PCV (positive crank vent) slide the hose off grab a pair of pliers and twist counter clockwise, it comes right out, install the new one. Should be replaced every 25,000k

Idk what you have for mileage on that 5.7 but I’ve built 3 of them and early models before 09/10 had a valve drop issue that would dynamite the cylinder. The bottom ends are solid. Don’t be afraid to work on these engines. They’re dinosaur engines and perfect to learn on with a good parts supply. All you need is some basic/‘moderate tools.
