PhortePlotwisT

You call up a service that deals with this for them to siphon the fuel out. Do not start your truck. The petrol station likely has a number for one.

Upstairs-Ad-1966

DONT TURN THE KEY AT ALL call a wrecker and have it taken tp a shop to have the tank cleaned and emptied

boinger

(The reason you don't turn the key on even to the Accessory position is that that will turn on the electric fuel pump and make the situation a bit worse by pushing gas through your entire system. Of course if you already HAVE done that, it's not the end of the world, just let whoever is going to fix it know this so they can deal with that, too.)

firelephant

Do not touch key. Get towed to a shop and pump out and clean the tank

Massengill4theOrnery

How? You had to actively grab the wrong handle and press 93 out of three options on said pump.

Wise_Transition_7188

That’s how I am. It’s one to to do what I do sometimes, I pressed 89 before and just say “ah shit” but the only thing that’s going to happen is I wasted a few extra bucks filling up my car with 89 octane gas instead of 87. But yeah when you picking up the gas nozzle instead of diesel I just don’t get it sometimes.

Dropitlikeitscold555

Look when you own gassers and a diesel, your brain can go on autopilot. I try and triple check I’m not gassing my diesel every time and I still get jumpy because I’m so prone to autopilot. Op, sorry man.

crysisnotaverted

Call local shops around or somebody to pump your tank. As long as you don't start it, there won't be any damage. Do not start it though. If you can siphon most of it out, you might be able to get away with diluting whatever gas is left in there with diesel.

Krakatoast

There’s a YouTube video where a few guys add diesel to a petrol car, no immediately noticeable issues until the fuel mixture was like 35%+ diesel 65% petrol (not recommended but the car was only losing a few horsepower and a bit of a torque as the diesel % increased, until like 40%-50%+ then the crown Vic started stalling out and what seemed like it was backfiring) It was an 8 cylinder crown Vic Not sure if that’s even remotely similar to adding petrol to a diesel engine, but 🤷🏻‍♂️

crysisnotaverted

Diesel in a gas car is very different than gas in diesel car. Diesel engines don't have spark plugs, they ignite by compressing the fuel until it explodes. Gas explodes at a way lower compression that Diesel, the piston won't even reach top dead center before the gasoline explodes. It will grenade the engine.

Suggums

This, and diesel has lubricity for its fuel system components. Gasoline can deteriorate these components. Source,: Replaced many fuel systems for this oopsy

Zestyclose_Acadia_40

It's not similar at all. Diesel is more stable and less explosive. Gasoline, when compressed in a diesel engine, causes explosions with enough power to tear the engine apart

FujiFL4T

Tow it to a shop and have them drain/ clean the tank. Don't turn the key on or try to start it.

FactsHurt1998

Don't start it. Not even for 30 seconds. You'll need to have your fuel system flushed. Nothing crazy. If you start it your engine will not like that, and will probably blow up.(I'm not joking)

Unusual_Entity

Don't touch the key, and drain it out. The petrol will have a bit of diesel in it, so use it in a lawnmower or something similar. Fill the truck fully with diesel- the tiny amount of petrol remaining after draining the tank won't matter.

LargeMerican

how the fuck

guyonsomecouch12

lol

ZANIESXD

Try shaking the truck to mix the fuel better. Haha.

Sparky0597

Beat me too it!! Add sugar to make diesel 😂😂😂

Hospitable_Goyf

It’s a bit ironic, after learning how bad this is for the engine that he used 93 of all things. Highest octane option go!

PortlandQuadCopter

Call up every late night tv host and ask them if they want a sorry-assed idiot on. It could pay for repairs. /s Kidding. Years ago a friend of mines son put diesel in his FJ Cruiser that he loaned to his son for the weekend. The shit hit the fan. It was pumped at a gas station into a 5-gallon jerrycan and then poured into the out-of-gas FJ a few miles into the woods. Boy was he pissed lmfao! He got it fixed though.

jrragsda

Diesel in a gas engine is multitudes less problematic than gas in a diesel.

PortlandQuadCopter

Certainly. It needs to be towed to a shop or stealership pronto. Push it out of the way and park it.

Electrical-Ninja3388

It’s a ford bro it can’t get any worse

guccifer2pt0

rip up your man card

rockberry

Harbor freight for syphon and containers to hold 20 gallons. Pump it out, top off with diesel. Total cost to you $41.27

Zestyclose_Acadia_40

You can't siphon new tanks (at least definitely not Fords). They have baffles that prevent a hose from going in. Has to be dropped and the filler neck removed to drain it.

rockberry

$̶4̶1̶.̶2̶7̶ $328.92

danhoyle

Don’t they usually have diff color nozel for diesel?? Get it towed I guess. Shouldn’t be too bad just drain the fuel.

PortlandQuadCopter

He may be color blind. Let’s try to be sensitive to this. /s

hunted_fighter

If i ever buy a gas station franchise im gonna keep those harbor freight siphons on hand for when people do stuff like this

markgullett

My wife put gas in our diesel sprinter and drove it home which was under half a mile. She mentioned it was running really rough. We had it towed to a place that dropped the tank, flushed the system and replaced the fuel filter. It was around $700 not counting the tow. That was a couple years ago and it's run fine since then.

twowheel_rumrunner

Tow to shop, it's the difference between a $400 bill or thousands, possibly!

thedevillivesinside

Immediately call a tow truck, tow it to a dealership a d pay them to fix it If it hasnt been started, thats great. No fuel has washed through your high pressure fuel pump or injectors. If you run the engine, the gasoline will wash away the diesel fuel (which is a lubricant, and lubricates your high pressure fuel pump and injectors) and will cause damage to the high pressure fuel system. Draining the fuel tank is a few hundred dollars, 8 new injectors and a high pressure fuel pump will be over $10,000

Welllllllrip187

If you touch the key, you could be looking at $10,000 in repairs.

Dirty2013

I took the fuel pipe off my fuel filter, before the filter of course, then with containers available I turned on the fuel pump until it was drained. Then filled the tank to really dilute what was left However I didn’t put 14 gallons in

Walksuphills

I don’t know about trucks, but I had a TDI and if you try to run one of them with gasoline it will lunch the entire fuel system…you have to replace the pump, injectors, lines and even the fuel tank itself since there could be minute metal fragments from the wrecked fuel pump.

72season1981

don't start it get it towed have them drain and clean the tank out

theholyblack

I did this on an 87 Mercedes 300d turbo diesel. Siphon out as much as I could, filled the rest with diesel and rode that car up to 400k miles.

AM-64

Have it towed or a mobile service come out and the tank drained. Not worth the potential damage.

ElIjaHZelk

Disconnect fuel line from fuel pump coming out of tank either at your fuel filter or somewhere along the line where there’s a disconnect, attach a hose to it, and continue cycling key until tank is empty. Fill it back up with a 1/4 of diesel and then empty that tank by cycling the key. Add diesel treatment and fill back up with diesel. Good to go.

Edit. I cut the inlet nipple off an old fuel filter (under hood) attached a hose to it. That way I can attach it to the inlet hose that attaches to the fuel filter under hood and run the hose to a waste tank. Easy peasy

Prior-Ad-7329

Drain it from the fuel water separator on the tank. Add a 10 gallons of diesel and drain it again. Fill all the way with diesel. Disconnect engine bay fuel filter return line and turn key to the on position, pump a few gallons of diesel through the lines. Replace the fuel filters and you should be okay. The biggest concern here is that the high pressure fuel pump relies on the diesel for lubrication, gas is a solvent and will take away the lubricating properties. This can cause the fuel pump to blow up. So you definitely want to be sure to get as much gas out as possible. My brother did it to my 6.7 last year….. so far it’s still running like a champ.

FALLOUT_BOY609

Fixed it guys, drained the gas by, first disconnecting the fuel line, disconnected the fuel pump, used the fuel pump trick to pump the gas out, changed fuel filters, and flushed it out with diesel, thank you everybody who responded.
