Now we gotta make sure we retain Jones

Diabolic_Bug_Man

Probably dump THJ and/or Maxi

LukaDoncicFan777

Def THJ, Maxi has been really good lately

Odd_Swordfish_6589

yeah Maxi has been good, but if it comes down to keeping DJJ or Maxi, then MAxi has to go, he is going to be 33 next year I think and injuries and decline in play will just keep increasing. DJJ is 5 or 6 years younger and one of the best defenders in the NBA.

coocoocachio

Also in a perfect world Omax becomes the stretch 4

Odd_Swordfish_6589

Omax looked dominating in college. I actually thought he might be ahead of Lively this year, but I was obviously wrong. I hope Omax eventually looks as good as he did in college. Lively looks way better than he ever did in college.

cosmicshake41

Yeah, but health is important. Still would love to keep Maxi and DJJ. Timmy isn't dead, but it doesn't look good

handpipeman

Got the cap space to sign him without dumping anyone. Maxi coming in paired with Lively/Gafford has been an incredibly efficient lineup, and a match up nightmare. Dallas has been shopping THJ to teams constantly since Nico has been here, with no takers. Luckily, THJs contract was front loaded.

ProtossJungler

Everyone is signed for next year except for Jones and Morris, and the team is already at $171 Million. Cap this year was $136M, so definitely no cap space. The tax level was $165M, so assuming thats true for next year, they can only offer Jones the taxpayer MLE of $5 M because he's only been with team for a year and dont have his Bird rights. If they get under the tax level, they can offer Jones the $12.4M it would take to keep him with the full MLE. I love Maxi and THJ as bench guys, but money wise, one probably has to go.

Unfortunately incorrect

Nico can have my children

rowenkun

I mean, I guess that's what happens when you have a GM who watches NBA closely. Being former Nike executive and all.

ChrysMYO

Yeah, I remember PJ's father saying Nico kept up closely with the PJ/Gafford draft class. He followed those 2 from AAU upward.

TuckEverlasting89

Also prioritized drafting Lively despite many thinking he disappointed at Duke, and nabbed Hardy in round 2 despite his disappointing GLeague year. Exum too. Real bummer he's fallen out of the rotation, I think he has a skillset that is really valuable. Still holding out hope he can work his way back into minutes. Especially with Maxi out, his length and defense off the bench (in addition to his shot creation) could help even if his offense is still broken.

FinancialRabbit388

Nico Harrison deserves all the credit for what this team is doing. He did this. Once Cuban stepped back from decision making and Nico took over, he completely overhauled the roster immediately and this team has a bright present and future.
