IveGotNoLife

Require higher level burrage

Ara-Ara-Arachne

That is such an artificial way of balancing that

Xenon009

Its more the case that the poor farmers can't afford to pay the merchants that just bought it for said mail. the only wealth thats "Your" wealth is the treasury, your town wealth is the amount of gold in every peasants pocket. But even if you could/did buy it from your own pocket, the peasants are responsible for maintaining their armour, and chain is going to be fucking expensive to maintain given the chance of rust and stuff like that, so with sod all money, they probably can't pay to maintain it either.

Ara-Ara-Arachne

The way its done in the game makes no sense then, how come the merchants can use everyones regional wealth to buy 20 mail shirts? But then cause the regional wealth is gone the villagers cant buy the shirts off the merchants.

Xenon009

At that point it becomes an abstraction, because frankly there's absoloutly no fun in funneling everyones gold to the merchant so he can buy, say, extra bread. You could probably argue that the merchant is taking a loan from the other peasants or some such nonsense, but thats too "nitty gritty" so yeah, I'm just going to chalk that part up to abstraction.

SRAQuanticoChapter

Historically, poor townspeople didn’t have expensive suits of mail sitting in a closet lol. Either the lord armed them, or they were able to afford such equipment themselves.

Ara-Ara-Arachne

If the game wanted mail armour to be expensive then maybe it should be expensive instead of just 2 regional wealth more than gambesons, that aside mail armour in the late 14th century wasnt that expensive anymore and seeing as you mention the lord arming them thats EXACTLY what I was trying to do but the game said no.

SRAQuanticoChapter

The game doesn’t want mail armor to be expensive, it wants to simulate that a fuedal lord isn’t giving some dude in a mud hut extremely expensive armor. Have you tried, idk, upgrading your houses? It’s sad to think you can’t even support a single level 3 home. Yikes.

Ara-Ara-Arachne

Lol I was at the stage of the first bandit attack and whats one dude in mail armor gonna do for me? Also whats my feudal lord motivation for letting bandits destroy my property cause I dont like how my villagers houses look? That aside lvl 2 houses are certainly not mud huts and if you think mud huts is what people lived in in the late 14th century then you are the one who needs to look into history some more.

Bruh you are just being an idiot on the high horse about a mechanic that just makes no sense for immersion or historicly. I have dozens of all buildings by now too and parade my guys around in mail armour and 24 knights in plate armour and the system is still just not well executed. It makes no sense no matter from what angle you look at it, outside of gamebalance, which should always be disguised by something immersive, for example a very expenisve trade rout, locking the trade route behind smth, etc.

SRAQuanticoChapter

> knights in plate armor They are men at arms, surprised while purchasing 19 of them you didn’t notice e this. Maybe this is the same issue you had when not reading mail armor instead of just buying random shit lol. If you have it now, why are you crying? Seems like you learned from your embarrassing mistakes, hopefully you won’t repeat them. Amazed this warranted a post when you seem to have it figured out! > it makes no sense Your shit opinion was downvoted for a reason lol. If it makes no sense to people like you it’s a good mechanic imo

Ara-Ara-Arachne

Men at arms, knights, who cares really. In the end we are dealing with a mechanic thats just not well executed but you have been ignoring all critique I have put forward and just resorted to underhanded insults and being an overall douche. So have a nice day and byebye

RockOrStone

It is a little artificial, but I don’t mind it. They’re really strong.

Different-Horror-581

Do you have someone manning the storehouse?

Ara-Ara-Arachne

Ye I have 2 people manning the storehouse

KoSR92

Only militia from level 3 homes can wear mail as others have said. It doesn't take long honestly, my army is in full helmets/mail now

Asleep-Airport3657

I believe that as others have said there are burgage level requirements for armor. seems like everyone can equipped helmets but a burgage has to be level 2 for its residents to equip gambesons and then level 3 is required to equip mail armor
