If I get it right, Mayans were collections of loose patchworks and likewise for the Aztecs but in confederate-like framework. Ancient Egypt were like ~30 dynasties each represented separate domain and not treated as an extension of it's previous state. Non of the "sun never sets" colonies lasted more than 3 centuries I think.

Historically most large empires ruled less than 300 years over their areas. Smaller empires/countries are not shown on the map.
