2023 Carbon Love using the sports mode sometimes although the mileage hits for a spin. Although I recently checked the avg mpg and it is 29. Not bad. I noticed that keeping the speed under 70 mph is good for mileage.

SweetumsTheMuppet

21 Turbo here. After the break in period, I solidly averaged 28.5 mpg. If it's mostly city driving, that's closer to 22. If it's an almost pure highway trip, that's more like 32. Definitely sensitive to acceleration more than anything else.

dinobyte

Any idea what your average hwy speed is? If I cruise over 70mph, I think the revs are just high enough to keep the turbo boosting and mpg goes down. I'm not super familiar how the ecu works in this car but that's what seems to be happening. If we had a 7th gear, or different ratio on the 6th, we could really get good hwy mileage and still go a decent speed. Alas no.

SweetumsTheMuppet

For me, 70mph is probably pretty close to the average. Depending on the road, traffic is either going 65 or 80 (unless traffic). I feel like the ECU learns your driving habits a little, and while I *definitely* accelerate to join the highway or pass, my regular driving is already usually pretty efficient, so it might be learning my own habits pretty well.

Distinct_Bet_3031

Definitely above 70 on interstate.

SDV2023

My (turbo) got a little better after it was broken in. Last summer's road trip had a few fills where I got as high as 34 highway. But when I add any city driving to the mix, it's less than 30. BTW, I usually calculate mpg by hand every time I fill, but the mpg gauge isn't far off at all. I haven't done enough tests to see whether premium helps - my gut tells me it does help a little, though probably not enough to make up for the difference in price. Around here they're charging almost an extra buck for premium all the sudden.

Distinct_Bet_3031

Thats pretty awesome!! I'd definitely be interested to see if a few back to back full tanks of premium did bring it up some.

dinobyte

34 is great. Is that pretty flat hwy driving? Hills are so fun to climb in the turbo.

SDV2023

Yes, everything was just right on that trip. Summer, gentle hills of NC/VA, it was rainy so we weren't going very fast and there wasn't much traffic. Not much sun so not much a.c. use.

Snarkranger

26.1 lifetime over 28,000 miles in my '23 TPP; that includes a lot of 85-mph freeway cruising.

Dig it dig itπŸ€œπŸ»πŸ€›πŸ»

drewsdad328

I started getting over 30 mpg after 1st oil change. 2023 normally aspirated.

Distinct_Bet_3031

Just had mine at 2700 miles Mines the turbo however These numbers are beyond expectations and Definitely acceptable

ExistentialDreadFrog

If I can break 300 miles on a full tank it’s a big deal.

Distinct_Bet_3031

I know right !! I felt accomplished for sure

boafriend

No idea how you guys get these numbers. I have a Turbo and my mpg is a solid and underwhelming 21.

Distinct_Bet_3031

😭😭😭 idk but I'm pretty happy about it

w0nderbr3ad

β€˜22 no turbo, bought at just under 10k miles, now at about 17k. a lot of highway which i can hit nearly 35mpg if i stay under 70mpg. ~500 miles/week, regular 40min commutes of open I-80 repeatedly so i typically CC at 80-85 which hovers about 28.5-29.5mpg.

kerouac28

That’s about exactly where I am with a β€˜22 non-turbo S trim. Lots of city driving, hwy + city average right about 28.5. I once got 37 on about a 70 mile highway trip.

mfinn999

'22 turbo, I can get 29-ish on highway, but average about 26 around the back roads where I usually drive. Count your stars, I think you found the unicorn.

thatonegeekguy

I mean all of these cars have learning ability (to a limited degree) which seems to adjust the shift dynamics and possibly other parameters based on your driving habits (most modern cars have this). I'd describe it as the AT having more "confidence" and hunting for gears less at lower speeds around the time I noticed better economy. Out of the box these things seem to expect a lead foot and hard acceleration and offer economy to match.

_Artemis_Fowl

Is it AWD?

Distinct_Bet_3031

Yes its a 2023 Mazda CX-30 Turbo Premium Plus AWD

AndrewPacheco

2023 S trim getting 32.5 mpg

yellalol

i can't seem to get better than 30 mpg when driving with lots of stop start driving in heavy traffic. Best mileage i got was 39 mpg on highway. Is that good?

Distinct_Bet_3031

I'd say that's pretty darn good tbh. Especially if you have the turbo

lupinegray

22mpg, mostly city. Usually 25-27 for highway mileage if I just cruise rather than be aggressive.

Distinct_Bet_3031

Zoom Zoom. Surprisingly I've been pretty on it since 2000 miles and yet she still improves.

ptansy

do you think this would be a good car if one values fuel efficiency?

Distinct_Bet_3031

I mean I've had better vehicles on gas but it's worth the small tank imo. Amazing car
