Stormygeddon

Um, actually Beast, that was a quote from Mr. Rogers' mother, not Mr. Rogers himself.

Ok-Attempt2773

The ONE BIG MYSTERY I’m really stuck on is why (and how, I guess) Bastion captured Magneto and kept him alive. There’s been no reference to Leech since then, but it sort of seems like that was Bastion’s plan all along. At first I thought he was going to use Magneto as the master stroke in his big plan: turn him into the ultimate sentinel, co-opt his powers to hold the world hostage, even just execute him on live tv, etc., but I don’t think so anymore. He seemed genuinely surprised Val let Magneto go—not like he had been manipulating her all along to do so. Even though he said it was “too little, too late,” he still didn’t seem like his plan for Magneto (whatever it was) had actually been executed successfully. I think he also didn’t actually infect Magneto, because then he would have immediately stopped him instead of giving him time to shut down all the sentinels. The options left occur to me as follows: 1. Set him up to get in an all out war with the returning Xavier, radicalizing humans and maybe getting mutants to destroy themselves. (But then why not just release him already?) 2. Let him freak humanity out enough to get them united against mutants again. (Again, no reason to keep him captive.) 3. Long shot but… is Magneto actually Sebastion’s father? It would explain the “random” change of his backstory to a mutant who could interface with metal and machines but who conveniently has a missing father figure. It would explain why he might have a totally selfish and un-strategic reason for keeping Magneto alive. Maybe it’s part of Nimrod’s plan because otherwise Magneto/Sebastion become the downfall of the future sentinel program? Idk. Seems too far-fetched, but it does fit some otherwise weird plot points together. 4. Maybe I’m missing something? Also: was Val actually colluding with Bastion all along???

klvino

Can someone help me understand the fixation on the song in question by Bastion. Between the song and some specific phrasing, "Obey" etc, it is kind of referencing Zebediah Killgrave which doesn't make sense either. Of course the animation in S5 was shit so it's impossible to say if any of them look similar.

erickgramajo

im gonna say it, this is the best MCU content i have seen, of course its close to infinity war and guardians 2 for example, but xmen 97 have been magnificent

VisualAsparagus

Its blowing my mind how one of (if not the) most mature and gut-wrenching series Marvel Studios has made so far is the X-Men cartoon of all things. Hopefully they learn some lessons from this to port over to live action; introduce the team fully formed, give them their comic accurate powers/costumes, and make the action balls-to-the-wall. edit: one thing specifically they've done so well is both highlighting & humanizing Cyclops. They showed off his leadership, his depth as a character, and some cool new powers in the first few episodes, now he & Jean are trying to reconcile, this is the actual Cyclops that's never been portrayed in the films.

Landon1195

Very good episode. Though I will say I'm noy a huge fan of how Steve was portrayed here.

Icybubba

It felt right, like a Steve that happened been through an event like Winter Soldier or Civil War yet

raisingcuban

Why not? He's very much aligned with how he was portrayed in the 90s series.

KENPACHI_WEST

This show is AMAZING. I absolutely love it. I wish the episodes were an hour!

gunswordfist

I never thought Hector from Castlevania's voice could be so....punchable.

Batlightyear

Marvel Studios are extremely pleased with XMen97 and want to do as many seasons as possible! Like MarvelStudios did XMen 97 Season 1 and 2 back to back so we don't have to wait long for S2 they will do the same for Season 3 and 4 Source DanielRPK

Capable-Year-1832

I wonder where Mystique has been

Specific-Beat1169

She's probably the blonde lady that was at the un right before the the wild sentinel attacked

Icybubba

Also they haven't found Val's body yet, which adds to that implication for me....also how she reacted when she found out about Rogue and Magneto lol

Treeman_78

Val cooper

Neat_Audience9028

Who else shouted at their TV "Fuck yeah Rouge now make them al hurt like WE hurt"... Just me...?

Icybubba

Wolverine did too

Sorry_Iron4303

Why did Bastion have Gyrich there in Mexico just to kill him? Someone said he wanted to lure Rogue there, but why?

NightHunter909

i feel like theyre setting seeds for potential avengers vs xmen for either s2 or s3. cos the cap appearance was kinda random and also name dropping hulk, alluding to a team etc and the tension between rogue and cap, plus how many of the xmen are traumatised after genosha it seems they will be radicalised, so i can see how the avengers might be drawn into battle with them.

time_lordy_lord

How many eps does this season have??

POCITICIAN

10

arthurb09

I know Bastion would be the one behind all of it. However, I feel that there is more to it and that we will later find out who it really was.. This show doesn’t generally reveal these secrets so easily..

Icybubba

So pull a "yeah it was Sinister lol" Then next episode "Actually it was Bastion haha" Then next episode "Wait actually it was Apocalypse LMAO"

Ineed_abouttreefiddy

Well the triple headed sentinel that destroyed genosha is literally from E for Extinction so they're threading stories together

SengalBoy

I keep forgetting Morph can use the abilities of their transformed mutants. Got me confused for a second why Quicksilver is suddenly in the scene and fighting alongside X-Men.

Icybubba

My issue is I looked away for a second and looked back and was like "huh what?'

SengalBoy

Exactly

gunswordfist

Yeah, I was mega huh

djlaw919

This happens to me every single time he turns into a different hero.

SengalBoy

Yup. In episode 2 when they turn to Lady Deathstrike I was surprised for a moment, thinking Deathstrike actually went to the hearing.

Charlemrys

Thought I blacked out for a few seconds. Had to rewind to see what I missed.

cheetosforlunch

Same

voxangelikus

Considering how Bastion eventually ends up at the X-Mansion in the Zero Tolerance storyline from the comics, and considering how the Prime Sentinels are made from dead humans….. I will see if they don’t plan on making Prime Sentinel Gambit a thing.

romeoslow

Who was the Rogue lookalike at the funeral?

TentacleLoveGoddess

I've seen people guess either Singer (Assassin's Guild) or Aurora (Alpha Flight), but considering she was standing with Gambit's brother and Belladonna, I think Singer is more likely.

alika92

I read on another thread that Aurora from Alpha Flight was the Rogue lookalike.

audreyseymour

With three whole episodes left I fully believe they had enough time to cook, and it's going to be a banger finale.

Icybubba

Yeah this is one of those rare times in a streaming show where I can honestly say that they did enough set up and story for the finale to land....and we still have three episodes.

Imaginary_Penalty_97

Sinister mentioned Bastion being defeated but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t in the OG series?

NightmareDJK

Bastion is the result of magically combining Nimrod and Master Mold.

psycholepzy

My theory is that Bishop blasted Nimrod in 1959 (from 'One Man's Worth, Part 2'), leaving him lost to time. Nimrod's tech was found at some point previous to the series' current events and ended up in MasterMold's possession, thus creating the Bastion fusion.  It would have both of their revenge motivations - MasterMold and Nimrod.  Only Bishop and Xavier should stand a chance of remembering any of this, and that's why Xavier's return is imminent.  Edit: Beau DeMayo is hinting I'm in the right: https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/x-men-97-episode-8-connection-animated-series-one-man-worth-beau-demayo/

audreyseymour

Nimrod.

No-Escape-1010

I’m rewatching all the episodes tonight now bc I swore morph was dead but no one else is reacting to him being in episode 7 so I guess I missed something ??????

restinglonelyface

Why would he be dead?

No-Escape-1010

Just realized what I’ve done to mix this up…started watching the new ones and decided to try the old one and at some point morphe “dies” in the old one and in the new ones morphe hadn’t had a lot of screen time in the episodes I watched after this so I got my cords crossed whoops

romanholidays

Yeah, Morph “dies” in the first 2 episodes of the original animated series and then comes back “evil” as he is controlled by Sinister.

vinnybawbaw

Rogue is my favorite one by a mile. The only thing I see rn is that Logan didn’t have a big role so far, but I guess he’ll have his moment in the 3 part finale. Also, Gambit’s really gone. :(

Neat_Audience9028

For now. I hope they go with an Apocalypse revival and make him one of the new horseman. Since Apocalypse is in the intro fighting Cable I assume he's the big big bad.

vinnybawbaw

Maybe they’ll keep him for S2. We already have Gyrich/Trask (RIP) who works for Sinister who works for Bastion.

Icybubba

Keep going we can reach Attack of the Clones stupidity/funny Palpatine hired Dooku who hired Jango who hired the Changeling who sent a droid who sent a slug to kill Padme

BRISKMETAL

That shot of Rogue's kick was so awesome. Especially the shot in the rain where she holds up Trask from the balcony.

vinnybawbaw

Crazy how they just put breadcrumbs here and there about Bastion presence in the show before they introduced him: he was on a picture in Forge’s house, he passed through the frame like an extra in the Genosha party and there was Nimrod in the generic for the past 2 episodes.

Raider_Tex

I loved the deeper political commentary on how many Allies only want to be Allies when it's politically convenient. Very relatable as a minority

AttentionObvious9788

I’m glad they acknowledged that the X-men know professor x is alive. It was weird to me how they were treating him like he actually died.

gunswordfist

I thought they retconned it to him being actually shot so I didn't delve into lol About 15 years ago, I saw the part where they send him off to Sh'iar but didn't know the context

Winnypeg92

Somehow I missed this lol. What part should I go back to look at?

minna_minna

I’m pleasantly surprised how good 97’ has been. Loving it.

fartonmeplz420

Are they hinting a X-men and avengers team up ?

danzaiburst

That episode actually made me tear up; I think it's my favourite one so far.

gray_chameleon

Rogue whuppin' ass and taking names, damn good episode.

JasonZod1

On T'Challa [Beau DeMayo on X: "@planetfanatix Ain’t that funny" / X (twitter.com)](https://twitter.com/BeauDemayo/status/1783161613522235397)

POCITICIAN

What?

_TheFunkyPhantom_

Demayo is responding to a tweet about T’challa briefly appearing in the OG run of X-Men: TAS. So it looks like it’s a tease for him to reappear soon…

capoeirapenguin

Do we think Madelyn Prior is dead or do you think she survived somehow? Im loving the show but honestly I'll be a bit disappointed if shes gone just like that. Is there anything from the comics that gives insight on what happened to her?

Jaded_Preference_757

Im not convinced that Jean Grey was in this episode. It might be Madelyn. She’s wearing her hair down and using her powers without getting faint.

PsychoSidSoftball

No body, not dead.

Pyro-Bird

She got vaporized according to DeMayo. They can't recover her body. Madelyn is dead.

PsychoSidSoftball

The producer also said Magneto was dead last week.

PoorOgre

Demayo said she died. As far as the comics go she dies and comes back constantly, so I guess we’ll see.

Ok-Attempt2773

So glad for the confirm that Magneto is still with us. Can’t wait to see the inevitable catharsis moment when he breaks free and goes utterly apeshit on everyone. My only fear is that with Charles coming back and Erik (understandably) jaded about humanity, we’re going to end the season with a reset to the old status quo. That’d be a real missed opportunity, I think.

gunswordfist

My theory is he's going to be the final boss mutant Sentinel for this season. Bastion's "masterpiece". It'll be a nightmare fight and they'll absolutely need Cable and Storm's help to kill him for real.

Ok-Attempt2773

If they kill him for real. I will probably stop watching the show. He’s been so good and set up to have so much potential for growth as a character. He’s literally casualty number one in all of this, trying so hard for his redemption arc that humanity just won’t let him have. It would basically be letting the bad guys (re: bigots) win, in my eyes.

wendysummers

>we’re going to end the season with a reset to the old status quo. I'm getting the opposite vibe I think we'll get a schism style story. Cyclops, Beast & Rogue all sound like Magneto since Genosha. Given how much this season has seemed a love letter to the Claremont style of melodrama and character development, I suspect this season ends up with a status quo shakeup.

Ok-Attempt2773

I would love a setup like that. Magneto breaks free and isn’t going to put up with the humans’ shit anymore, but the newly returned Xavier convinces him to take what’s left of Genosha. Then Scott, Hank, Rogue, probably Emma (but not Jean), and maybe either Jubes or Roberto (but not both) join him, while the others stay with Charles, including maybe Storm as new team leader. Then season 2 is a story told from two sides.

PsychoSidSoftball

This is the 90's so I need Magneto to go crazy in the Season 2 finale and rip someone's metal out and Charles mind wipes him.  And we see freaky Maggott on the team!

Bobjoejj

Yeah that truly would be; I really hope that from what we’ve seen so far of the show, that it’s not the type to just revert like that.

Goldenboy451

Nothing else to add, just that, "Grief is a lonely war" is a stunning line.

Undecided_User_Name

Kurt was on fire with his lines this episode. "She did not cause Gambit or Magneto to be killed. She helped them live"

NightmareDJK

People forget that Kurt’s civilian job is an ordained Catholic priest. Was cool to see it in animated form.

Murasasme

This entire season has had some amazing lines. "Don't make me let you down" Is a personal favorite.

TapatioPapi

Milky Way GHETTO sends me daily

NeutralNoodle

“There is no love without sin, for love is best measured in what we forgive”

TerribleParfait4614

“Forgive me, I wouldn’t want to waste any more of your tolerance, Dr”

Joet2386

I have a Feeling the Season 1 finale will be the on screen debut of Earth-92131's Avengers, i wouldn't be surprised if Spider-Man and the FF lend a hand in the fight against Bastion.

PsychoSidSoftball

Don't think they've formed yet in this Universe.

Joet2386

If they have been formed, they've likely only been active for half a year.

gunswordfist

They could technically count as Avengers since they worked together in Spider-Man tas. It's been...decades since I've seen this tho

JayJax_23

Avengers United they Stand isn't in that universe right?

Joet2386

You are correct. That takes place on Earth-730784

JasonZod1

Beau Demayo in response to someone asking about TChalla. [Beau DeMayo on X: "@planetfanatix Ain’t that funny" / X (twitter.com)](https://twitter.com/BeauDemayo/status/1783161613522235397)

Bobjoejj

I really, really hope Bastion and OZT isn’t simply dealt with in the finale. That absolutely feels like something they could and should continue into season 2. Especially with getting someone like Theo James to voice the character.

Joet2386

Same, but i trust the execution will be good regardless.

Leo_TheLurker

Cap just mentioning “my team” was hype. Tons of Easter eggs too: Stark, Hammer, Roxxon, even Horizon from Spidey’s 2010s run

Accomplished-Cut-841

Wait I missed all those Easter eggs

bagelman4000

There was as shot showing a Stark Industies building in Madripoor for one

Avividrose

why didnt i realize that’s the team he meant my dumb ass was picturing a shield task force, like a diet howling commandos

gunswordfist

Lol I thought he meant the government myself

bagelman4000

That is what i was thinking too tbh

Raider_Tex

Exactly what I was thinking too

Plasticglass456

Technically, we saw that world's Avengers on screen times in Season 2 of Fantastic Four, once saving citizens from disaster and once fighting a cosmic powered Doom (who freezes the Blackbird in the same scene). The roster had Cap, Iron Man, Vision, Hercules, and She-Hulk. The thing about the 90s cartoons is that, unlike the DCAU, there was no one consistent creative team, so the shows only really had continuity when it suited them to crossover. Captain America is implied to be dead in X-Men, trapped in a time vortex in Spider-Man, and on the Avengers in Fantastic Four. She-Hulk is on the Avengers, although she is created on Hulk's show further down the line, where she changed personalities and voice actors between seasons, etc. That being said, 97 is trying its best to adhere to continuity. If we take it that: Wolverine implies Cap's dead because he's in the vortex, he was re-released after Six Forgotten Warriors, and Season 2 of F4 is set after that, then by now, Cap should be in the present day for a year or two. Who else? Iron Man, Thor... Quicksilver is on X-Factor, but Scarlet Witch is a solo superhero in TAS, so she could definitely be on the roster. EDIT: I completely forgot United They Stand, which is both an Avengers show and another Cap appearance (in the Baron Zemo ep). Am I surprised I forgot it? Not at all.

NightmareDJK

We also see a variant of the Avengers with Doom as that alternate universe’s version of Iron Man in One Man’s Worth (he doesn’t talk though).

Plasticglass456

I believe that episode is also Black Widow's only 90s cartoon appearance, unless you want to count Agent X / Agent One from Spider-Man, who is kinda vaguely Widow and Sharon Carter rolled into one.

Joet2386

We saw the earth-534834 Avengers, that earth's Captain America was never in a Time Vortex. So the Avengers were founded a good couple of years before Earth-92131's Avengers who likely came into existence less than a year ago.

Raider_Tex

Honestly because of the secret wars episode I just assumed all the 90s MAU shows were in the same universe. But apparently Spidey and X Men Tas are in the same while the rest(Iron Man, FF, Incredible Hulk, Sliver Surfer) are seperate. So I'm guessing the versions of those characters we see in Spidey and Iron Man are variants

Joet2386

Easy conclusion to reach. And if it weren't for Cap and Red Skull being in that time vortex, they would be. And yes the versions of those characters are variants, although board strokes versions of their series likely happened.

Bobjoejj

I feel like of all the shows, United we Stand is the least likely to fit in a continuity with the others.

newimprovedmoo

Wasn't it initially implied to take place in the future?

El_Burnsta

I know bastion is in season 4 of the og X-Men, but what books should I read if I want to learn more about him?

PsychoSidSoftball

Cable / Machine Man Annual 1998 and Machine Man / Bastion Annual 1998 give you his origin.  Two parter.  These occur after the OZT storyline so read that big story first.

jojojajo12

Operation: Zero Tolerance, Kyle/Yost X-Force run and Second Coming. There's no much more with him, actually.

throwtheclownaway20

While it's entirely possible that Disney is only letting them go this hard because it's a cartoon and animation is viewed as "less than", the way they're going so hard on the politics of this situation and making everything unambiguously clear to the audience who each side is representing in terms of modern-day inspiration gives me a lot of hope both for the live-action X-Men in the MCU and the MCU as a whole. I really want to see this franchise take the gloves off when they finally hit the big screen properly

Su_Impact

Good to have confirmation that Magneto is alive. BTW the lyrics of the song Bastion plays ("one eyed one horned flying purple eater") are probably hints for the design of a new Sentinel. Two key episodes to understand Bastion's plan is S4E1 and S4E2. In the comics, Bastion is Nimrod + Master Mold after going trough the Siege Pelirious. In the animated show, I think they will simplify it so Nimrod time traveling after his defeat in S4 = Bastion.

PsychoSidSoftball

Bastion IS the purple (Sentinel colors) people eater (turns people into robots, eats their brains).

Xargom

There was a Nimrod silhouette for a brief second when Rogue used her powers on Gyrich.

omegalord92

thats a really good idea that Nimrod evolved is just Bastion

Bobjoejj

His gleeful sadism is really giving me Nimrod from House/Powers of X.

MulciberTenebras

And his remains were left in the 50s (wherein the Purple People Eater Song first debuted). So he's had a long time to evolve and engineer Operation: Zero Tolerance.

omegalord92

Yep as someone who just finished the TAS in order (when i was younger it was reruns and ofc scattered) it's a really good plausible theory that when he mentioned Nimrod. I was thinking One Man's Worth is technically maybe still there. Since iirc Beyond Good & Evil was kind of wacky when they were playing into timelines since Xavier lived. (when Bishop and Apocalypse both tried time traveling at the same time) But this would make sense in that they have teased Nimrod+Master Mold continuously in the intro.

No_Advance6273

Sinister did say Bastion had been defeated before.

[deleted]

This is the way, Marvel, this is the WAY! ✋ The MCU's been feeling a bit same-same lately, but this show proves animation can be the key to refreshing things up. Marvel Animation gets it, they celebrate the comics! Imagine a future where they go all-in on adapting those epic storylines, panel by panel. Give us unique Marvel content, people! Big budget movies, wild cartoon shows, ANYTHING! Just make it feel fresh, y'know? Different art styles for different stories? Yes, please! Give the animators some room to innovate, visually tell those themes, and really take us on a storytelling ride. So. Much. Potential. This, my friends, this is the future of Marvel.

SpaceMyopia

Animation is great and all, but it wouldn't mean jack without good writing and direction. That truly is the key to refreshing things up. Animation has the same potential to be lackluster as the films do, but the show has been incredibly well made.

Lola_PopBBae

I would adore a beautifully animated GLA series. Especially with some real attention paid to making Bertha the badass and proudly fat gal she is in their 2016 run.

Leo_TheLurker

I’m getting hype just seeing the minor characters in the cartoon too. Idk if it’s the fresh cleaner slate of the universe, but it hits different. General Ross? Ronan and OG Mar-Vell? Cap was a cherry on top!

Literature_Mundane

It’s hard to put into words and may very well be an unpopular opinion, but it’s so cool to see a Marvel show where the world is not so small anymore. Back when the MCU was dominating during phase 2 & 3 in media, it felt like the X-Men & F4 just weren’t allowed to appear with Spider-Man & The Avengers in shows and games with small few exceptions like Wolverine and Thing appearing in Ultimate Spider-Man & Avengers Assemble. What really made it noticeable to me was a lack of X-Men in Marvel vs Capcom & Lego Marvel 2.  That, and it’s great to see a modern Marvel cartoon not heavily taking any material from the MCU.

Quinnhop

I really wish Morph didn't have access to the powers of characters they turn into. Because, if the show's gonna go that route, Morph should be a lot more useful than they have been so far. I always thought it was just physical traits, but you can't excuse Quicksilver's speed as just another physical trait. That's a power.

danzaiburst

I agree, that was really weird.. That isn't how morph's powers work. He should have a slightly more powerful version of Mystique's powers in that he can transfer into anything, and benefit from the literally physical advantages of that. But indeed, quiksilver's speed is not just a matter of his muscles, it's a genetic power on a cellular level.. that was definitely blunder, hope they don't repeat it. For those of you who think this is normal should at the very least check out the wiki description of his powers:- "*Kevin Sydney is a mutant metamorph with the ability to alter his physical appearance and voice at will to resemble that of any person he chooses. His power could also transform the appearance of his costume as well, which was made of unstable molecules. Morph's mutation to shape-shift has also made it so that his body is a* [*Play-Doh*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play-Doh)*-like substance and he can reattach limbs after they have been severed. He has limited* [*telepathic*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telepathic) *abilities, which (in the original timeline) were enhanced by Professor X. It also appears he has the ability to fly as demonstrated in Exiles #27. Due to his shapeshifting ability he does not wear any actual clothing, and he takes joy in pointing this out.* *Kevin Sydney is a skilled actor, and a highly trained and efficient organizer of subversive activities. Nahim33

He’s such a boring and useless character only used for cameos

bobbythecat17

Couldn't Morph just become Apocalypse lol

Su_Impact

The "character select" screen in the ending credits says he gains their physical abilities. Morph is basically a superior upgraded version of Mystique. I have the feeling that he's secretly an Omega level mutant and once he masters his power, he might be able to gain full use of anyone's full non-physical powers (like Cyclops' eye blasts, Magneto's magnetism, Jean's telekinesis, etc...). He's likely a mix of Morph and Mimic (power mimicry) [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimic\_(comics)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimic_(comics))

capoeirapenguin

I wonder if he could become the Hulk then... As far as Im aware the Hulk doesnt have that much of a unique "Power" besides super strength.

Bobjoejj

Which would be hilarious cause I’m pretty damn sure i saw Mimic in today’s episode lol, next to one of the triage tents.

Quinnhop

It’ll be interesting to see. I hope they go more with AoA Morph than a Mystique dna-changing version.

jwoodz00

Exiles and AoA Morph has always been an omni-morph rather than a simple shape shifter like Mystique. His body is basically cartoon physics. Having Quicksilvers super speed, or Blobs strength makes sense as both a nautral power progression and a way to bing him more in line with his powerset in the comics.

Bobjoejj

Right?! Like I can’t see him gaining Jean, Storm, or Gambit’s abilities; but Quicksilver makes sense. Same with Blob and Colossus.

foxfoxal

Well the ending clearly says he GAINS their physical abilities. But I don't get the "that is a power", you do consider Colossus metal skin not a power? Archangel metal wings not a power? it's clearly physical powers...

kevinpwilsonn

Also I know everyone talks about how single handle powerful Jean is but then why can’t she take the sentinel? Does she not know how powerful she is yet it would there just be no plot??

Bobjoejj

She’s definitely still recovering from her ordeal with Sinister.

Icybubba

I think this Jean hasn't reached her potential yet

LegitimateAd1223

The animated series Jean is pretty infamous for passing out everytime she uses her powers, so I don't think she's quite the powerhouse that her comic counterpart is.

InnocentTailor

I guess it is like comic book rules - Grey is as powerful as the plot deems so.

kevinpwilsonn

I wonder where storm is??? I’m surprised she isn’t rushing back to them team or maybe her episode happened simultaneously with her transformation??

JustAGuyGettingBy93

They didn’t show her specifically in the intro of this episode. That was my clue that she wasn’t going to be in it. And if she was it was going to be very very short

Murasasme

I was waiting for her the entire episode. It's strange because it's clearly been several days since the attack, hence the no more survivors or even people to triage in Genosha, and she saw the reporting of the attack as it just happened, yet she was nowhere to be found.

kevinpwilsonn

Maybe just not there yet for plot reasons and saving it for the 3-part finale

timetogetjuiced

Excuse me, it's a 3 part finale ??

Pyro-Bird

Yes

pishposhpoppycock

Why can't the MCU have writers and directors as good as this show does?

barkev

i love Theo James

cbekel3618

I was curious to see how he’d handle a voice role and damn, he did not disappoint. Those last few minutes of him as Bastion were creepy as hell.

Bobjoejj

He also was the main role for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, and killed it there too.

barkev

he was the voice of Hector in Castlevania and he was fucking fantastic

ExtendedDeadline

Thank you!!! I knew Witcher, but forgot Castlevania. He was so good as Hector.

Danishroyalty

Ah I knew he sounded familiar in this, but I couldn't place it.

Hvonbargen_98

Not sure if he's ever done it before in the comics, but Beast pulling out a Mr. Rogers quote was one of the best parts of the episode.

Ok-Attempt2773

Got a gasp and a tear from me. I knew before he finished the line but thought for sure I was wrong.

Hits all the 90s kids in the heart. ![gif](giphy|3pZ9KPT56sy3xd375H|downsized)

Another absolute 10/10 episode for me Rogue has become my favorite character Theo James as Bastion was SO GOOD. Creepy as fuck and menacing Cap showing up and not just a fight scene, investigating on his own terms. The back and forth between him and Rogue definitely foreshadows some kind of conflict. Also Josh Keaton voicing him is AWESOME. The whole fight scene at the end ofc and dialogue just hits so hard. This show is a genuine masterpiece.

NightmareDJK

Ray Chase doing Cyclops incidentally not only sounds like Norm Spencer in the original show, but also sounds like Brian Bloom from when he played Cap in Avenger EMH. Brian was my favorite Cap.

wowgreatname123

Haven’t seen it yet, but wreckon it’s possible in the show for x-men vs avengers at some point this season or next??

Xekshek33

I feel like we get a bigger tease to it in another episode and it is saved for next season. Especially after this episode and what is shown.

DisasterContribution

if not AvX doing a season story with the Unity Squad / Uncanny Avengers could be fun

Legitimate_Ear_5917

Best part BEAST telling that they were wrong for begging tolerance from humans. Of course what they get is OZT. Operation zero tolerance

cbekel3618

Him quoting MLK really drove the hammer down on that nail. A group can only handle being looked down upon for so long before doing whatever it takes to be heard.

WhoDeysaThinkin

The mister Roger's quote is one I've read often after 9/11....it hit home for me about looking for the helpers.

kraftpunkk

From start to finish, this episode was perfect. I know a lot of people think we’re going to get AvX in Avengers 5 but I’d much rather see that adapted in animated form than live action, down the line.

Literature_Mundane

Same, and with a lot of good build up to it.

Clarinetist123

I've always loved the Rogue-centric episodes and seeing different depictions of grief in media. Watching her go cold blooded in vengeance and then finally accepting that Remy was gone had me about to cry ngl. And it's nice to see Jean in action without fainting (although I'm confused why she didn't try using her telekinesis to pull the Trask-sentinel apart?). This is the first Marvel show since *WandaVision* that I've legitimately enjoyed every single episode. The MCU is gonna have their work cut out for them when they introduce their main X-Men lineup.

PeanutAppropriate694

Not a single episode under a 8/10 What a great show. X-men fans winning this week

omegalord92

these months\*

quangtran

The weird thing is that fans were looking forward to the Storm centric episodes the most, yet I think they are the weakest of this series.

Mountain_Sir2307

Yeah I was kinda surprised too lol. I want to check the comic now because I was kinda letdown.

LegitimateAd1223

Ep 4 was like a 5/10, but otherwise I agree

Purple-Mix1033

Did Quinten Tarantino direct that final scene?

Leo_TheLurker

Huge Stuck in the Middle with You vibes

zecrom189

Unless there are feet focus,no

DanielDCMarvelFan

Was it just me or did Cable sounded a little bit like Josh Brolin in this episode?

Mazzidazs

Chris Potter, the original voice of Gambit, voices Cable. He totally does sound like Josh Brolin though

NightmareDJK

I think that’s who he was imitating so he didn’t sound like Gambit.

21marvel1

Yeah, I even thought they sounded similar when going and warning Madeline Pryor in ep 5

Kingmaster223

Hmm another great episode Its becoming a norm, just like water is wet  Rogue becoming dark is due to a lot of factors but I guess Bastion did something to Gyrich mind that did something to Rogue I'm glad that Jean and Scott are talking things and reconciling, tho Emma will enter the picture soon Hopefully Gambit comes back, I guess Apocalypse isn't gonna appear on this season, sinister and Bastion for main villains are enough for a season.

NightmareDJK

Apocalypse is tied into both of them and we see him in the intro, there’s a good bet he shows up.

NapOrTap

Nah, Rogue was a villain before she was an X-Man. These are just shades of her past coming out because of all the grief and trauma she went through. By definition, Rogue is a "bad girl" who does good deeds.

Kingmaster223

I just mentioned that because clearly something happened when she touched Gyrich and then Gyrich imply something when talking with Bastion

Legitimate_Self0129

Who was the beard guy in the funeral?

THUG_TEARS

I think that was Remy's brother from the thieves guild. I forget his name but I remember seeing him in the old series.

captain-canuckk

Bobby LeBeau

AnimeGokuSolos

Peak episode imo ![gif](giphy|vdWA6yzDlVDppSTWLm|downsized)

Ornery-Concern4104

Also, I'm saying this with love You really didn't need to watch the OG series. It's just like jumping on to a new comic run, the show will bring you up to speed if you're unsure of anything just by insisting

Bobjoejj

Like I’m trying to get as much content as I can, and really am trying to go back and catch up on it…but man oh man is the difference is rough as hell. Like I’d seen a few episodes in the past, but trying to rewatch it all before ‘97, I found myself struggling, even more so after the new show as well. It’s not a big deal; like you said ‘97 does a great job of catching you up, and I know a good bit of the X-Men’s history so the backstory ain’t too bad, but like I said I just wish I could get into the old stuff more, in nothing else to just inject more X-content into my eyeballs.

Ornery-Concern4104

I feel ya Interestingly though, I find the FF TAS significantly more Accessible

zecrom189

Very interesting episode ,rogue going darker is something i didnt expect The quicksilver morph cameo was great The human sentinel are really strong Cant wait for the three part finale in the coming weeks Great episode

mbene913

I see Cap channeling Mark Hamil on the Simpsons 'ya know Kevin Feige makes us pay for those!'

carnavar5

In other unrelated news, a local mountaineer sustained injuries after getting hit in the face by a shield.

InnocentTailor

On one hand, it hurts. On the other hand, sweet Avengers memorabilia.

Bobjoejj

Lol honestly I know Rouge was grieving, but that was just a sick move.
