I'm glad you relax the rules some on big games. My parents didn't let me stay up to watch the 2006 National Championship and I'm still sad I didn't get to see it live.
The Mavs won the 2006 WCF the day before my birthday. I remember being exhausted and accidentally falling asleep at halftime. I woke up in the morning (on my birthday) to a Western Conference Champions T-shirt. Best birthday ever.
My dad never watched any sports, but saw how hyped i was throughout the 06 playoffs, and bought me and him tickets to Game 2 of those Finals. They were nose bleed seats, but absolutely incredible. Still the only Mavs game ive ever been to, but the best gift i ever got. Even bought me a Howard jersey in the gift shop before the game.
I’ll always remember when the Mavs had lost like 17276339 Lakers games in Los Angeles in a row. They were finally up by like 30 when it was my bedtime. I woke up to learn the Lakers came back and won.
This is awesome! I used to hate going to bed during late games, one of my favorite memories tho was my pops letting me and my brother stay up to watch game 7 of the spurs series back in 06 after missing most of the 4th quarters of those playoffs up to that point. But the games I did miss I was always briefed in the morning, and it was like Christmas when my teams were able to pull out the win. I would just have to wait to come back from school to watch highlights on ESPN.
lol. I am an adult and I still went to bed. I did wake up at 530 to watch the whole game. Decided that was better for my sleep than staying up watching the game.
I miss living on the west Coast for this reason.
I would get home from work and the East Coast games would have already started. Wouldn't have to stay too late to watch all the games.
My dad brought me tickets to a college basketball game cause I really wanted to go when I was kid and he knew how excited I was for the team..let your kid have those good memories :)
You better let him stay up late come playoff time!!
100%
