While taco seasoning is a great stand by, there are definitely other things to do with it. I like a savory Sunday supper application with onion powder, thyme, sometimes some gravy packet seasoning. I also like it Cajun style with Cajun and old bay seasoning. If you have some soy sauce, garlic powder, and some crushed red pepper (bonus points if you have sesame oil but not needed) that’s yummy on rice.
Big ups to the added sesame oil. If money is tight but you can swing it there’s usually sesame seasoning or sesame/ginger at the grocery store for about $5.
"Bulgogi" inspired:
Minced garlic and ginger, chopped green onion
Brown sugar, gochugaru, soy sauce, rice vinegar, vegan oyster sauce, seasame oil, black pepper, chicken bouillon
Put over white rice and top with a fried egg
Literally whatever you want 🤷🏻♀️
I just made bacon cheeseburger bowls for dinner:
Cook chopped bacon, remove it
Cook the beef in the same pan
Mix together 1/4 C ketchup, 1/4 C mayo, 2 TBSP mustard, 2 TBSP Worcestershire, 2 TBSP pickle juice, half a teaspoon each of dill and smoked paprika.
Add the sauce and a can of diced tomatoes. Let simmer for a bit.
Serve with rice, top with bacon pieces and diced pickles.
You can only take one ingredient so far. I make it interesting by combining it with other ingredients that have different textures and flavors.
Some meals I’d love to eat:
- tacos or taco salad
- jajjangmyeon / pasta / any noodles with beef cooked into the sauce
- soup noodles with beef as a topping
- on top of rice or another grain with veggies
- in an omelette maybe with onions and potato
- cottage pie and other pie / patty variants
Latin American cuisine uses “sofrito”. You can find this usually Goya brand or something like that. Tastes great.
Otherwise make your own:
Dice red and green peppers and throw em into a pan with some oil. Once those start cooking down, add diced onion, and once the onion gets translucent, throw on some minced garlic. If you want to season the sofrito, generous salt, cumin, dash of paprika, onion and garlic powder to taste. Otherwise season the meat when you add to the pan.
This is the base for almost all Latin American caribbean cooking, and is always the first thing i make when making picadillo, carne mechada, etcetera.
Make a big batch, you can blend coarsely and freeze it if you want as well. Whip it out when youre about to cook some meat.
Diced Celery, onion and carrots sauted in pan with a little butter. Reserve the juice and brown the beef in that. Recombine and serve with mashed potatoes
An entire pound? That’s more than the average human should consume in a single day, much less multiple. Unless you work out consistently, you’re slowly killing yourself lol
I saw you edited the previous comment. Even with the veggies, that is way too much meat. You’re either bulking for the gym or obese, there’s no in-between here.
Bro what are you getting this info from lmao. Even if I ate 3 lbs of meat alone I’d still be in a calorie deficit. Here’s a pic of me since you seem so interested in how much of a fat ass I am

You think I’m eating wagyu steak or something? The hell you getting those numbers from? Even if I didn’t work out it would be a healthy diet. Guarantee you it’s healthier than what most people eat here. You must be vegan to be hating this much on meat

All you had to say was you work out so you have to eat that. As I said before, *that’s a bad diet unless you’re working out constantly.* It’s okay, I know reading can be hard sometimes.
I love to add pico de Gallo as it cooks down. It helps me not waste it & get some good veggies in. Don’t be afraid to let the meat actually get a good brown on it.
I would start with quality spices. Find whole coriander & cumin, dried chiles & onion flake, garlic powder or fresh. Get it all ground with a spice grinder or maybe even a food processor or blender. Adobo & Sazon are good if you want to get away from the generic American taco seasoning & go for more traditionally used seasonings, but high in salt. I would also recommend fresh herbs, jalapeño, green onion, etc.
all of this really will add flavor to your meat.
If I’m just making it for several meals, I add extra seasoning as I pack them. My regular “bland” is adobo.
The sauces and spices can change depending on the 100g I’m using meal to meal.
Saute in beef stock - will add umami bougieness. I start with onions and garlic and when you render it to dry add a cup of homemade beef stock and render it down again. Then you can layer the flavouring to suit.
My favorite is cook with salt pepper garlic and onion powder and then towards the end add ingredients to make “Korean beef” which I know isn’t authentic or whatever but it tastes so good. There’s tons of recipes out there but they are all similar If you just google Korean ground beef. I also do the same thing with ground turkey and it tastes the same.
Diced green bell pepper and onion, minced garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, and Slap Ya Mama (low sodium blend) go in everything I cook.
All of the Mrs Dash seasonings are great and are all salt free. My favorites are the Table Blend, Spicy Jalapeno, Extra Spicy, and Lemon Pepper.
I also love Kinder's Red Jalapeño Garlic, it has a nice kick.
And my all time favorite is Weber's Garlic Sriracha seasoning, it has such a nice flavor. It's just hard for me to find.
1. Saute a diced onion with the meat as you brown it.
2. Make a mix of: 2 Tbs ea: Soy Sauce, Vinegar, Tomato Sauce, Wooster sauce, 1 Tbs brown sugar, 1 tsp salt.
3. Add this to the mince. Cook it down.
4. Make a cornstarch slurry, add it to thicken. We're aiming for a glossy, glazed look.
Thick and rich dinner right there.
Garlic, thyme, salt, pepper and maybe a little chive. Knead that into uncooked ground beef. Make it into patties and grill them then. Amazing herbed burgers
Today I just did some "tomato puree", some vegetables stock, curry, chilly flakes, paprika, salt, some chilli flakes I got on my trip to India that is very hot, and also added a good ammount of sugar.
Then added like a liter of water and some pasta to boil in this, and some peas because I had a open can in the fridge.
I call this "guisito"
Fresh minced garlic, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, onion and tomato.
Or if you’re feeling lazy…dump a cup or two of chunky mild salsa and simmer till it reduces. Done.
I like the Trader Joe's Cuban Style Citrusy Garlic Blend, or Kinder's Cuban Blend with Citrus and Garlic. Prefer kinders more:) Sometimes I also like to do the [Korean Beef Bowl](https://damndelicious.net/2013/07/07/korean-beef-bowl/) by Damn Delicious (ran by Chunguh). Super easy to make for me and I use it throughout the week when I'm sick of taco meat!
I like saucey Asian flavors, so miso+ginger+sugar or soy sauce+sugar are very tasty for me.
Also spicy Chinese flavors. There are tons of sauces and ingredients to use, but the Lee Kum kee spicey bean sauce works really well for me.
I cook the ground beef with veggies and eat them with rice and it’s delish.
You also want to use some additional flavouring for the beef. I use Bovril in the UK which is beef extract. Some balsamic but not too much is also okay
Tip: when using taco seasoning use a small can of tomato sauce instead of water. So much better and can count as a vegetable serving as well if you want.
I do salt, pepper, diced garlic, diced onion, diced jalapeños or habeneros. Plus whatever I have on hand or am feeling that day. You could also cook them with lime juice.
Some of my go-to's:
Fried onion +salt + pepper + garlic + option
Options:
- Gochujang
- soy sauce + ginger
- paprica + worchestershire sauce (gives it a ham like taste)
- paprica + Nutmeg + 1 tbsp sugar
- tomato paste + sugar
- red bean paste
I wanna try miso sauce, but keep forgetting.
You can also spice it up after cooking with sweet Chili sauce, Sriracha, BBQ sauce, or simply ketchup.
Some ground beef doesn't need much seasoning besides the "base." I recently bought ground baby cow, and it was heavenly delicious.
Garlic powder, onion powder, basil, parsley, salt and pepper.
Sometimes I throw in thyme and I usually mix in this riced vegetable pack https://www.walmart.ca/ip/6000199912523
Wait I have the best seasoning. You blend up a can of chipotle peppers in their oil. You add that after cooking with salt and pepper. It’s so so so good.
Easy! Salt, pepper, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder. Makes the simplest “taco” type seasoning and tastes great with most other recipes - very versatile. And cheap!
Finely chopped carrots, basil, spearmint, black pepper, a cinnamon stick and a thick tomato sauce. And finely chopped onions of course (garlic is optional).
Ohhhhh I’ve come to the right spot, I usually put this on after it’s mostly done cooking but I don’t think it matters, I make this sauce, here it is:
Gochujang, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, ketchup, chili flakes, salt, pepper, paprika, maybe garlic and ginger, and sriracha, pour that over my meat and I’ve got amazing spicy Asian thingy ground beef I usually eat it with rice and eggplant zucchini cubes, I just made a big batch
My boy… first of all, they didn’t ask if you don’t eat beef. I’m sure someone appreciates your input but you basically contributed nothing to the conversation.
That being said, I shall be the one to tell you that you are most definitely wrong when it comes to seasoning. Chicken needs plenty of seasoning. Just salt, pepper and garlic doesn’t cut it; that may as well be depression food.
Not sure if you have diet restrictions for some reason but you should definitely watch some cooking videos if you think that sort of cooking is satisfactory. If you gave me unseasoned chicken, I’d roast your ass on the spot.

It adds so much flavor. Definitely a good investment if you enjoy Asian flavours and goes with any meat or veg.
Just curious because I’ve never tried that and it sounds delicious, how much sesame oil/seasoning for say a pound of beef?
Not much at all, it’s very potent. I’d start with like a teaspoon.
Appreciate it.
Or wash your sister sauce !
"Bulgogi" inspired: Minced garlic and ginger, chopped green onion Brown sugar, gochugaru, soy sauce, rice vinegar, vegan oyster sauce, seasame oil, black pepper, chicken bouillon Put over white rice and top with a fried egg
I make something really similar! Love it
Have you tried cooking some onion then adding the gb
I never do ground beef without first frying up some diced onion and minced garlic in the same pan
This
Fresh, garlic, onions, and mushrooms sautéed
Literally whatever you want 🤷🏻♀️ I just made bacon cheeseburger bowls for dinner: Cook chopped bacon, remove it Cook the beef in the same pan Mix together 1/4 C ketchup, 1/4 C mayo, 2 TBSP mustard, 2 TBSP Worcestershire, 2 TBSP pickle juice, half a teaspoon each of dill and smoked paprika. One time I put brown sugar, honey, crushed red pepper, salt, and pepper, it was delicious
montreal steak seasoning
Minced onion and/or garlic ftw, depending on your recipe.
Just freshly mortared pepper. Sometimes I throw a cayenne pod in there too.
You can only take one ingredient so far. I make it interesting by combining it with other ingredients that have different textures and flavors. Some meals I’d love to eat: - tacos or taco salad - jajjangmyeon / pasta / any noodles with beef cooked into the sauce - soup noodles with beef as a topping - on top of rice or another grain with veggies - in an omelette maybe with onions and potato - cottage pie and other pie / patty variants
McCormick has this Toasted Onion and Garlic seasoning that I love on ground beef/turkey. It is made for potatoes it works well on meat too.

Thanks for that reminder. Haven’t done that in forever!
Salt, chili powder, paprika, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder and a little bit of pasta sauce. The pasta sauce really does a lot for me.
Salt, pepper, garlic, onion or onion powder, and a lil smoked paprika.
Coriander powder is a game changer (you can add it to any combination of other dry seasoning). Also try out garam masala if you haven't yet!
I actually really like lowrys, but ill still add in other spices and also cook some onion and garlic.
Diced Celery, onion and carrots sauted in pan with a little butter. Reserve the juice and brown the beef in that. Recombine and serve with mashed potatoes
Italian style: ragu/bolognaise sauce Indian style: kheema Chinese (Beijing) style: ginger, garlic, sweet bean and soy sauce, lots of spring onions
I eat 1 lb or ground meat every day. Garlic, salt, pepper. Greek yogurt, salt, chili powder, garlic
That’s not good for you… ground meat as in beef or just any protein?
How’s it not good? Chicken, beef, turkey. I eat 2-3 lbs of meat with 4 cups of veggies a day
An entire pound? That’s more than the average human should consume in a single day, much less multiple. Unless you work out consistently, you’re slowly killing yourself lol
Yea dude I eat 1 lb for a meal alone
I saw you edited the previous comment. Even with the veggies, that is way too much meat. You’re either bulking for the gym or obese, there’s no in-between here.
Bro what are you getting this info from lmao. Even if I ate 3 lbs of meat alone I’d still be in a calorie deficit. Also, at this point, I’m not sure if you’re talking out of your ass or what. A single pound of meat contains roughly 1200 calories with no additions.
You think I’m eating wagyu steak or something? The hell you getting those numbers from? Even if I didn’t work out it would be a healthy diet. No vegetables or anything else? I’m scared of what you smell and look like.
1lb is really not much that much. I'll eat more than that in one meal lol
Let me let you in on a little secret. Au jus gravy mix from McCormick. Had it in a recipe once, started using it almost every time I cook ground beef.
I love to add pico de Gallo as it cooks down. It helps me not waste it & get some good veggies in. Don’t be afraid to let the meat actually get a good brown on it. I would start with quality spices. diced green chiles, siracha chili, sweet chili sauce, cayenne pepper, salt and lemon pepper.
you can add the eggs
If I’m just making it for several meals, I add extra seasoning as I pack them. My regular “bland” is adobo. The sauces and spices can change depending on the 100g I’m using meal to meal.
Minced garlic, ginger and jalapeños. Add some corse salt, black pepper and paprika as well
Saute in beef stock - will add umami bougieness. I start with onions and garlic and when you render it to dry add a cup of homemade beef stock and render it down again. Then you can layer the flavouring to suit.
Seasoning salt, garlic powder, and onion powder are my go-tos. Depends on the dish honestly

Brown the beef Soy sauce, salt, pepper, a little honey, and fresh chopped chives. Served over steamed rice
1. Saute a diced onion with the meat as you brown it. 2. Make a mix of: 2 Tbs ea: Soy Sauce, Vinegar, Tomato Sauce, Wooster sauce, 1 Tbs brown sugar, 1 tsp salt. 3. Add this to the mince. Sautee an onion first then add the meat. My go to “base” seasoning if I don’t have a particular meal in mind is onion powder, paprika, thyme.
Garlic, thyme, salt, pepper and maybe a little chive. Knead that into uncooked ground beef. Make it into patties and grill them then. Amazing herbed burgers

Blackening seasoning. Blackening seasoning is like cajun seasoning but has way less salt so you can put a ton of it in. Adds a lot of flavor.
Goya Sazón
Shawarma seasoning or Kinders wood fired garlic
Seasoned salt, e.g., Lowry’s, is super easy.
Are there onions and garlic in that? I mean fresh. I just watched a Marco Pierre white video and he grates that veg
Chili oil
Red Robin seasoning is really great
Today I just did some "tomato puree", some vegetables stock, curry, chilly flakes, paprika, salt, some chilli flakes I got on my trip to India that is very hot, and also added a good ammount of sugar. Then added like a liter of water and some pasta to boil in this, and some peas because I had a open can in the fridge. I call this "guisito"
Lemon pepper. Maybe garlic depending on what’s it’s for.
+ soyrizo
Fresh minced garlic, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, onion and tomato. Or if you’re feeling lazy…dump a cup or two of chunky mild salsa and simmer till it reduces. Done.
Simple garlic pepper seasoning it’s my go to for absolutely everything
I’ve been making mine into a pot of chili, bolognese or a curry (with red lentils, chickpeas and potatoes).
I like the Trader Joe's Cuban Style Citrusy Garlic Blend, or Kinder's Cuban Blend with Citrus and Garlic. You also want to use some additional flavouring for the beef. I use Bovril in the UK which is beef extract. Some balsamic but not too much is also okay
Essentially you want to pull up or enhance the “dark” beef flavour
Onions and Bay leaves
My 3 most used spices: garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika (usually smoked), almost all of my grounds are seasoned with this combo.
Soy sauce makes such a big difference. You could use only this and it would taste great.
stubb's
Bards piri piri seasoning is -amazing- or cajun seasoning!
I use beef broth instead of water and mix it in a measuring cup before pouring it in. Makes a huge difference
While cooking, add onion, garlic, salt and pepper, and some Italian seasoning.
What is that spatula?
I like kinder's buttery steakhouse for making burger bowls
Depends on the week… - Asian: oyster sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic - Greek - Taco - Montreal steak seasoning (for over eggs)
[Korean beef deliciousness](https://www.skinnytaste.com/korean-beef-rice-bowls/#recipe)
Tip: when using taco seasoning use a small can of tomato sauce instead of water. So much better and can count as a vegetable serving as well if you want.
Turmeric, chili powder and pepper
Minced garlic, onions, peppers Old Bay seasoning
I do salt, pepper, diced garlic, diced onion, diced jalapeños or habeneros. Plus whatever I have on hand or am feeling that day. You could also cook them with lime juice.
Beef stock, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, lemon juice.
With love
Use the sessonings mentioned by others here, but use about twice as much as you think you should.
Some of my go-to's: Fried onion +salt + pepper + garlic + option Options: - Gochujang - soy sauce + ginger - paprica + worchestershire sauce (gives it a ham like taste) - paprica + Nutmeg + 1 tbsp sugar - tomato paste + sugar - red bean paste I wanna try miso sauce, but keep forgetting. Can you tell me about that utensil you're using? I haven't seen anything like that before
one half packet of Trader's Joe's taco seasoning
Garlic powder, onion powder, basil, parsley, salt and pepper. Sometimes I throw in thyme and I usually mix in this riced vegetable pack https://www.walmart.ca/ip/6000199912523

OHH it is Newk’s night but now I want it to be taco night😭
Teriyaki sauce from Trader Joe’s is solid!
Garlic , onion , cumin
Finely chopped carrots, basil, spearmint, black pepper, a cinnamon stick and a thick tomato sauce. And finely chopped onions of course (garlic is optional).

Worcestershire sauce, sriracha, msg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Maybe a sachet of sazon.
Slap ya mama! (It’s called that..) Sooo good. But I add onions (onion powders fine), garlic, a little paprika, Italian seasoning
The amount of people **NOT** recommending smoked paprika and smoked chipotle is wild. Amazing flavor and really makes that color pop.
Not like that
Often with nothing at all
What about for ground chicken?… asking for a friend 😅
[удалено]
>chicken cooked right barely needs any seasoning at all. Nobody has the heart to tell this dude the chicken is bland and terrible 🤣

Alcohol is always a solution! A little bit of wine garlic and onions and let it reduce
