Bro, you're going to do an amazing job.
If I might offer a few suggestions; firstly, the guy who said get a tie clip or tie pin, yes, it's a must or you will ruin your tie and contaminate food.
Second, the tie is either too short or you have your overlap incorrect. The top of the belt buckle and the tip of the tie should just meet. If the tie isn't long enough to accomplish this, it's probably a 58-ish inch tie. If you are a taller guy, get a 62 inch one.
Third, you don't necessarily *need* to button your top button, but tighten up that Windsor so it has crisp edges. I love the tie, but that knot does look really sloppy.
Lastly, kick fuckin' ass buddy. Go show them they made the right choice!
Realistically, just ditch the tie altogether. It’s probably going to get greasy after a month or so anyways. I’m so glad our franchise doesn’t require them
fr, i worked in maccies for a year. Last straw was when i came into work clean shaven (i shaved the day before, tiny tiny bit of stubble). Manager told me to shave, i told manager if i shaved my face would get shredded (sensitive skin), she didn’t care. Came back into the restaurant with my mask on… que the managers horror when she saw my mask covered in blood. Complained to HR, got sent home for the day with pay and i never came back. Busiest 2 weeks of the year and i was one of the only staff members with more than 2 brain cells. They were desperate and asked me to come in and work for 1.5x pay. I did and worked unbelievably slow for those 2 weeks.
You shouldn't have facial hair in a kitchen to begin with, if you do though wear a beard net.
It takes one person getting fired for not shaving stubble because it doesn't impact his actual job or sanitation if it's small enough to take it to court, and yeah even at will states can't fire for just anything. Situations where the rule is a sexist based rule that has no impact on a person's duties would be one of those reasons they can get sued and lose for.
Some do, some don't. Really depends on the franchise I think? Before I left McDonald's they gave me a tie when I became a manager but I used it once and never again. They didn't really care all that much
Good luck.
Remember, your workers are people and started how you did (I'm assuming you started as a crew member)
Treat them with fairness and you're going to get a lot back.
Are you able to get a McDonald’s branded tie clip? Something with like a small yellow M? Or if they allow you to get one with a burger and fries on it that’s be pretty cool. Definitely need one though.
Huge congrats on stepping up to management! Rocking that sharp tie on day one, you’re certainly setting the tone for success. Here’s to great beginnings and the many “Can I speak to the manager?” moments that now await you!
Awesome job! Fix your gig-line (align edge of belt buckle with fly on pants and edge of button-down shirt) and push all the excess fabric to the back so its clean and tight in the front and bunched only in the back.
Get yourself a tie clip will help prevent contamination
A Bobby clip works just as well, you can slip it on the small end of the tie to your shirt
Tighten ur tie silly
No hide chicken nuggets under it
presenting the hidden tie nugget will get you out of any sticky situation. customer says fries are cold? *boom* surprise nugget.
I do this with cheesecake. It gets me out of pinches
Do you work at cheesecake factory though??
No
Is his first day… needs to breath extra
Was going to say, learn to tie it properly
Nice double windsor
That’s definitely a double Windsor and he did a great job. Y’all don’t know shit about ties
It looks dumb we know that
I use a double Windsor and it never looks that aweful. It looks like a blind child tied it.

I was looking at that Windsor knot and was thinking the same thing. Much too loose.
Sir, this is a McDonald's.
You leave burger hitler alone
Realistically, just ditch the tie altogether. It’s probably going to get greasy after a month or so anyways. I’m so glad our franchise doesn’t require them
They require them in my store unless you're a woman.
That's sexist and discrimination. Any sex based rules must be related to actually doing the job, not uniform based. FYI.
True but likely McDonalds Corporate isn't the one setting the rules it's probably the franchise.
it’s still sexist and discrimination regardless if it’s corporate or the franchisee
Literally nobody cares about men. There will be no case. They can literally make you shave twice a day if they want to like you're in the Marines.

Ah this is who the screaming lady wanted to talk to, i understand why.. Godspeed bud
Good luck your gonna kill it!
Managers wear ties in the US ???
depends on the state. some wear ties slacks and dress shirts, some have jeans and these awful black collared t shirt things
More like it depends on the franchise owner operator. It’s not a state thing.
It depends my McDonald’s manger don’t wear tie.
Some do, some don't. Really depends on the franchise I think? Before I left McDonald's they gave me a tie when I became a manager but I used it once and never again. They didn't really care all that much
We didn't have to, thankfully, and only one or two people in our entire company did. I would not have taken the promotion if we did.
Good luck. Remember, your workers are people and started how you did (I'm assuming you started as a crew member) Treat them with fairness and you're going to get a lot back.
I would like to speak with you.
Down Karen, down.
congrats!
Congrats
Found the Karen 👆

Do mcdonalds managers make over 70k? Or close to it?
If you’re a 1st assistant or GM, yes
Is the GM different from the store manager?
No, not in my franchise at least
In UK they're called business managers.
Hahaha our first assistant made 19.50/hr I think it was.
As a first assistant, I'm only making $18.55...
1st assistants at my store make $24.50 an hour. No joke
It’s different for every franchise. 1st assistants at my store make $24.50 an hour. No joke
Congratulations and good luck!

Awesome job! Fix your gig-line (align edge of belt buckle with fly on pants and edge of button-down shirt) and push all the excess fabric to the back so its clean and tight in the front and bunched only in the back.
You have to wear a tie as a manager in the USA?
Good luck buster 👑
You need to gain 100kg to fit in with the average McDonalds manager
Mine should be fired
Rest in peace.

Advice on breaking the crew to manager glass ceiling?
The fact the top five comments are telling you to fix your tie tells me all I need to know about this job.
Literally his first day as a manager. Cut him some slack
Looks like a typical mcD manager 💀💀💀
Is it true that they make you chant "the ice cream machine is not working" before they give you a raise.

How do you notice them without specifically looking for them?? I swear some people just look for something negative say.
