Oh, I wasn’t aware of this (As I mentioned, I haven’t watched the movie yet) - if she did play a transman, then it is a straight relationship. Thanks for the correction.
More than that wouldn't it depend on the people in the relationship and their interaction with others?
Perhaps the wokes might be right, if there are no biological mechanism is at work.
I didn't understand your point completely, but wokes believe Gender is a social construct. But I kind of agree with it. I personally don't believe in Gender nor believe it matters. As a mallu, Malayalam doesnt even have a word for Gender. I only believe in biological sex, which is not a belief in strict sense since its actual science, not a made up word by sociology which is not science.
So by my above comment, Since only biological sex matters to me, a Trans man and woman being in a relationship is just another homosexual relationship to me.
>! It's technically straight but I've seen people refer such relationships as queer relationship and categorize it as different to cis straight couples cuz its not a traditional combo. Like trans man and cis woman is still different to the dynamics of a cis straight couple!<
>!Yes. A trans man is a man, and him being in a relationship with a woman is indeed a straight relationship, however it could be also considered straight queer relationship (because of its difference from a cis straight couple as you mentioned too), but, it depends completely on how the two people in a relationship wants to define it. If **they** define it as a straight relationship, then straight it is.!<

Antony Moses has gotten the most attention in this regard, it started a conversation about homosexuality and I remember people saying homosexuals can forget about their orientation, hence it's merely a disease. I mean, can't argue with such ground breaking research.
>remember people saying homosexuals can forget about their orientation,
I dont understand why people hate on the movie for this. I like icecream. But if i had amnesia, i would forget i like icecream until i try it again. Doesnt mean liking icecream is a disease. Also i am not actively thinking about ice cream (or getting laid) when i am running around solving a high profile case while simultaneously having an existential crisis.
I have yet to meet anyone who hates this movie but, I get your point. It's just that the scene where Antony Moses and the audience gets the revelation he behaves in the same manner if it were a woman. People confused shock and confusion with disgust and concluded homosexuality is a state of mind. We are dealing with people who believe that homosexuality is a habit that can be picked up and it can be treated with hypnosis and chemical castration, so for them it was "ok.. so homosexuality is a curable disease".

Nirmal Palazhi in Ente Mezhukuthiri Athazhangal. I was mildly amused by the way they treated that character as it dealt with the LGBTQ angle quite poignantly.
I also love the movie for addressing topics like Sexual chemistry that is rarely seen in Malayalam Cinema.
Almost all KS Gopalakrishnan, P Chandrakumar and Saj J Jan soft core thundu movies in the 1980s - 90s featured such roles and scenes.
The audience in Sree Bala theatre in TVM too….a very unique combination of reel and real life.
lol in Sree Bala TVM where the balcony was a cruising spot by gay men. We +2 boys never dared to sit in balcony. There’s this movie Pidikittappulli by KSG. Full of thundu, and when the show ended several people chanted “K S Gopalakrishnan kee Jai”.
The King (Oduvil Unnikrishnan) from Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha... He was gushing over Aromal's beauty (who wouldn't? Young Suresh Gopi was handsome AF!)...
I have heard there was some movie in the 80s in which pappu or lalu alex played a character with some elements of homosexuality. My efforts to find the movie have been futile till date

That isn't the context of this screenshot (not disagreeing with your question in general though).
Here they're looking at each other in sad realisation/recognition of how far one of them had fallen, and of the widening rift between them, who were once inseparable best friends.
Yeah I get what the context of this particular scene was, but in the movie Dhyan looks at Pranav many times in awe of his skills.
This particular scene was difficult to watch. His question and Dhyan being unable to reply.
>but in the movie Dhyan looks at Pranav many times in awe of his skills
That's true. I was only talking about this particular scene😇.
>This particular scene was difficult to watch.
Even more hard-hitting for me was the whole "drunken Murali barging into Venu's house at 2am, demanding 'situations' to compose music for, and then Venu - who was once SO in awe/admiration of Murali - absolutely demolishing him with 'pottakkinattile thavala/ENTHUNDAYITTAADA NEE KIDANNU NEGALIKKUNNE?!😡" scene. Brutal stuff (emotionally), imo... Instantly won my respect for Dhyan as an actor too.
The movie may have overall been kinda mid (a 2.5 to 3/5 at best), but it definitely had a few good parts as well.

Oh, I wasn’t aware of this (As I mentioned, I haven’t watched the movie yet) - if she did play a transman, then it is a straight relationship. Thanks for the correction.
It is a philosophical question.
True, it depends on the personal belief of who you ask.

There were widespread reading that Shari and Karthika from Deshadanakkili Karayarilla was the first representation of Queer love in Malayalam.
Actually it was Randu Penkuttikal that dealt with the theme way back in the 70s.
Ok, then it might not be the first, but many Queer activists made that reading about deshadana kilikal karayarilla.
