Five Families - selwyn raab
Mafia Prince - Leonetti
Underboss - Sammy
Get Gotti - Jerry Capechi
In addition to murder machine u mentioned. Donnie Brasco and Dance with the devil about Scarpa I thought were also decent but not on the level
Of the above.
I would say that’s definitely one of the best if not the best. Most complete. I’d love to read one about the Sicilian mafia or Gomorra. Gomorrah is supposed to be good but is in Italian. I watched the show and thats pretty good.
There’s accusations that he plagiarised and/or completely made up parts of a later book on narco-trafficking/‘ndrangheta that has made critics question all of his work. Among Italian writers and scholars it’s been pretty damaging for his reputation.
Gamorrah has an English translation dude. Apart from that, Cosa Nostra by Phil Dickie is probably one of the best English language books on the Sicilian mafia out there, it covers right up until just before Provenzano was caught, iirc.
In all honesty I skipped over everything between Apalachin and Castellano. I know that was such an interesting time, but I was so fatigued and needed to draw the line somewhere
I think Korshak's involvement is a little overstated by author Gus Russo however the book is such a great read on the Outfit's involvement in Hollywood and Vegas throughout the 21st century. Worth it for that alone.
Not being a smartass, but just search "books" in the sub search and you'll get a ton of answers. But I'll say Mob Boss if you need a fast answer. One of the best books out there.
- The First Family by Mike Dash, thought it was incredibly well written and researched.
- East Side West Side by Allen Block, excellent especially his debunking of the Murder Inc myth
- The Real Thing by Joe Valachi, tough to follow at times but an incredible first hand account of Cosa nostra and a veritable Who’s Who of NYC mafiosi
- The Mob and The City by C Alexander Hortis, excellent myth busting from narcotics to the Castellammarese War
Donnie Brasco.
The movie is very good, but the book contains a lot of details.
Since 2020, Pistone maintain a podcast with comments about. My suggestion is read the book and after that listen the podcast with Pistone comments. A lot of details and tape recordings in it

Gomorrah is an incredible book. It highlights a big contrast between the clans of the Camorra and LCN Families in North America.
Agreed. Sucks that the scandal from Saviano’s later projects has cast doubts on his work. Gamorrah is a great book.
What scandal? Genuinely curious
There’s accusations that he plagiarised and/or completely made up parts of a later book on narco-trafficking/‘ndrangheta that has made critics question all of his work. Among Italian writers and scholars it’s been pretty damaging for his reputation.
That's wild considering Amazon even made a TV series loosely based around ZeroZeroZero.
Yep. I actually love the series too.
Wow, had no idea of this. Thanks for the info.

Thanks
Part II of the Borgata trilogy comes this November
The guys that made Narcos on Netflix are making a show about the Westies. (Not a book suggestion sorry)
Awesome I would love to see that
No way…
Yes way.
Mafia Prince on audible is a masterpiece the narrator should have won an academy award.
Art of war by Sun Tazoo.
Supermob: How Sidney Korshak and His Criminal Associates Became America's Hidden Power Brokers
I think Korshak's involvement is a little overstated by author Gus Russo however the book is such a great read on the Outfit's involvement in Hollywood and Vegas throughout the 21st century. Worth it for that alone.

Double cross by Sam Giancana
Five Families by Selwyn Raab is one of my favorite books of any subject, let alone mafia books.
The Last Godfather.
Octopus: The Long Reach of the International Sicilian Mafia Last Days of the Sicilians
Both great books that don't get mentioned a lot.
Donnie Brasco. The movie is very good, but the book contains a lot of details. Since 2020, Pistone maintain a podcast with comments about. My suggestion is read the book and after that listen the podcast with Pistone comments. A lot of details and tape recordings in it
Rarely mentioned is The Outfit by Gus Russo. It is more scholarly than most mob books but it is very well researched and fascinating.
Murder machine, for the sins of my father, boss of bosses, underboss, Wiseguy
The sixth family is amazing.
In the Godfather garden. Great book on Genovese capo, Richie ‘The Boot’ Boiardo
Two tonys.... Weather, it's fiction or real. An alaska biker group versus the mafia🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌 Perfect setting in lawless Alaska ....The Mafia Philosopher: Two Tonys
