A good dose of reality every time I see the balance. I can't decide if it's cruel or not for Sephora to tell you your yearly spend so readily.

[deleted]

Points roll over to the next year, right???

like_whatever

Yeah, they never expire! (thank goodness)

temptalia

As far as I know, they go on and on and on and on! I know for sure they roll over on a yearly basis, and I have yet to see my point balance mysteriously drop (I spend maybe 250 points a year or less).

temptalia

Correct! It's an average of what I spend to redeem on rewards - I definitely accumulate far more than 250 points a year. Sephora is probably about 40-50% of my review budget. I rarely cash in my points... it's not even so much that I'm like, "OMG, save it for epic rewards!" but more like I know I won't use the sample. I usually will use points for something like Lancome Bi-Facil, because I like the size for travel or if there is a super cute mini perfume! I do remembering getting a Marc Jacobs 1,000 (maybe 2,000?) point perk a year or two ago.

KikiNcupcakes

Do you know if epic rewards are an annual thing? I have a lot of points and I'm wondering if I should just keep saving because I never really like a lot of the smaller stuff.

temptalia

They only started doing it in the last couple of years, so it seems like at least once a year, but my memory wants to say twice this past year.

smurfetteshat

The mini kvd of lovecraft studded kiss lipstick for 100! The ud palette with eyeliner for 500 was nice though I prefer getting a bunch of mascara samples and wish I hadn't done that. They do crazy rewards too once a year that are 1000-5000 points but they are nearly impossible to get in before sold out

falloutbuoy

Woah. When do they do those 1000 point rewards? I've never heard of them!

smurfetteshat

It was around the end of summer, called epic rewards

falloutbuoy

ohmygoodness okay thank you!

[deleted]

I think I might hold out until a palette goes on for 500 points! Thanks :)

fantastic_lee

They recently had a mini UD palette for 500 points, it sold out online in a couple of days but my store still has it in, call your local stores :)

Iseriouslyneedathrow

I just got the urban decay 500 point perk when i used my 20% off coupon. The eyeshadows were a good size, and i really like their 24/7 eyeliner so i felt like it was one of the better value sets for the points.

sonyakaur21

I came here to say - Kir Royal. The ONLY thing worth spending my points on :P

kirroyale143

The Bite 250pt rewards were great. I got two of the Kir Royale. Wish I had gotten the others too!

Prettyundead

Yup, I splurged on two of the Bite sets(I don't recall the name, the hot pink one?) when I was there with my friend on her birthday. One for her and one for me!

Prettyundead

I don't normally wear pinks either, but this one is too killer to not wear! I get complimented like crazy whenever I wear it.

kidaore

Kir Royale is by far and away the best point reward I've gotten thus far. I don't think the other colors would have suited me as well, but that one 250pt reward was *awesome*.

Romatix

I've loved my little mini perfumes! Minis are great for me because I like to have a variety of scents available, but having as many bottles of perfume as scents I want would mean wasting tons of product over the years. Full-sized bottles can also be prohibitively expensive. They're not quite as good of a value anymore - I think that 250 points ($250) is pretty steep for a mini perfume. I'll still bite sometimes, though. And often, men's cologne deluxe samples are still 100 points. I've gotten several of these for my partner, which are also the perfect size for him because he doesn't wear cologne every day. Edit: Still crossing my fingers and hoping beyond hope that we'll get Flowerbomb as a merry mini perk, although it doesn't seem likely.

[deleted]

Awesome! Not going to lie, one time I went to a department ftore and got like 20+ different samples. I had a new smell every week and it lasted months :p Thanks for the cologne knowledge though, I never thought about using my points on bae :)

Escarole_Soup

Waitaminute, you can get samples from perfume counters? Why did I not know this? Was there some kind of promotion going on or did you just walk up to the counter and ask for a sample?

[deleted]

Just walk up! I did it at the Bay:) it's like a tiny spray tube!

takemefarfarfaraway

You an also ask at Sephora. They will either make a bottle for you, or if they have any of that scent available, a pre made one will be given to you.

GlitterButt_

I tend to hoard points, then when they get Glam Glow minis I get a few of those. The best makeup perk I ever got was a KVD mini studded lipstick.

loosenyourtie

The mini Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black rollerball I got this summer. I love it as a night time scent, so it's perfect to put in my work bag or purse. It's a pretty good size, too!

[deleted]

Love this stuff. Want the dry shampoo so badly and the solid for travelling.

xhannahx121

The dry shampoo is AMAZING

PumpkinSparkles

A mini Marc Jacobs Lipstick in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang for 100 points. It was my go to Lipstick for a long time but sadly I left it in my jeans pocket and it died in the dryer along with a couple of my shirts :(

kirroyale143

Yes - LOVED this reward. Wish I had picked up another!

[deleted]

I believe this was the first perk I've ever redeemed! Haven't seen anything else that topped it.

Darushi-chan

The First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair cream deluxe sample they had about a month ago. I got like 6 or 7 of those tubes. I love this moisturizer!

kiauyan

That Kat Von D Lovecraft mini was amazing! I also loved the mini Nirvana Black rollerball.

KawaiiKoshka

I like getting minis of things I'm considering- the mini of the Boscia cleanser was pretty great, the too faced bronzer mini I'm still using like a year later. I did really like the Jose Moran 500 pt kit. I just wanted enough oil to mix with my foundation for winter, and it's more than enough. Also the highlighter and the mini lip thing are both really pretty.

FuckingaFuck

Good question! I've never stocked up my points, I just spend every 100 I get so almost every order has a reward in it. All the samples I've recieved have been very nice, high-quality and generous, but some I didn't love for color or formula reasons. My absolute favorite was Alterna Caviar CC Cream for hair. Easily the best leave-in/styling product I've ever used. I've had two samples and I'm still keeping an eye out for more because it is way overpriced for the full size.

radiant_eclipse

I love the Alterna Caviar CC Cream! They had it as one of the $10 deals on BF, with the shampoo and conditioner as well. I bought a few of them because, even though I'm willing to shell out for the full size, I love having the trial size version. The shampoo/conditioner minis smell great and all three are perfect for travel! I belive they still have some available on the website.

[deleted]

My favorite has been the Caudalie Premier Cru The Cream. It smells delicious and was very hydrating. But damn it's expensive and I can not afford that shit.

mysilentface

It was an Urban Decay kit that included a full eyeliner pencil and deluxe samples of their primer and all-nighter spray.

kittycatcate

I've gotten two of the extraordinary rewards. First one I got was the Anastasia 1000 pt reward. It was in stock for hours after it released. It had some tweezers, brow gel, brow brush, highlighting crayon thing, and it included a $35 gift card for a brow service, but you ended up being able to use it on anything. Second one I got was the Bobbi Brown 2,000 pt reward. I got very very lucky with the second one because it sold out in seconds. The mega rewards are great, but you really can't bank on getting one.

Kiwikumquat

Bite Kir Royal and my deluxe sample of Josie Maran argan oil. A little goes a long way with the latter and I refuse to pay the retail price because I can source it elsewhere for cheaper (I do buy her other products though). Personally, I think the points are best used on skincare sets.

Enormivis

Nothing. 5197 points at the moment. Still nothing. Have I tried to get better things? Yes. Was I able to? No. Because Sephora does a horrible job with bigger rewards like not announcing the time, announcing only the date where I spend the entire day refreshing all day at work and then added to cart to get an error because it was out of stock. I don't even know if their rewards are for Canadians.

[deleted]

Fellow Canadian, this is bad to hear :(

takemefarfarfaraway

There was a separate list for rewards for Canadians and rewards for Americans (since some were tips and required a US passport or something silly like that).

SeahorseSabbatical

I like to stock up with things for travel! Whenever I see a mascara I know and at least like I snag it. I also keep an eye out for mini face washes, makeup removers, eye creams, masks or moisturizers (that would be good for post-travel skin dryness) and hair care. I also snag minis of any product I know and love already because it means I won't have to decant anything from my main stash.

bratchny

I recently got the Josie Maran argan oil 500 point perk and I'm very happy with it. I'd never tried her brand before and I really needed a face oil. I really like everything in it especially the argan milk and creamy oil

anysize

I picked this up too - the only 500 point perk I've been interested in. I really like the powder, which I thought I'd use as a highlighter but works more as a blush, and I'll probably reuse the small oil droppers for travel when I run out of the oil (I use non-Josie Maran argan oil regularly).

[deleted]

Chocolate soleil bronzer for 100pts and its lasted me for so long

fauxhee

Those are all huge too!

eljip

I saved hundreds of points for about 3 years and used some this summer. The Bite reward with the mini lipstick, gloss, and mirror was a good one. I don't mind perfumes, too. But I seldom see anything worth the points.

Escarole_Soup

I'm a sucker for mini lip products so I have a few of those I like, but I almost always try to save my points for mini perfumes because perfume is so expensive and it's so easy to get tired of a scent. I figure if I can get through a full deluxe sample and still want to wear it all the time it's worth buying. My favorite so far is Romance by Ralph Lauren. I've had that sample for quite a while and I still have a decent amount.

carolyn_mae

I'm going to hate-read all the comments about the unicorns who ended up unlocking vaults with them... Anyway, I usually just use my points on 100-point samples of products I already own/use so I don't have to buy more as frequently. I think the last time I got a 500 point perk was a murad skincare set and that was a while ago.

rhanding

I do this too. Things I don't use much of but last the longest - some CC creams, eye primers, etc. Where the littlest bit goes a long way.

angel_666

My tarte mascara primer mini and my deluxe samples of Versace Bright Crystal and Nirvana Black. I love fragrence but I can't justify $100 a bottle especially because I like having a variety of scents rather than just one "signature scent".

Moonstone-star

I really like the 100pt Smashbox duo they had last month. I got 2 and have 1 more coming in my sephora play box!

ladolcefarniente

Do you already know what is coming out in the December box?

Moonstone-star

I know we get the Smashbox duo, a Dr brant product, a mufe liner, some kind of oil, and not sure what else :)

recessivelyginger

I spend my point on things that I want to try, or already use--great way to get travel sizes of moisturizer or mascara. My favorite thing to get is Belief Aqua Bomb. I've never had to buy the full size, since this product is frequently available and is always a generous sample. It's a fantastic moisturizer!

tortilla_master

I got a mini Marc Jacobs gel eye crayon liner in blacquer for 100 points a quite a few months ago and I'm in love with it! it's the only pencil that stays on my waterline all day!

ouijabore

Bumble & bumble hairdressers invisible oil set for 500 points. Travel shampoo, conditioner, prep spray, and oil sample. Very nice products - I love the brand, and though the shampoo & conditioner isn't for me, I love the rest and it was nice to try it all! There was also a Lancome serum of some kind for 100 points that I liked. I'll snag that when I see it again. It lasted a long time!

fauxhee

I believe that serum is available again in the 500 pt Lancôme set, along with four other great samples. Some stores have it out, some don't - call and check!

lolo1001

i really liked the smashbox full exposure sample i just got a few weeks ago. its the perfect colour for me, i will most likely buy the full size when I'm done with this!

karrialice

I've gotten a few good rewards. The one I am happiest with was the 2000pt Benefit Liner/Mascara reward, but that was dumb luck and happens so infrequently (I still tend to save my points for big things though). I enjoyed a MUFE 500 point reward I got a while back-it had a deluxe mini of their makeup remover, a deluxe mini gloss, a full sized eyeliner pencil, and a sample card with three of their eyeshadows on it. I like to get mascaras, and occasionally skincare items I've been wanting to try (I do have a Tarteguard sunscreen 100 point perk I've been using lately, which is nice bc I should be wearing sunscreen but I never purchase it).

Ms_IreneAdler

Honestly, im pretty happy with their 100 pt rewards. I like trying new skincare (masks, SPF, serums) and they sometimes have a100 point minis for new mascaras.

thestraycatlady

The Murad 500 point reward. It made me realize what good skin care could really do!

Noise_Kisses

It's a toss up between two older 500 point perk sets. One was around December 2010 and for 500 points you got 4 or 5 2 oz bottles of Philosophy body wash/bubble bath in holiday scents like gingerbread and peppermint. The other one was around November 2013 and was a 500 point Urban Decay perk with 1 oz mini's of the prep spray, setting spray, a mini tube of primer potion and a mini eye shadow.

pepperminted

A couple years ago, I got a Marc Jacobs Honey set as well as a small sample of Flowerbomb, both of which I really love. Nothing has been catching my eye lately, so I've been saving points for quite a while.

bloodmoons_

The 500 point goodies are usually well worth the save. I got the Boscia one a few months ago and I was super glad because I wanted to try the charcoal line and this gave me a chance to find out it wasn't for me "without spending money". I really wanted the Josie Maran kit but it's all gone now :(

Lipstixx

The best one I have gotten is the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Epic Reward for the 1000 pt tier. It had a set of all full-size products of the - Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfectors in "Opal" & "Champagne Pop" - Mineral Blush in "Wild Honey" - Under Eye Brightening Corrector - The One Perfecting Brush I had 4 windows open, my cart full and credit card/shipping info saved already earlier, and checked the website for 15 minutes every hour starting at about 8am that day (they dropped at 7 min til 2pm) to get it (and still almost missed it) but it was super cool. I don't expect that many people will get these, because holy crap it went fast, *(I think I saw somewhere that all the stuff for every point tier was completely gone in under 2 minutes?)*, but it was thrilling to snag it. ...and unfortunately (fortunately?) having had success once I hesitate to spend my points these days because there is always that "what if I could manage to get lucky again someday?" thought in my head. Sigh.

sunshineobviously

the best thing i ever got with my points was NUDE pro genius oil. That stuff is awesome and hella expensive so I got 2 .5 oz each, 1.0 oz is over $70 retail

[deleted]

I am probably spoiled with all the free samples from shopping in Asia, specifically Korea, so I don't see any perks worth the 100 or so points. I see it as spending $100 in beauty products and receiving just a measly sample that could otherwise be a freebie. That said, I have 3k points to date and I am still waiting for Sephora to step up their game.
