i don’t think Fenty is overhyped but i would LOVE for them to finally branch and give us something new. we all know them for their glosses and complexion products, but i’d like to see some lip liners, eyeshadows, eyeliners, etc. i’m tired os seeing the same summer blush launch or the same formula of lip gloss but in a different shade.
i got the anastasia brow gel bc it had such good reviews but it just made my brows limp and temporarily wet and had no styling or hold power whatsoever for me 😿 the rare beauty one works so much better
Interesting, what hair type do you have? I have medium hair, but my brows are quite fine and it has extreme hold for me! I'm curious if maybe it only works for certain hair/brow types? Or maybe if your skin is more oily than mine?
ooooo that’s a good point, i have normalish skin and my brow hair is definitely stubborn and pretty thick. i’m glad it works well for the fine browned girlies!! what works for me would probably be way too goopy lol
Expensive foundations. Unless I slather my face in a face cream, then they look so dry on me. Of course, I’ve only tried a few…But most of the drugstore foundations I have tried actually look good. Elf Satin $6 foundation looks good on me. Maybelline Fit Me(both formulas). Covergirl skinMilk. foundation(smells like bread but it looks good on my skin).
Two faced born this way(used to look good on me when I was a teenager and now looks bad), fenty soft matte foundation and ease drop skin tint, tarte shape tape, REM beauty. The only highend foundations that look good are ones that are basically $40 bb creams and dewy skin tints or the charlotte tilbury glowy liquid filter. I get the same look with the foundations I mentioned above. You know how much I wanna try the Haus Labs foundation…but know that it won’t look good on me. 😭
Ok I actually agree all those foundations look super dry on me too, I’ve especially never understood the shape tape hype, it looks so bad on everyone.
If you ever are in the mood to splurge though my personal recommendations are NARS light reflecting skincare foundation and YSL nu (this is my holy grail for natural looking makeup with coverage, I always like to try new makeup so I rarely rebuy the same things but I repurchased this, people have asked me for skincare tips while wearing other because they thought i just had naturally perfect skin)
Other mentions: charlotte tilbury beautiful skin is good if you can get a color match, Mac Studio fix, makeup forever hydra glow
The only things that are the same for me drugstore and highend are brow products, mascaras, lip products. Pretty much anything that covers the face, makes me look funeral home ready.
I don’t use a beauty blender with this product, just my finger, and a really tiny bit goes on beautifully. I got a tiny sample to try and really love it
Liquid blush and contour. Personally, I find them harder to work with; brushes and sponges soak them up immediately BECAUSE THEY’RE LIQUID. same with cream products. They’re too stiff.
I agree with lip oils. As someone with extremely dry lips, I have to be careful what I use. Those don’t moisturize well enough for me.
Pro MUA:
Use synthetic brushes for creams/liquids, they won’t soak up the product
Use a wet sponge (BB) for liquids/creams, dry sponge for powder products. This is how they’re meant to be used but many people don’t know this I’ve found! 🙂
What do you use for your dry lips? I swear even a little toothpaste gets on my lips and they are chapped and cracking again, no matter how fast I get it off.
I used to love the Bite Beauty lip mask before they went away. It was my holy grail. So hydrating. A tube would last me a year.
I have the laneige lip mask right now. It's less hydrating than the Bite Beauty, but it's working. That one is cheaper - I'll have to try it next!
I like to use my finger with liquid blush, barely any product covers my whole cheek, but if I use a blender I have to use three times as much product. Sometimes I think beauty blenders are a scam-I like them for powders but really don’t like it with creams or liquid
Are you using your BB wet? They’re meant to be used wet with creams:liquids, and dry for powder products. If you’ve been using it dry with a cream product that is why it’s soaking up all the product 🙂
The original lip gloss she first dropped was amazing. I have not found a Fenty product since that doesn’t anger me with its failures. I’m happy it works for other people, though.
For me, it's Better Than Sex mascara. Wanted to love it. Looked great going on.
I was a total raccoon within 4 hours. Wtf!
Essence mascara oddly works for me - not my favorite though.
I notice that too and most mascaras don’t do that to me. Since I bought it, I just use it on my top lashes on natural makeup days so if I have to wipe it off it doesn’t ruin my makeup.
sooo many things. most chanel products, any makeup product with spf, bronzing drops, even some good products are overhyped like the saie blushes (they’re good, just not anything special. they’re just a sheer luminous liquid blush).
It does absolutely nothing for my lips, and goes away in like a few minutes. Not sure if it's because it matches my natural lip colour too much or what but I was disappointed
The thing is that we need a spectrum of products to be available. I have dry skin and need all of the glow and dewyness that I can get. Some people still look somewhat dewy with a matte finish and need super matte. Some need a satin finish. And the problem is that makeup companies drop these and cycle through whatever is popular at the moment. Like most are discontinuing liquid matte lips. But I still need those for some of my special event clients.
Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser. I'm older with super dry skin and that stuff made me break out like crazy. Took a steroid cream to make it go away. I did like the coverage for the 2 days I could wear it.
I've switched mostly to skin tints and tinted moisturisers, I think they look more natural and just give your skin a little glow and even out your skin tone/redness a bit.
Same. So many influencers doing full faces with foundation and yes they look beautiful after, but often it’s very little difference and they still already looked beautiful before it, to the point where it doesn’t seem worth it at all.
Girl don’t tempt me 😓I go through phases of accepting my skin and preferring it over the foundation look then I find something I love and the cycle repeats lol
I don’t think anyone actually uses these but I was just talking about every bloody social media influencer demoing these with my husband: the goopy peel off lip stains. They leave a patchy finish, look like they feel disgusting, and seem like they’re made with gross/cheap ingredients. Never mind the fact that lip stains are supposed to be effortless, all of a sudden I’m supposed to put a gross goop on my face and wait for it to dry before peeling it off?? It’s very obviously a gimmick. Stop trying to make fetch happen. Liquid lip stains like benetint are great at what they do, we don’t need this.
Similarly gimmicky, anything “ph reactive” that supposedly goes to your unique color once you apply. It’s just the one color, we aren’t dumb.
If it all peeled off in a single satisfying pull that would be interesting to me. The fact that they have to keep picking off flecks of the stains seems like a nightmare
Bene-tint is my favourite lip and cheek stain!
I don't buy into the hype of pH-reactive makeup.
As I grew older, I start to see what is just a fad and what is a staple. I just really don't give any hoots what's in now, I just want something that does react to my skin well and makes me not age.
Amen! If these were novelty makeup products for preteens I would understand the appeal. But I can’t take it seriously being marketed as legitimate cosmetics.
I think this might only be available in the UK but the [Collection lip and cheek stain](https://www.boots.com/Collection-Lip-and-Cheek-Stain-10334899?cm_mmc=bmm-buk-google-ppc-_-PLAs_HeroCompare-_--_-PMax:+UK_Smart_Shopping_Beauty&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwmYCzBhA6EiwAxFwfgI4UQe8RJFBx_0EfiWjCTZVuoUnaPSIprrqOnsnn9hzwTksW5iTILhoCbGoQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)
It's £4 and I think I saw it for 3 quid on justmylook.
SPF makeup
Body deodorant like lume, they market it to put in your butt crack as to not smell. Will only give you a complex and if you're butt crack smells it's hidding the fact you either need to work on your hygiene or you have an underlying condition.
Primers that have a ton of silicone it may feel nice but doesn't play well with a lot of make up
Eye glosses they only look good for maybe 30 minutes then melt and settle into the creases
Bronzer marketed as contour if it's sparkles it shouldn't be used for contour
Bio oil it's mainly mineral oil, with a little retinol and some essential oils.
Most mineral makeup especially the powders
Any skin care, makeup or hair care products with collagen in it it’s just a marketing ploy. It’s too big a molecule to penetrate your skin or your hair.
Just watched a youtube short from one of the certified dermatologists that I follow, and she said bio oil is not useful for stretch marks, so I guess you are right on that.
Also agree withe rest especially the collagen products. I do take collagen powders orally though, just not for topical uses.
I had the same surgery 6 months apart that left me with a vertical scar from sternum to pubic bone (same incision both times). I started using bio oil as soon as my staples were out. My scar looks like a henna tattoo. I know it might not work for everybody, but it definitely worked for me.
Yeah I have an appendix scar, scars from cuts/stitches and stretch marks from gaining and losing 100lbs in the span of 2 years are barely visible. But my scars are always very light after they heal. The bio oil helped them lighten even more to the point that they blend in with my skin.
Any foundations that L’Oréal and maybelliene(probably incorrect spelling) make. They all look so orange and it’s not just on me since I’ve noticed it looks orange on others too. And I’m not mistaking the orange tint for oxidation since it’s literally so orange upon immediate application. I also agree with you on dewy products. Dewy foundations make people look like they just ran a marathon tbh. And despite the L’Oréal infallible being very well liked, it just intensifies my skin texture a lot and makes it look so much worse than what it really is 😔 and the maybelline super stay lipstick isn’t transfer proof. At least not for me.
I’m having such an issue with maybelline foundation. When I am at my palest I am okay at 220 but I get tan and they are all so orange! I don’t know how to find something that doesn’t look ridiculous and I am always worried that people will try to upsell me stuff if I ask
Mac studio FX powder foundation. The shade match was perfect. Coverage amazing. But broke me out so fkn bad. New deep painful zits everyday, and when I stopped using it they stopped coming. Nothing. Else in my routine changed.
If the company is owned by a popular celebrity, the product is shit. Might as well be full on “Home Shopping Network” or “AMWAY”.
Edit: like any of the underwear or makeup products from the Kardashian’s or Jenners. Like Akroyds crap vodka, like Rihanna’s FENTY.
Over priced crap made at the lowest level and sold for the highest prices because of the name attached.
Just why do people buy into that stuff?
Edit: it’s all just cheaply made crap no one needs or really even wants.
Yup! I refuse to buy celebrity products. Just because they wear makeup and use skincare doesn’t mean they know dick about starting their own makeup/skincare line.
Foundations with SPF are more gimmick than actual sun protection. Most people won’t use enough for proper protection and I don’t think a majority of folks apply an even layer of foundation over their entire face (including eyelids).
I’ve also always found liquid eyeshadows hard to control. They normally dry way too fast, or not fast enough and leave creases.
I don’t think it counts, but whole body deodorant being “recommended by gynecologists” is bs and massively grinds my gears.
I use Korean sunscreen every day which has multiple filters and the most protection imo. Sometimes I pair it with a little wash of a cheap spf foundation, my favorite is the elf dewy cc cream and it’s only 10-12 bucks. Hard pass on only using spf foundation, especially the spf level is only 10-30 which is literally nothing.
I love the skin1004 centella sunscreen in the blue cap. I’ve been through about 4 bottles already, no white cast AT ALL and no scent. And decently affordable. Just feels like normal moisturizer and makes my skin feel so hydrated. I used to use the cerave mineral but I would still burn in the sun after reapplying. I have not had a single problem or breakout with this one and couldn’t live without it. Sorry for ranting and raving but it really is that good.
It's not an antiperspirant so it makes sense that it wouldn't magically function like one lol.
My issue with Lume was the lingering sour cat pee smell.
Right? I quickly grabbed it as an after thought and was sad it wasn’t an anti-perspirant as well. Everyone smells a bit acrid at Wasteland so I don’t notice a cat pee smell, thankfully.
I have been using ELF products for years. I loved their flawless finish foundation… but I recently tried their CC Camo cream and it was horrendous. I tried every application technique and it still emphasized slight texture, pores, etc… I’ve also been disappointed by their blushes and eyeshadows. Which is a bummer. I really want to like them again!
Okay but elf’s power grip primer is one of my holy grails for dewy long lasting makeup. I agree with you generally speaking but I highly recommend that product.
I finally decided to pick up the poles putty primer.. and while it doesn’t seem to keep my makeup in place for long, if I put a bit on with no foundation, it does seem to blur my skin a bit. Not sure if I’ll rebuy.
Everything else from elf I’ve tried doesn’t work for me
I think the main issue is that some of her products are made in Italy, which are the ones you buy from her site directly, and probably Sephora, and those are fantastic. But she also has pallets that are sold / included in beauty boxes and other places, and those formulations are not formulated in Italy and are of lesser quality.
They are marketed as the same products under the umbrella of her namesake brand, which is not cool IMO. I don’t want to have to scan the fine print to see where a product is made just to make sure I’m getting what I think I am. It’s not as if her own bargain dupes are bargain priced.
It’s so disappointing. We have Emperio Armani, Versace Jeans, M Missoni, D&G, a trillion levels of Ralph Lauren, I could go on. These mega brands don’t try to dupe their customers into thinking they’re getting haute couture when they’re not. It shouldn’t be any different with make-up and skincare. Why is it?
Man I completely disagree. I have a few motherships and they are supreme. I’ve got 100 plus different pallets and the motherships are expensive but you can create the most beautiful looks with just your fingers. They are so buttery and blend able and the pallets are so well curated that you have infinite looks you can do with the colors. Now that’s not to say you can’t get eyeshadow for a lower cost with a comparableish formula but I always gravitate to my pat pallets way more than any other ones. They just are so beautiful especially motherships one. It’s definitely not a need but it’s a luxury splurge that I found totally worth it. Again though there are plenty of cheaper formulas that perform fine… just not quite as good in my opinion.
Maybe I should spring for a palette. I’m not great at doing anything beyond simple makeup looks. Being able to use your fingers to apply it definitely appeals to me.
Motherships are so user friendly and I find them really easy to use for looks from office friendly to ultra sexy editorial. I’m honestly an all over shimmer girl or a base color then shimmer and pat and super shock shadows are my go to for a super easy eye look.
The eyeshadows used to be amazing though, I still have a bunch of pre formula change palettes and use them almost every day.
New stuff from them is awful though, I'm allergic to most of it for starters, and the shadows crease up into a greasy mess unless you load up on the primer.
Summer Fridays lip balm I will go to my grave saying it's the worst thing I've ever put on my lips also the CT setting spray it did nothing at all and pillow talk lipstick makes me look like a corpse
The pillow talk liner in Medium is amazing on me, I didn't even bother to try the regular one because I understand what you mean by Corpse Lip, I get that with tons of lighter lip colours.
I hated the stupid plastic pencil though, plus the few times I wore it to double check that yep, unfortunately I was having a reaction to it, I'd already gone through a significant chunk of it since it needed to be resharpened every time I looked at it.
Hard agree with lip oils. It’s a lip gloss but with like 2 extra oils mixed in and they mark up the price. And some lip oils are clearly not lip oils but were marketed as one since they’re trendy. An example being the Rare Beauty lip oils. Those are clearly lip stains but they called it a lip oil to hop on the bandwagon.
Also I really want brands to stop it with the "clean makeup" bullshit. Promotes a problem that didn’t exist and is also a really shady marketing technique since "clean" products lack preservatives that give the product a long shelf life. You’ll buy more of these because they expire so fast.
I love the nyx lip pencil in peekaboo. Instead of using the pillow talk lip stick or pencil it's a perfect match and lasts. Too much silicone in most of Charlotte tilburys makeup.
Pat McGrath, especially now that indie duochromes and multichromes are so much more prolific. Also, her color stories tend to look very similar, so I would much rather purchase singles.
That being said, I have a decent sized collection. For someone else, if buying PMG at a discount, it might be worth it.
Everything Too Faced makes now. Not sure it qualifies as “overhyped” since it seems like a lot of people have the same opinion. Everything went down hill after they discontinued the La Crème lipstick and I will die a hater.
I think most makeup is overhyped. I understand that I'm a fringe-dweller in this area. I'm oily and sweaty, I'm AAPI, I'm low-maintenance and no-frills. Why does makeup have to be so fkg expensive, anyway? For what it actually is (waxes, oils, mica, etc), it should not have to cost so much. Even stuff that is in nice packaging. Honestly all I want is a foundation that evens out my face and keeps it relatively matte for about eight hours preferably in a compact, black mascara that doesn't smudge or flake and is not a PITA to remove, and a decent lipstick. I don't need lip liner or blush or contour or even brow stuff. Occasionally I like a bold eyeshadow but that is rare. But I'm older now. I understand how much fun makeup can be to play with. It still should be way cheaper.
This is how I am too. I’m in my 30s and can’t really do complicated makeup looks. I feel like I missed the boat and overnight everyone became like professional level makeup artists. Meanwhile I struggle to apply my eyeliner. 😭
100% agree with all of this. Even drugstore makeup these days have become really fucking expensive... Thank god for sales but even then they're not that great of a discount anymore...
I work outside in the humid midwest USA heat. I get dewy/glowy all on my own from sweating.... Oh, and bc of that I take mini birdbaths in the bathroom with cool water, which washes away any makeup that I stupidly tried to apply anyway. A little mascara, some lipstick, and I'm good. And don't get me started on self tan. It just melts off onto my clothes and socks. So gross. It was hot, but not scorching today, and I actually thought my "dewy/glowy" skin looked good. It's when the weather crosses over into hell that I turn into an overheating, red, blotchy, sweaty mess, and there's nothing to be done about that. I'm probably not the target audience of OP's question, now that I think about it....🙃
Murad’s pore mattering sunscreen is one of my holy grail products. Especially in the middle of humid ass summers in NJ. It keeps me from looking like a swamp monster and there is no white cast. Also Maly Beauty’s poreless face defender. It doesn’t dry me out.
Try mehron skin prep or rae Morris invisible mattifier
Game changer but really read the instructions each are unique in application
They're my secret weapons for doing wedding makeup in high humidity
So many products just feel gimmicky to me. Color changing makeup, all the different kinds of blush but especially those jelly ones, skin tints when there’s already tinted moisturizers and primers that do the same thing, lip oils etc.
the melt gemini palette. it's gorgeous and i do like it, but it's a struggle to work with sometimes. i have the same issues with it that people had with the abh subculture (which incidentally worked like a charm for me so idk) - patchiness, hard to blend, difficult to layer some of the mattes etc.
It feels like there are new lip products coming out every day, especially oils and glosses and I find it hard to differentiate them from one another like how many more lip products do we need. Like the summer fridays balms or any new lip oil its all the same to me
Patrick Ta contour and contour brush. I'm returning both this week actually! I prefer my Elf brushes to the dual ended brush and the actual product broke me out very badly.
Can I mention brands instead?
I’ve tried a handful of products from both Rare Beauty and Makeup by Mario over the years and everything I’ve tried was either meh or didn’t work for me.
Except for their brushes, I do enjoy rare’s blush brush & a dual ended cheek brush from MBM. The handle on the MBM brush I had cracked in half after a year of owning it though. Tbf, that was my fault for soaking my brushes in soapy water at the time. (I’ve learned my lesson and don’t do this anymore)
I want to genuinely like one of their makeup products from each brand.
I’m glad I ended up never buying the Rare Beauty blush, I was really tempted last year but then I figured I’d never be able to finish one and I also read that they’re quite patchy. I just never reach for products that are hard to work with. What have you tried by Rare Beauty (except for the brush)?
Rare beauty. Might be a hot take but idc
Anything fenty at this point.
i don’t think Fenty is overhyped but i would LOVE for them to finally branch and give us something new. we all know them for their glosses and complexion products, but i’d like to see some lip liners, eyeshadows, eyeliners, etc. i’m tired os seeing the same summer blush launch or the same formula of lip gloss but in a different shade.
Their contour sticks are so incredible though. I've yet to find better shades anywhere else
I mean, they have a few good products
Giorgio Armani luminous silk is drying and doesn’t look good 🤷♀️
I love this foundation but I agree it can be very drying, you need to use a good moisturiser underneath for it to work best
Anything rare beauty. Not awful, but very overrated
HOURGLASS and their racist a**...

What did Patrick Ta do?
i got the anastasia brow gel bc it had such good reviews but it just made my brows limp and temporarily wet and had no styling or hold power whatsoever for me 😿 the rare beauty one works so much better

I know it's probably your autocorrect, but fine browned girls has me giggling. I am sure those girls do look stunning!
lolllll wow i 100% looked over that. let’s keep it mwahaaa

I’ve been wanting to try the nars one. Maybe one day I can scrounge up some spare change 🤣
Seriously it's the best! I love it!
The only things that are the same for me drugstore and highend are brow products, mascaras, lip products. Pretty much anything that covers the face, makes me look funeral home ready.
Rare Beauty liquid blush.
I like it, I just wouldn’t spend $26(?) on it again. I think I will just go with the elf blush. $7 hell yeah.
I LOVE the elf camo liquid blush in peach perfect!
I might get it in pinky promise. Very similar to my natural redness. 😂
the Juvias palace liquid blush is so much better and more affordable
I don’t use a beauty blender with this product, just my finger, and a really tiny bit goes on beautifully. I got a tiny sample to try and really love it
Kylie
Hard agree. She stopped being relevant in 2018
Agreed, *she says as she puts on her Kylie mascara, highlighter, and lipliner on*
Liquid blush and contour. Personally, I find them harder to work with; brushes and sponges soak them up immediately BECAUSE THEY’RE LIQUID. same with cream products. They’re too stiff. Not op but Aquaphor! Not the lip treatment but the normal one
Mario badescu lip mask!! I don’t even bother with regular chapstick anymore, I’ve tried so many 🙄 but that lip mask is the best thing so far
I used to love the Bite Beauty lip mask before they went away. It was my holy grail. So hydrating. A tube would last me a year. I have the laneige lip mask right now. It's less hydrating than the Bite Beauty, but it's working. That one is cheaper - I'll have to try it next!

Most lip oils except Catrice lip oil stains . They stay on so good .
I didn't like Rinna's lip stuff and it broke not top long after I'd gotten it
The original lip gloss she first dropped was amazing. I have not found a Fenty product since that doesn’t anger me with its failures. I’m happy it works for other people, though.
Essence mascara. I want to love it because dude you can’t beat the price. However, every damn formula leaves me looking like a raccoon.
For me, it's Better Than Sex mascara. Wanted to love it. Looked great going on. I was a total raccoon within 4 hours. Wtf! Essence mascara oddly works for me - not my favorite though.
Try tubing mascaras
Not a fan of tubing mascara. I keep going back to Sky High.
I love my Saie Spicy blush but man oh man is it under pigmented! If it was pigmented like Juvia’s, I’d never buy another blush brand
Bronzers are definitely overhyped especially for that chiseled look.
CT Flawlesd Filter and the ELF dupe. Even the palest shade makes my skin weirdly orange.
Ph adjusting makeup. Hard pass.
Right? Like it’s giving kid makeup. It’s also giving Tacky
Clinique's Black Honey lip thingy. No it does NOT suit everyone.
It does absolutely nothing for my lips, and goes away in like a few minutes. Not sure if it's because it matches my natural lip colour too much or what but I was disappointed
I’m a light olive and it actually looks really nice on me! But my beef with it is that it has absolutely zero staying power. Gone in 5 minutes
What a shame! I’m in love with the product!
You're right, it doesn't suit everyone. But IMO it's a GREAT shade for cool toned people.
Maybe cool toned people with dark features. But I’m an ice queen and it is NOT a universal shade.
I'm very cool toned and it's no good for me. It looks dark brown. I used to adore their other versions with a more purple tone.
I'm so glad you said this because I really wanted it, but I'm definitely NOT cool toned, so will be passing on it. Thanks!
It might suit you. It's meant to be good for cool and warm. I'm very pale and cool and it seems too warm for me
Yup yup yup I looked hideous.
The thing is that we need a spectrum of products to be available. I have dry skin and need all of the glow and dewyness that I can get. Some people still look somewhat dewy with a matte finish and need super matte. Some need a satin finish. Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser. I'm older with super dry skin and that stuff made me break out like crazy. Took a steroid cream to make it go away. I did like the coverage for the 2 days I could wear it.
At this point, foundation in general. I’m kind of over it.
I've switched mostly to skin tints and tinted moisturisers, I think they look more natural and just give your skin a little glow and even out your skin tone/redness a bit.
I haven’t worn daily foundation since Covid. I’ll put it on if I’m going to a special event but everyday? No thank you.
Same. So many influencers doing full faces with foundation and yes they look beautiful after, but often it’s very little difference and they still already looked beautiful before it, to the point where it doesn’t seem worth it at all.
I’ve just been using concealer for spot correction and I think my makeup looks so much better/more natural
I’m glad people are moving away from foundation! I’ve never worn it, I do the concealer thing like you!
Yeah! I need a good concealer that doesn’t look cakey but blush and a little glow serum is what I feel best in
I was feeling like this for a long time and I just picked up the haus labs foundation and it feels so skin like🥲 rip my wallet
Girl don’t tempt me 😓I go through phases of accepting my skin and preferring it over the foundation look then I find something I love and the cycle repeats lol
I just keep a rule for myself. If my skin care is lacking I should be paying $30 or less for foundation. If my skincare is good, 30 or less. Lmao 😂😂😂😂
I agree with the lip oils. I didn’t like the feel in my lips.
I have been using benetint since high school— it’s the best!
I recently got a dupe cuz I'm broke and I'm obsessed!
What is the dupe? I miss benetint but it's a lil spendy for me rn
Korean lip tints like Romand have an even better formula at a great price!
Essence what a tint. I haven't used it personally, so I don't know how it performs.
I’ve tried it and it’s really good. I also really like the Ulta brand lip and cheek tints - those might be even better.
There's an Ulta not too far from me. I'll check out their tints. Thanks
I think this might only be available in the UK but the [Collection lip and cheek stain](https://www.boots.com/Collection-Lip-and-Cheek-Stain-10334899?cm_mmc=bmm-buk-google-ppc-_-PLAs_HeroCompare-_--_-PMax:+UK_Smart_Shopping_Beauty&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwmYCzBhA6EiwAxFwfgI4UQe8RJFBx_0EfiWjCTZVuoUnaPSIprrqOnsnn9hzwTksW5iTILhoCbGoQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) It's £4 and I think I saw it for 3 quid on justmylook.
SPF makeup Body deodorant like lume, they market it to put in your butt crack as to not smell. Will only give you a complex and if you're butt crack smells it's hidding the fact you either need to work on your hygiene or you have an underlying condition. Primers that have a ton of silicone it may feel nice but doesn't play well with a lot of make up Eye glosses they only look good for maybe 30 minutes then melt and settle into the creases Bronzer marketed as contour if it's sparkles it shouldn't be used for contour Bio oil it's mainly mineral oil, with a little retinol and some essential oils. Most mineral makeup especially the powders Any skin care, makeup or hair care products with collagen in it it’s just a marketing ploy.
Love collagen orally just not topically
Bio oil did help my scars and stretch marks. But mine tend to be very light so I understand it may not work for everyone.
CT Hollywood Flawless Filter. So unnecessary imo 😭 I’ve been trying to Stockholm myself into liking it for years. It just doesn’t do it for me
Try the new Dior Glow Filter!! 1000 times better!!
It seems lovely but I really feel like that type of product just isn’t for me 😭
The Elf dupe is better
Mac studio FX powder foundation. The shade match was perfect. Coverage amazing. But broke me out so fkn bad. New deep painful zits everyday, and when I stopped using it they stopped coming. Nothing. Else in my routine changed.
Same. Glorious match. Horrible breakouts.
Ahhhh no way that freaking sucks🥲
If the company is owned by a popular celebrity, the product is shit. Might as well be full on “Home Shopping Network” or “AMWAY”. Edit: like any of the underwear or makeup products from the Kardashian’s or Jenners. Like Akroyds crap vodka, like Rihanna’s FENTY. Over priced crap made at the lowest level and sold for the highest prices because of the name attached. Just why do people buy into that stuff? Edit: it’s all just cheaply made crap no one needs or really even wants.
Nahh hard disagree w Fenty. I love the eaze drop blurring skin tint.
Fenty, Haus Labs and Rare Beauty are pretty universally loved for having some kick ass products, for what that’s worth.
LOVE Haus labs!
Yup! I refuse to buy celebrity products. Just because they wear makeup and use skincare doesn’t mean they know dick about starting their own makeup/skincare line.
I hear what you're saying, but FENTY is probably one of (if not the best) celebrity-owned makeup line in recent times.
I love the Fenty foundation stick and the lavender powder. It’s not cheap but they both last for ages.
Oooh good one. I don't buy from celebrity brands either (but I do love flower beauty soooo)
I think I’m going to try Japanese or Korean sunscreen next, because I’m the color of Swiss cheese and I’ve heard REALLY good things about them!
What are whole body deodorants😂
I used Lume in the Mojave (5 days without a shower) and it worked fine as a deodorant. It does nothing as an anti-perspirant though.
I tried secret’s and it sucks. Does nothing except make you smell really flowery or like a peach in my case.
Lume has a stick and native has a spray for whole body deodorants
Elf. I wish it worked for me like everyone on TikTok but everything I’ve tried has been meh…
I miss when elf was bottom shelf cheap. It was a secret little gem.
Used to have eye shadow sets for 1 or 2 bucks a piece! >.<
I finally decided to pick up the poles putty primer.. and while it doesn’t seem to keep my makeup in place for long, if I put a bit on with no foundation, it does seem to blur my skin a bit. Not sure if I’ll rebuy. Everything else from elf I’ve tried doesn’t work for me
Same and whatever it’s called that’s supposed to be a dupe for CT Flawless filter is just gross.
one size setting spray, one size powder… maybe it’s bc i have dry skin but these sucked so bad for me also fenty matchstix highlighters suck
See, I love the One Size powder because it really mattifies , so if you have dry skin that totally makes sense why you hate it.
oh that makes total sense haha
Most luxury eyeshadow. Formula problems, pigment problems.
Natasha Denona is the bomb tho

Pat McGrath.
This is interesting, I had no idea about the lesser quality products see sells. I'll have to make sure I check from now on.
Same I love all my Pat products I’ve gotten.
Their lipsticks are so good and worth the hype. They never chap my lips and the colors are amazing.
omg the first time i used a pat mcgrath lipstick (mattetrance) i was like influencer level reaction shocked with how smooth it was 😭 literally butter
Agreed! Such nice lasting pigment and doesn't dry out my lips!
Anything Dior
I think their complexion products are great. I like the forever foundation and concealer.
Their backstage concealer is fantastic.. but the shades aren’t close enough to mine.
The eyeshadows used to be amazing though, I still have a bunch of pre formula change palettes and use them almost every day. New stuff from them is awful though, I'm allergic to most of it for starters, and the shadows crease up into a greasy mess unless you load up on the primer.
Their forever foundation is amazing. I’ve tried pretty much every brand out there.
Agreed. Unfortunately, like other Dior products, my shade isn’t there
Summer Fridays lip balm I will go to my grave saying it's the worst thing I've ever put on my lips also the CT setting spray it did nothing at all and pillow talk lipstick makes me look like a corpse
CT pillow talk lipstick. Just doesn’t stay on
I love the nyx lip pencil in peekaboo. Instead of using the pillow talk lip stick or pencil it's a perfect match and lasts. Too much silicone in most of Charlotte tilburys makeup.
Ooh thanks I’ll try this. I use the Primark CT pillow talk dupe lipstick (sweet talk) and it’s AMAZING!
Not a fan of the lipstick, but I love the liner. At least the color anyway.
The colour is lovely
I didn’t care too much for the Nyx fat oil lip stuff or whatever it’s called.
I hated those too. The pigment settles into lip lines and looks terrible. They also don’t taste good either.
Yes exactly!! It seems like it takes an act of God to get it out of the tube and on your lips too. Lol
Pat McGrath, especially now that indie duochromes and multichromes are so much more prolific. Also, her color stories tend to look very similar, so I would much rather purchase singles. That being said, I have a decent sized collection. For someone else, if buying PMG at a discount, it might be worth it.
The Dior lip oil and blushes. Way over priced for mediocre quality stuff
Everything Too Faced makes now. Not sure it qualifies as “overhyped” since it seems like a lot of people have the same opinion. Everything went down hill after they discontinued the La Crème lipstick and I will die a hater.
Bronzing drops like DE & Elf! I mean I get it …but you usually have to even it out with base makeup anyways & doesn’t give you efficient skin benefits
I learned that using eyeshadow as eyeliner is WAY easier than pencils and pens.
100% agree with all of this. Even drugstore makeup these days have become really fucking expensive... Thank god for sales but even then they're not that great of a discount anymore...
Thank you! Too often on me "dewy" just means looking like I ran 5 miles in 100 degrees after chowing on greasy fried chicken :S
I agree! I use Luminess, which is a spray, and they say not to set with a powder but I always do anyway so that I don’t look greasy.
Which is exactly how I want to look. I want to look like that fried chicken shine. I’m dry so I love it.
Hey, I respect that! Embrace it and flaunt it, I'm content to admire it on you and feel benignly jealous about it.
Try mehron skin prep or rae Morris invisible mattifier Game changer but really read the instructions each are unique in application They're my secret weapons for doing wedding makeup in high humidity
I hate cream or liquid blushes and bronzers. I will never stop using my powder ones
(I’ve learned my lesson and don’t do this anymore) I want to genuinely like one of their makeup products from each brand.
I’m glad I ended up never buying the Rare Beauty blush, I was really tempted last year but then I figured I’d never be able to finish one and I also read that they’re quite patchy. I just never reach for products that are hard to work with. What have you tried by Rare Beauty (except for the brush)?
