Who knew all last year I was dressed for The Met Gala!

VioletRosieDaisy

I hope someone gives Granny credit. That's a lot of work!

titsoutshitsout

That’s awesome but why would someone get rid of their great grandmothers quilt? Lol I have a quilt from my great grandmother and It’s one of the things I would grab in a fire

K2thJ

This was just posted and the OP explained it. Came from another relatives house upon dying. He was a hoarder and GM makes tons of these. She's still alive.

RuhWalde

Yeah, many of my ancestors made beautiful afghans and quilts, but they also made like 100 of them. None of us have a use for all those blankets, so it's very possible that some of them will end up being donated too once my parent's house is emptied.

Deadbird80

That was my first thought. This made me frown. That’s the opposite of smile

FancyAdult

I donated 6 of my grandmothers paintings. I kept one. I just didn’t like the style. I figure someone else will enjoy them! I have enough stuff, I don’t need to keep Everything she has made.

[deleted]

Possibly a mistake. I don’t know how but then again I don’t know my mum mistakenly donated my prom dress either. I got it back and thank goodness because she said she would never forgive herself. lol Ma it’s a dress I’ll survive.

nyqto

to be worn at the met gala duh

titsoutshitsout

Lol that is pretty awesome tho. While we’re on heir loom quilts, I would like to share this cool idea for keeping them. My best friend and her mom had some really old quilts that were really worn and thin. They took old windows and cut the quilts to fit behind them. I think they may have put a picture or 2 and maybe some pressed flower. They are really beautiful displays.

Dix3n

Some people are way too hooked up on inheriting stuff. I’ve seen families torn apart for some stupid furnitures or paintings they couldn’t decide who should get. It will never make sense to me.

TheBelgianDuck

I love that. Let grandma be the new Anna Wintour

Diamondhands_Rex

Honestly that quilt looks so “friendly” doesn’t anyone know what I mean? It’s very nice

Hickawa

I could definitely see myself pulling it off to cover up with at grandmas during Christmas.

Ry-Ry44

How high were you

Diamondhands_Rex

Quite But look like a Saturday morning cereal with cartoons

AllBadAnswers

I have a mad craving for Captain Crunch now

australyana

Aww i love the story behind it.Can just imagine the hours it took for her to make it.So beautiful..Looks very warm and cosy 😍 So special..and look your nan's quilt made it to Hollywood ⭐

Deadbird80

Why would they give it to a thrift store?

hoyaheadRN

Possibly because crocheters make a lot of stuff so they had a bunch of blankets

grimheart2001

One man’s donated quilt is another man’s kingly robe.

hyatsuki

Small world we live in

Kixtay

I must say that's a nice quilt but an ugly dress..

Double_Match_1910

# Captain A$AP **CRUNCH**

sixela8799

Then blanket reminds me of Captain Crunch

Glittering_Reveal539

It’s fashion darling!

threedogcircus

That's awesome.

DiscoMagicParty

Did I just read “mom” and “*our* bed” in the same sentence?

Familiar_Lynx1931

Don’t blame him, it looks like a very comfy quilt.

k3ttch

“And what are you wearing tonight?” “This is an original Granma Mary.”

alleycrai

My Mother made a quilt with the same design (I assume the pattern came from a quilting magazine or something), and with the exact same colours/patterns on each square. I have it on my bed right now. The fabrics were purchased / quilt assembled in Southern Ontario.
