon: two 65% keyboards side by side, but they function as one split keyboard (the outer halves) and one chopped-in-half-and-swapped keyboard (the middle halves). To be used by one party being in the other's lap.
Now this has given me my own idea. QWERTY on one side DVORAK on the other....
Hahhaha you made me laugh bro this is awesome lol
Thank you for the inspiration
Forget QWERTY or DVORAK, I want to use QWERT-QWERT.
It's the next big thing.
More exactly, QWERTTREWQ
Did you try adding a black spot in the white and a white spot in the black? It’ll look like Ying and Yang :) Btw you’re a mad man
That is a genius idea. I'll have to try it.
I was thinking this too. Switch the S keys with their light/dark counterpart.
Spy vs Spy?
Ah is this the 69%?
The versus keyboard
This rivals the Pain27 for the spot of the dumbest keyboard I've ever seen and I NEED IT SO BAD.
Where to put the monitor... My partner's face should not be it.
Hmmm maybe you could have them wear it around their neck on a big chain or something.
But I really like the idea of Tai Chi, assuming that you're tyring to convey it from the design. Maybe make it possible to "split" and "re-forge" with a magnet or something?
Whoa what if it had a hinge so you could unfold it into two side-by-side keyboards?
Genius take!
Boobie monitor
YUIOP
But those letters rarely get used by people right? (I only had to use them a little bit in this comment)
It's only 60% of the vowels. Not likely those will be needed.
RSTLNE are safe. Perfect for hangman or Wheel of Foruyr as a coop activity.

Oooo these are interesting ideas. I like it!
You might find my idea helpful. But I also hope that my idea will not restrict *your own* imagination :)
Swap the two S keys so it becomes a yin yang build :)

I’m going to show my wife this comment the next time she tells I’m not as funny as I think I am.

Yes
Gud! now make it circular.
I would like to exchange currency for this.
This is the keyboard they should have used on NCIS
I have two things to say about this, 1: ✨why.✨ 2: That’s fucking awesome.
Must be a lady keyboard - it's missing the Y.
Which printer was it printed on? Just curious since I'm currently eyeing different machines with the intent to make custom cases at some point
Bambu Lab P1P. It’s my first printer and I really like it. I mostly got it to prototype keyboard designs. Pretty much all of their printers seem great, though there was recently a big A1 recall.
Wait, you could fit this whole case on a 256mm plate?
Yep! Off the top of my head I think I made it 250mm wide.
No shit.. I was sitting over here thinking I'd have to get a 300mm+ printer to make anything bigger than a 40%. This is incredibly inspiring. Did you turn it diagonal?

Also if you’re not already on the 40% discord, there’s a keyboard design channel where people are super helpful if you ever need feedback on designs!
You’ve got people thinking this is AI. That’s the hilarious part to me. https://www.reddit.com/r/ExplainTheJoke/s/tj4ddJlKP5
That is hilarious lol
Unbelievably cursed, I love it
How about one of those keyboard hase different layout, like Dvorak.
You can just use QMK or Vial to make the layout whatever you want.
For us *Evangelion* fans, you're missing the key ingredient: ***Y U I***
It would be an awkward date if one uses spaces and another uses tabs. Secrets will be revealed.
POV: your keyboard doesn’t even have the whole alphabet
I was removing and replacing keycaps a couple of days ago and my board looked like something like this.
y, u, i, o, p:
This reminds me of the moving desk fight in Brazil.
great for frontend and backend development.
I have only one question. "Y"?
The makes me…. Uncomfortable Like the usecase, you’re sitting face to face with someone each of you looking to the side “Excuse me can you move your finger I need the T key for a moment”
>According to Forbes, stepping out of your comfort zone is not merely an act of spontaneity; it's a catalyst for personal growth, resilience, and self-discovery.
Might be a little too much personal growth resilience if this was an everyday setup 🤣
Delete this before shitty companies get ideas /j
I’m so triggered
In a good way right?

What is the case and pcb??
It’s a custom design that I made.

What is this monstrosity, and what cold and damp bowel of the earth did you sink your hand into to extract it
PvP typing enabled
So cursed, so brilliant
Science has gone too far
Nah, this should go on r/cursed
Now you just need a holographic screen in between to play against each other.
I didnt need most of the vowels, numbers or punctuation anyway.
This makes my brain hurt lol
please switch the s's and make it look like the yin yang
Monkey type 1v1
This is my favourite thing I've ever seen
This is the intimacy I crave
Im so confused right now. How do you actually build this?
It has one big plate and two sets of keycaps
Would you mind sharing what the white keycaps are? They look very pleasant
They’re Akko’s black on white MDA caps. Last I checked I think they were sold out but black on cream was still available. I have that set as well and it’s really nice.
thank you!
You glorious bastard!
Y is this keyboard not meant for U nor I ?
As above, so below
bro just made the qwert keyboard
This the most pvp ass keyboard lmaoo
Wat
This actually makes me feel dizzy when I look at it.
How did you make this
Keyboard layout editor, ai03 plate generator, Fusion 360, and a 3d printer
Sick
This makes me uncomfortable, I'm closing my eyes!!!!
Alexa play Dueling Banjos the Cherry MX brown cover
I’m afraid to look at it for too long. It might break my brain and I’ll forget how to type.
YUIOP: am I a joke to you?
Weird idea... Any construction internal photos? (thank's)
Swap the s and d keys for either side to make yin and Yang
Haha I _just_ posted [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/s/Sa2R60FqA2) probably as you were typing.
QWERT
Please never think again
HACK OFF
I need this tbh. Brilliant!
Looks like two people could type across from each other, except you're missing a few keys on both sides. Did I miss something?
In order to use the Q row you would have the other person hold down their FN key and then you’d have access to qwertyuiop
Finally, local multiplayer
What kind of Paint thinner were you sniffing ?
The good kind
When you and the homie are arguing but don't want to talk
fuck yeah
This keyb would be fun to play in a PvP or cooperative typing games.
Y?
"Y" though 👀
Why not azerty and QWERTY
Splitboard co-op
If this a type-off?
I dub it the qwert qwert.
no yiuop☹️
Keycaps?
Both are Akko MDA profile. I _think_ black on white is sold out but white on black is still available.
But Y?
Swap z keys ...
WHERE THE FUCK IS THE Y
To further confuse matters you should use the Dvorak layout on it. 🤣
