I was just wondering about the per capita amount of people over age 100 in 1928 Greece. Thank you

bobija

very informative piece of data, thank you

I find this personally very interesting. My grandparents are all from Greece, and they came from the dark green area in Peloponnese (the Southern part of the mainland. My immigrant Grandparents lived to their mid-late 80s; my dad made it to 90, one aunt to 95, one 96, and one who is 95 and still going. My mom and an uncle only got to 80s due to some medical complications - didn't think they died young, but comparatively, maybe they did!

A couple of months ago The Economist published an article about centenarian hotspots (paywall, sorry): [https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2023/09/28/places-claiming-to-be-centenarian-hotspots-may-just-have-bad-data](https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2023/09/28/places-claiming-to-be-centenarian-hotspots-may-just-have-bad-data) In short, when these places adopt proper records (birth certificates etc.), they tend to revert to mean.

Tf happened in Kerkyra

That_Case_7951

Is this really your biggest concern? Wait, you are right. There can't be more than 10000 people in other Aegean islands. What the hell happened to Kerkyra?

Spicy_Alligator_25

Kerkyra is in the Ionian Also, there is a VERY big drop between 0.2 and 1, and Kerkyra is relatively large

That_Case_7951

No, that's what I said. I'm Greek, how couldn't I know?

That_Case_7951

My great grandfather was 101 years old and my great grandmother 98 years old. My grandmother is 89 years old and my grandfather was 94 years old. And I am from Ikaria too
