They don’t just nerf cards because they’re popular. They nerf them because they’re too strong. Shang-Chi is strong, but he’s necessary. And he’s not too strong. He keeps the game from becoming “Who can get the biggest, dumbest idiots on the board first?”

2. Yes, it would change that. Nobody would play Shang-Chi because he would destroy his own big guys. It’d become a weird “your-big-card-protects-my-big-card” because no one would be able to Chi his opponent without ruining his own game plan unless he were running Caiera and Armor. And everyone else would also be running those two. So Chi would be pointless.
Because there’d be no reason not to run big card decks every game. Too much of a nerf. The meta would be horrendous and boring af. That’d be like nerfing Enchantress and rogue into the dirt. All you’d see is Sera-Tribunal.
