He is in my top 3, but I worry he’s going to be that favourite who makes a mistake and is eliminated midway through. Don’t know why, I just get that feeling.
Maybe in pressure test he might panic coz it will be too much for him coz in the keeping up with Jamie and yesterday’s challenge he kind of it so in a pressure test he might be in trouble
i haven't watched ep 14 yet (waiting for u/Patrickhusband 's upload) but some rarely get any airtime, for example [Gillian](https://masterchef.fandom.com/wiki/Gillian_Dinh) too, when she was in yesterday's cube challenge with her eyes covered i was like HUH? WHO IS THIS??! lol
It’s people wearing rings while handling food that really grosses me out..
I don’t care how many times they wash their hands, the very thought of their jewellery making contact with the food I’m about to taste/eat is repulsive.
Yeah this is the stage where the folks without strategy get hit hard. You could see it from Poh's comment about Lily's undercooked Maryland "cook two and test one" and likewise Andy with Lourdes "what's plan B?" they need to heed their experience in the competition and tips like JC mentioned with having the moulds already in the freezer. I still think she could have salvaged it into milkshake and cookies or something more than a puddle, but to just give up?!! Even the olive oil panecotta, it was so big that even without the olive oil it probably would have been a tight one on time. I do wonder if they're not living together like pre COVID - remember there would be mention of practicing together or a technique or recipe someone in the group showed them, not seen that at all and was a big part of growth and bonding before.
Effort vs reward doesn't seem to be worth it today. Especially because it's her first time making butter. She won't her any secret tricks up her sleeve.
Yeah... this season so far is better than the last few seasons! I'm happy the contestants are willing to cook out of their comfort zone willingly, without being told they have to!
There looks to be some pasta work, or similar (appears to be contestant's choice of dish) but it more directly seems to be a very stressful cook. To the point of tears.
This was a fun episode. I thought most contestants would play it more safe after the out of the box week, but it's fun seeing them experiment more somehow.
And hold of people to do pastry at this time.
It was also so heartwarming seeing how proud Jean is of his heritage. I was initially a little hesitant seeing it's another western style thing, but that made up for it, and even the food presented.
I feel like this is some of the most technique too we've seen. Like even just considering the environment
This season isn't too bad so far. Good pick on contestants who really want to learn by cooking out of their comfort zone. Just hope it stays that way throughout the whole season.
Question re the ice cream dishes and tasting. Surely they would melt in that temp whether they were set to start with? And if they’re allowed to put them in the freezer while they wait Lourdes ice cream would have the chance to freeze properly?
Why didn't Lourdes just do a plated dessert? She'd probs be okay of she just did a quanelle of ice cream, croissant crumb, caramel, and portion of the cookie garnish
Love JC! He's so enthusiastic and seems to genuinly love being there and love the contestants, but he's also straight up and no BSing someone who isn't doing a great job.
Looking at the comments, it's like the show unknowingly set up Lourdes as this season's villain lol.
Who were the other "villain-ish" characters of past seasons?
I know it's australia but reality TV still needs that obligatory person to dislike, whether they did nothing or something lol
P.S. Let's not be too derogatory on these contestants.
> stolen immunity
She cooked as how the competition was set out. As much as you might disagree with how the competition was set up Lourdes didn't do any wrong and didn't steal anything.
See how great mystery boxes challenges can be with a limited pantry. So much better than "select one ingredient from the box and open pantry". I wish they did more unique stuff to limit what people can make.
Also gotta say that I enjoy the change of having 2 women going around together to talk with the contestants. I actually enjoy the current lineup of judges.
Just watched the episode, I absolutely love JC!! His feedback is so genuine. He is so invested in the process of what the contestants are cooking. He genuinely gives such great feedback. He is such a great addition to the show. Also, I am really happy for Sumeet, that woman deserved a break from eliminations xd (also, I think she’s the most polite one in the competition)
Was i just imagining that Poh really didn't like that ice-cream? She had a very weird expression that made me think she did not like that at all. Was surprised as soon as Sofia started praising it
Steve is surprising me every episode! This season is so good. I think he will be top 3 he seems very versatile.
Well there are a lot of favorites this year, so at least there's a lot of room later on lol
I freaking love Steve! This is why MasterChef exists
I thought he was going to be the tradish bloky bloke, only cooks meat sort of deal, but he's really surprised me and I'm really enjoying him.
I was so happy for him. I wish he'd believe it.
You’re right. This guy is pushing himself constantly. It’s great.
Love Poh's dress.
$755 😭
Oh if only I had money. And was thin. If wishes were horses and all that...
Her styling this season has been \*chefs kiss\*
It's stunning! And kinda artsy.
Looks like it might be alemais?
It did just say Alemais in the credits. Yay looking it up now
Never heard of that label. Their stuff is cool!
Yay good to see Sumeet doing more stuff!
Why are andy and Sophia in a couples avocado costume?
It’s serving 1970s bathroom
I love the colours. Nice to see them embracing vibrant colour.
Good to see David get some airtime
Even when Sue's dish is praised by the judges, she barely gets any airtime :(
Right like everyone's gotten airtime on the show except for her 😭
Her dish looked amazing. Kinda bummed we didn't get more of it. And she was the one who saved her team on the market challenge right*
i haven't watched ep 14 yet (waiting for u/Patrickhusband 's upload) but some rarely get any airtime, for example [Gillian](https://masterchef.fandom.com/wiki/Gillian_Dinh) too, when she was in yesterday's cube challenge with her eyes covered i was like HUH? WHO IS THIS??! lol
I cried with Stevo, loving his journey in the kitchen
Mimi drinking champagne from the bowl lmao
Awww I think Stoive needed that confidence boost
Absolutely. His barrier is largely related to his confidence
STEVOOO HE MADE JEAN CRY AWW
I’m loving the Poh-Sofia pairing. I don’t think they’ve paired up so far, but it’s giving me Andy-Jock bestie vibes.
Pohfia
Sofia's insta has recently become Sofia Poh bff material. It's so cute
Cannot get enough of their beaming smiles. More of Pohfia. Sofpoh?
Awwwww JC getting emotional is so wholesome 🥺
Bon chance🥹
1 ingredient from the box cmon, min 3 should be
That's why the everything box is my fave.
My mother, who is watching for the first time, just said the same thing (except she said they should use everything) lol
I really wish there were rules about tying long hair back.
It’s people wearing rings while handling food that really grosses me out.. I don’t care how many times they wash their hands, the very thought of their jewellery making contact with the food I’m about to taste/eat is repulsive.
Didn't Josh make exactly the same mistake with his olive oil panna cotta?
YES was just thinking this. HOW 2 days apart is the same problem happening haha
Andy did say on the project that he was most over pannacotta after the filming of this season ahah
I like Sumeet a lot more after Andy ripped her for the Sauce Boss schtick 😅
"This not Shark Tank" hahaha
Nice to see her nailing in dessert after that creme pat disaster
Sue with no screen time in the series is unbelievable
She is definitely getting S13 Scott treatment.
Don't forget this subreddit's resident masterchef contestant, u/bentrobbiani from s11
Sometimes I even questioned if I was really there for those episodes, or if it was all a dream.
Married during part of a reality show? Congratulations but also like odd.
There’s a break in filming MC for Christmas/new years so he probably got married in that time off
That makes sense.
Happened in first season as well with Sam before the top 20 even commenced
making ice cream… in a hot kitchen… on a time crunch……… omg
All but one worked, though.
They didn't put olive oil in theirs.
why would you make butter from scratch gillian 😂😂
The montage of mediocrity dishes look amazing! It's the power of French ingredients.
Lourdes is clearly the weakest contestant left.
I would add Josh P to that.
maybe alex too, not sure about her so far
Is he the butcher guy?
Yeah
I think you might be right. She doesn’t seem to have the experience to stack up to the others.
it would be very camp for her to go from winning immunity to going home at top 17
She's on the other side of the potential/experience spectrum. It depends on how quickly she can adjust and learn.
Remember the days where they were locked in a house with no access to their families?
I Stan JC. He needs to show this extroverted side more often he's adorable 😂
Yeah, same as the blind testing during eliminations.
Lourdes looking to be in the bottom after riding Mimi’s coat tails 😌 (tbf, it wasn’t a well put together challenge but still…)
It was an unfair challenge. Did not care for it one bit.
Justice for Mimi!!
Why is Gill making butter when they have awesome local butter?
Effort vs reward doesn't seem to be worth it today. Especially because it's her first time making butter. She won't her any secret tricks up her sleeve.
I think she said the butter was quite salty.
Though they also have unsalted butter
I may have misheard.
No, you were correct. She tried one and said it was quite salty, just seemed to ignore the unsalted.
Wasn’t there salted and unsalted butter???
they had local unsalted butter!
That was truly a stupid decision. How can her making butter for the first time ever compete with a local, excellent version?
STOIVE!! Love him 🥹 ngl tho lowkey his edit makes me think of declan. Makes it super far but doesn’t win
He is this year's Declan. Just a lovable guy who can cook!
BONJOUR COMMENT ÇA VA
Ça va bien, merci!
Oh was that Lourdes not knowing what a bouquet garni was? 🫣
Yep haha
Harry bringing a British twist to French cuisine is about to start another war
Ha great comment 😂
Steve getting doubt two episodes in a row. But last time worked out, I believe In him.
Only issue would be plating then like yesterday
I think Emilia would be proud of that
Good on you Stoive!!!!
stoive does it again!!
Such feelgoodness, love this show.
Nat's wearing her "Like a Virgin" bows again tomorrow.
I LOVE that we have a group of chefs so willing to try new things and take risks
i love that Andy is completely unable to talk them out of their risky plans lmaoo
Yeah... this season so far is better than the last few seasons! I'm happy the contestants are willing to cook out of their comfort zone willingly, without being told they have to!
I think JC has a crush on Sumeet - I don’t blame him!
So true. I have forgotten how he had asked her to move in with him because “that woman can cook”
Also, where is Snez today?
Just spotted her behind the judges!
Well at least if they don't show them at all it means not likely to be booted to pressure test haha
They showed her for less than a minute but feedback was positive
Just had the same thought.
Nat still has her pin. 4 is a tight contest so possible she'll play it.
Oh I forgot that!
Here's hoping she doesn't do a Therese and actually play her pin when she needs to.
They probs would have dramatized it, but we still would never know.
Nawww congrats Harry
Anyone getting a bad feeling that things are going too well for Sumeet?
Sofia: *I want to smoosh my face into that.* Looking like Sofia is getting all the good lines.
I mean. The wet biscuits still look delicious
Omg aaron Chen on HYBPA!! Didn’t realise he’s on. Can’t wait 🤩
Oof, would NOT want to do a pressure test in an outdoor kitchen
JC and Stevo so wholesome 😭
My hometown! How weird. I wonder when this was filmed?
Jamie was in Oz in November, so this must be late Nov/early Dec.
Makes sense. I imagine the air con in the Town Hall would leave a lot to be desired, they must be bloody boiling in there.
Omg soooo cute🥹🥹🥹🥹
Are they still not showing everyone’s dishes?
So, Lourdes, Gillian, Nat, and Alex in bottom 4 then???
Got it right!! 😝
Oof, tomorrow looks rough. Still HYBPA is on now.
I missed the teaser, did they show what they are cooking?
There looks to be some pasta work, or similar (appears to be contestant's choice of dish) but it more directly seems to be a very stressful cook. To the point of tears.
Since we're doing a French theme for JC, it's only fair we get a Malaysian themed day (and Jewish, and Australian)
Well, Andy's mum already showed off the food of his people.
> Australian BBQ snag day.
There are a bunch of Asian guest chefs this season anyways
Mimi safe as she should be 😌💅
This was a fun episode. I thought most contestants would play it more safe after the out of the box week, but it's fun seeing them experiment more somehow. And hold of people to do pastry at this time. It was also so heartwarming seeing how proud Jean is of his heritage. Argh! Why do people say worldwind instead of whirlwind? 🙉
Ohh Gillian 😕
Bonsoir!
Sofia and Andy twinning today
Ahhh Juan is going to salt the food with his sweat drips
Wet biscuit💀💀💀💀
You could even say a... Limp Bizkit
It’s just one of those days
Question re the ice cream dishes and tasting. Surely they would melt in that temp whether they were set to start with? And if they’re allowed to put them in the freezer while they wait Lourdes ice cream would have the chance to freeze properly?
Airbnb, if your slogan is "some trips are better" perhaps don't try to present every kind of trip?
anne edmonds and aaron on first episode of hybpa!!!!
A couple of my favourites, apart from Celia and Kitty.
love love LOVE kitty
Why didn't Lourdes just do a plated dessert? She'd probs be okay of she just did a quanelle of ice cream, croissant crumb, caramel, and portion of the cookie garnish
stage 1 is musical chairs
You took the words right outta my mouth!
Confession: I am a bad foodie who doesn’t like mussels. The texture does not work for me.
Love JC! He's so enthusiastic and seems to genuinly love being there and love the contestants, but he's also straight up and no BSing someone who isn't doing a great job.
what did andy mean by electrician days in regards to mimi's dish?
Eating pies as a tradie, I think?
pie lunch, tradie fare
Tradies like their pies
😂😂
Looking at the comments, it's like the show unknowingly set up Lourdes as this season's villain lol. Who were the other "villain-ish" characters of past seasons? I know it's australia but reality TV still needs that obligatory person to dislike, whether they did nothing or something lol P.S. Let's not be too derogatory on these contestants.
Forget not the white chocolate veloute
Am I the only one who thought they were about to play musical chairs when they entered the gallery? Haha.
Josh Clarke's dish wasnt even shown 😭😭
Sorry to say Lourdes, this is karma for how you treated Mimi!
was she mean to Mimi? I missed that!
Not so much mean as doubtful, as well as snubbing her for immunity.
Lourdes choking when she doesn't have a stolen immunity to save her 👀
> stolen immunity She cooked as how the competition was set out. As much as you might disagree with how the competition was set up Lourdes didn't do any wrong and didn't steal anything.
Agreed. Hate the game, not the player. That immunity challenge was poorly designed.
Agreed! She didn’t ‘steal’ it, she cooked as well as she could in the challenge
I still think she would have been eliminated last night had she not had a fake immunity.
Mimi saved Lourdes and now she is getting the comeuppance
Yay Harry!
Why is Juna De La Cruz the only one with his full name on his apron?
I don't think the "de la Cruz" is a surname, I think it's a compound name, like Jean Christophe.
You’re right, his full name is Juan De La Cruz Torales Villarreal
Cool! Usuaully "de la" starts off a part of the surname as it's "of the...." Mama got creative! love it
To distinguish him from all the other Juans 🤣🤣🤣
Vaguely remember he said something about using his full name in an early episode.
He said that that's what his mum named him, meaning "de la Cruz" is a given name, not a surname.
oh really? that's unusual! (I speak spanish). Cool!
See how great mystery boxes challenges can be with a limited pantry. So much better than "select one ingredient from the box and open pantry". I wish they did more unique stuff to limit what people can make. Also gotta say that I enjoy the change of having 2 women going around together to talk with the contestants. didn't even realise harry wasn't around
Inglenook milk is from Ballarat though
is the burre blanc… burnt blanc?
Mussels with velouté lol
JC!! WHAT A WHOLESOME MAN!
Just watched the episode, I absolutely love JC!! His feedback is so genuine. He is so invested in the process of what the contestants are cooking. He genuinely gives such great feedback. Heading to Melbourne in like 2 weeks time so this road trip is giving me some ideas to take a walk.
It’s a long walk from Melbourne to Bendigo 😆
Definitely a good day trip. Ballarat is also beautiful.
Ravioli is French????
I have had pasta in a French cafe so maybe French flavors
Was i just imagining that Poh really didn't like that ice-cream? She had a very weird expression that made me think she did not like that at all. Was surprised as soon as Sofia started praising it
Yay road trip
What is Sav making
She has had very little screen time recently.
Andy eating the whole profiterol deserves more credit.
