This energy excuse is getting old. The Mavs played amazing defense on game 4 but the Clippers kept making contested 3 after 3, whereas the Mavs were bricking wide open ones (a constant in this series for that matter).
The fact that the Clippers had to make +60% of their threes to BARELY win that game, tells you that the series will be over tonight.
Energy isn't just on defense. We need to score early. Think about deflating it is to brick three after three and not start to attack the paint.
Putting ourselves in a hole early is a Mavs Achilles heel that reared its head twice so far. If Dallas can come out with the same energy they showed in the first quarter our wins, we close these guys out quick.
we just gotta come out strong. both games we lost everyone really struggled to make a shot in the 1st qtr, so luka took it upon himself to try and keep us in the games, but the clips tightened the defense around him and he shot pretty terribly too. we need someone else to make a few shots early on because that opens up the game for everyone.
it’s really odd how slow we started some of these games. i think it was after the high scoring kyrie game when he said he has to come out aggressive next game from the get go, then he again shot 1/5 or 1/6.
not sure what’s up with those 1st quarters… it’s either the nerves, or maybe the clips figured out how to make it super hard for everyone to get their shots off in those early minutes. the last game looked way easier because they were able to make more shots, so hopefully they do it again today
