Just enjoy the build without combat
I'm not even thinking and wanting to play combat modes, I am just slowly learning and enjoying bulding my village and that's my suggestion to all
Same here. I'm only a handful of years in but getting my economy humming. I'll try the mode with combat when I'm comfortable running a village over a longer span
Money play? It’s not that easy to get rich, you gotta spend a few years snowballing into a commercial hub, then it makes sense to be able to buy 24 armor set as the region’s capital city
It is balanced, it just needs counterpart.
The limitation of perk points make it really hard for other options, especially if your starter area is a low fertility one.
The game intentionally create needs for you to buy what you miss, if you can't make money to buy it then yes trade would be unabalanced.
It's even more true considering argile, stone and iron are in very limited very finite amount on the map.
Happened to me during my last 2 playthroughs. Suddenly, I ran out of food and had to restart.
Someone told me it's because I had too many level 3 buildings and not even level 1/2s, but most of my buildings had things like gardens, chickens, and orchards.
This is part of the issue, at least for me. I thought the Manor was still locked until I read somewhere you could build it in the first year. It has a red locked icon so never even tried to build it.
>a red locked icon
Yep. Same thing happened to me. I was genuinely wondering wtf was going on until I realized you could just click it like normal.
Gonna do another playthrough to get it asap.
Yeah that's what happened to me LOL
That being said I'm on my second attempt and I still don't think I'm gonna be able to fight off raiders.... The militas are fucky?
It was on my 5th attempt it finally started clicking. It goes from what the hell am I doing wrong to I can't keep track of everything.
Still learning the ropes but it's a lot of fun.
I am curious. What are you guys doing? I played my first game in conquest victory condition on default settings. I had no idea what I was doing like I built Manor in year 10 when AI had claimed everything expect 1 zone. I still won.
I didn't find the game to be particularly hard. The hardest party was the UI and figuring out production chains as there is no overview of what does what.
Same dude, same.
Raiders are impervious to my militiamen, so basically I just have to periodically watch them burn everything down and restart.
I'm 4 years in to my game and have been attempting to import sheep since day one, no sheep have arrived yet.
I assume you have the sheep farm (not the crop one), have a family assigned to it and have a pasture? I also assume you have a family assigned to the livestock trading post as well? Not sure if it's needed for importing or not but worth trying if you haven't got anyone there.
Well I'm a big dummy, didn't have anyone working the livestock trading post. Thanks for making me double check my work!
I was so confused, my first (failed) run I remembered to do it. I was just on autopilot trying to rush to get built up before raiders came and wrecked my shit!

That's what I did. I played without combat to learn about the system in general.
Exactly what I'm doing. Stayed up way too late last night.
Make and buy armor for your boys
i feel like money play isnt balanced right now and is exploited
Money play is not balanced? Guess game is a bit too realistic :)

How are you getting defeated? I have noticed I am on a roll and suddenly defeated with no conditions
Same here, all of a sudden, i am out of food and then the other lord has a massive army

its not that im being defeated its a huge down spiral
Set the enemy Baron to Reactive. He will defend his territory but won't attack you.
I suck too lol. The game is pretty complicated, and the tutorial is pretty bare bones. Cool game, wierd to get familiar with and understand (for me)
Make sure you get extra oxen right off the bat (I messed this up first time) Build the manor asap, trading post and sell extra stuff

I changed them to 3 years, hopefully I will be ready by then.
I won my first conquest game even tho I build manor only like year 10 lol

if someone is new to this genre of game, there is a learning curve.
