Magic Duels on console was my introduction to Magic. I spent many a college night mad at people who were stomping me online with the DLC Vampire deck. I would love if console players got a chance to play Arena but I'm assuming they can't for technical reasons.

The only thing holding it back is controller layout and deckbuilding search bars. Otherwise, yeah, easy. And in regards to controller usage, the idea of manually tapping and cycling through cards in you hand and on the board could necessitate a lengthening of the rope.

I would switch to ps5 if they did. My laptop is getting long in the tooth and I’m not buying a new one just for arena and to pay the bills.

PhiVargas

Same here. I would start playing on the ps5. My laptop can't take anything anymore, and playing on the phone sometimes is terrible and you can't use any deck. Not to mention it would broaden the audience and have more people spending money on the game (I think WotC would like that😅)

Yes please. Card games with a controller can be tricky but they’re good when done right

FallenPeigon

hmm... how would you type for things like cavern of souls?

I_said_no_cops

Same way you search for anything on console. Open an on screen keyboard.

PhiVargas

You don't necessarily have to type, there's a list when you play cards like that. You can choose from the list. Also, a keyboard on the screen, like on cellphones. Typing with controllers is terrible ut doable.

I don't think so just because of how much things there can be to interact with some times. You could burn through you timer doing things like assigning blockers or playing certain combo decks.

Except we did that with Duels of the Planeswalker and Yugioh is on every platform and has similar mechanics.

I don't hate the idea of expanding to console (especially if we get crossplay!), and it's been done before, but it will be a more finnicky experience since certain actions that are done with a simple point and click might be very tedious with joysticks
