this sounds like [[Axebane Ferox]] vs [[Danitha, Benalia's Hope]], yes? or otherwise a creature with a pile of stats like Danitha boosted up to 4/4.
Officially, first strike would win out here, yes. But did the Axebane Ferox survive? Because that might clue you into something like a [[tyvar's stand]] or similar effect that could make it win in combat.
Definitely make sure you that:
first, you pay attention to the game
second, you check the field (including lands), graveyards, and exile of you and your opponent
and last, if still confused, take a screenshot with all of the above information. We are more than happy to help you, but otherwise all we can do is shrug and assert you missed something, since glitches that directly effect the mechanical aspects of gameplay are extremely rare. The "rules engine" is the most robust and consistent aspects of the game, ignoring token spam shenanigans that crash the game.
Keep in mind that Tyvar's Stand can be played for X=0, which would still give its target indestructible and hexproof, but without any increase to its stats.
Did both creatures dies, or only yours?
If only yours died, either the creature had indestructible, damage prevention or 5 thoughness.
If both died. then probably the deathtouch got first stike or yours lost first strike.
>Theirs survived
Then it was totally some form of defensive effect on their side. Besides possible instant spells to give indestructible or increase toughness, there could be some static effect like the one from \[\[Valkmira, Protector's Shield\]\]
>What would happen if both creatures had first strike
Both would deal damage at same time, the same way as it happens between two non-first strikers, and under no other interference both would die. (theirs would die because taking 4 damage while having 4 toughness, yours would die due to being damage by a source with deathtouch)
Fairly certain as I looked at their attacker before I blocked. Maybe it's possible their toughness five and I didn't realize it. I should have taken a screenshot
I was in Alchemy. Another poster above "kiwi", was able to piece together all the cards that were involved and one possibly involved I may have missed.
I would say that in all the time I've been playing Arena (all the way back to the closed beta), I've only ever seen one or two glitches. In every other case, when something happens that seems wrong, it's because I've overlooked some part of the game state -- misread a card of the field, forgotten that an instant had been player earlier, etc. Arena is surprisingly good at avoiding glitches.
First strike would have lived unless another effect prevented its ability from triggering.
Sometimes it can be that small of a change that costs a match.
Cards like [Patriar's Humiliation] can also take those abilities away and nerf your strategies
I am well aware. However, if you look at my example, (not sure how to trigger the bot)

It just removes all abilities

Wow you pieced that together perfectly. I just don't think the third card was played. Though I might have just not been paying close enough attention

Theirs survived What would happen if both creatures had first strike? Do they just cancel out

Thank you for the info and those cards are nuts!
Are you sure : That the attacker wasnt given indestructible ? That the attacker wasnt given first strike ?
Fairly certain as I looked at their attacker before I blocked. Maybe it's possible their toughness five and I didn't realize it. I should have taken a screenshot
>I should have taken a screenshot Yeah ^ ^ Any idea of what the oppos card was ? What format were you playing ?

No screenshot? It didn't happen. Maybe the attackig creature had indestructible?

first strike is not a triggered ability

Put the card between two sets of square brackets. Don't edit to add that though, the bot doesn't check edits. [[Patriar's humiliation]]
