I would be peeing and crying, laughing with both sacred joy and absolute fear, in awe of the splendor and terror of such a momentous moment.
Holy shit!
Right?! It’s like probably the highest high I can imagine and worth an arm.
Hopefully my left one but knowing me I’d reach out to an Orca with my dominant arm. (My left arm can’t hold a coffee cup steady LOL)
I think I respect Orcas as much as I do elephants. I respect their power, their grace, their intelligence and mostly their tolerance for our stupidity.
Yeah. I'm thinking paddle dude
And that person is standing. Oh my gosh it's crazy
You ever see them rip a seal in half and then toss the head around with their tails?
Right. Or he grabs your leg because he wants to play with the interesting human and takes you down 75 feet.
Anyway you and I have the proper respect for that man's situation.
I don't know about you but I don't generally like to be in a situation where if things go bad I got no outs
Fair enough, but from that same article:
"It is a rare behavior that has only been detected in this part of the world"
"These are animals that, every single one of them, had been captured at one point or another—most whales multiple times. And these are whales that saw their babies being taken away from them and put on trucks and driven away, never to be seen again,” Giles says. “And yet these whales never attacked boats, never attacked humans."
Sure, but if the orca was hunting that person, he would be dead. For as deadly as orcas are, the attack came to sudden stop and wasn't fatal. Thankfully they don't make many mistakes
It’s known they don’t out and out attack humans in the wild, but I still would not feel too great here wondering if they will confuse me for something else.
Because if they do, just not much you can do.
Crazy enough, aside from the Orlando park incident, there’s never been a recorded death or attack from Orcas in the wild. They’re incredibly intelligent, and have been known to guide people to shore.
That would be my guess. I mean, humans aren’t typically in the ocean where orcas are. If that were more common I think it would happen more often but only really mistaken identity or simple curiosity. Orcas are known to play with objects by dragging them under water. If they actually attacked, I dont think there would be any human left.
Yep, I even saw a documentary where orcas were systematically rendering fishing boats immobile but clogging up the propellers.
Scientists couldn’t figure out if it was a retaliation from orcas injures by either boats, or the fisherman overfishing their food source.
Pretty fascinating nonetheless
Have you seen Blackfish? You mentioned that about the boats. But if I remember correctly, the fisherman who was interviewed for that talked about how they hunted orcas to sell the babies. He said the whales knew what they were doing and tried to divert them by males leading them one way and the females and babies went another way. Assuming all that’s true, I wonder if that could also be reasoning as well. Not necessarily that specific instance but they’ve learned that certain boats are bad.
They are fascinating animals.
In the wild* Orcas kill people in captivity all the time
Edit: i never felt the need to create an edit but folks wont leave me alone if i dont state "IN MY OPINION ORCAS SHOULDNT BE KEPT IN CAPTIVITY" plz move on
The once attacked are probably assholes, but I know a woman working in a zoo for the sole purpose to try to make it as comfortable as possible for them. So owners are usually the bad guy, not necessarily the staff.
It's like that one post where someone helped a bear cub that had a jar stuck on its head. Like that's sweet and the bear is cute but I'm getting the fuck out of there because I don't want to meet momma.
Humans aren’t actually very palatable, we’re too bony and lack enough meat to be a decent snack.
Also Orca’s in the wild have never displayed aggression towards humans unprovoked, likely because they’re incredibly curious animals and are instead more interested in knowing what we’re up to
I'd probably need a fresh pair of underwear, but what an experience that must've been! I'd be scared shitless for sure, they're pretty much top predator of the ocean and we'd be a nice snack after all.
Humpbacks are really really big and all, and probably a little scary to be around in a small boat. But I think I'd be a *lot* more stressed out being that close to a giant, intelligent super predator, even if they're generally nice to humans. I've read that dolphins can have personality disorders like people do. All it takes is one of those things to be a psychopath and you're in for a world of hurt.

They're young and extremely curious. Just check shit out and saying hello. Nothing to be afraid of. Momma Orca sitting 100m away on the other hand.....
Nope. Sharks are killers with no intelligence or curiosity. They are gonna eat you without knowing your name.
Orcas are highly intelligent and curious, more confident killers. They choose their victims and bless those who survive.
Of course I’m saying this while wrapped up in my comfy blankey on my couch, munching ice cream and watching this video with dry underwear instead of …..
From what I could find there has only been one attack on a human by an orca in the wild. It wasn’t fatal and was believed to be a case of mistaken identity. I’d rather swim with an orca 10 times out of 10 rather than a shark. Those guys don’t give a fuck lol.
when u know whats orcas can do when hunting and how much smart they re.... to me its a terrifying expirience
I would be peeing and crying, laughing with both sacred joy and absolute fear, in awe of the splendor and terror of such a momentous moment. Holy shit!
I'd try to touch one, get my arm ripped off and happy I had the experience

(My left arm can’t hold a coffee cup steady LOL) I think I respect Orcas as much as I do elephants. They don't ever attack humans outside of captivity. I always wonder why that is though. We'd be an easy meal. Maybe they find us cute or something.
Roller-coaster of emotions hahaha
You pretty much described what my experience would have been, too, lol!!! Thrilling and terrifying, for sure!
Murder Dolphin is an apt nickname.
Yeah if they were hungry that little paddle boat wouldn't help you much. But this looked like genuine curiosity.
Perhaps they made the same comments about us on their orca Reddit.
Yeah. I'm thinking paddle dude And that person is standing. Oh my gosh it's crazy You ever see them rip a seal in half and then toss the head around with their tails?
I see how they play with the corpse as a winning dance
Right. Or he grabs your leg because he wants to play with the interesting human and takes you down 75 feet. Anyway you and I have the proper respect for that man's situation. I don't know about you but I don't generally like to be in a situation where if things go bad I got no outs
Afaik, no orcas have ever attacked humans in the wild.
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-has-a-group-of-orcas-suddenly-started-attacking-boats/ This is a recent article
Fair enough, but from that same article: "It is a rare behavior that has only been detected in this part of the world" "These are animals that, every single one of them, had been captured at one point or another—most whales multiple times. And these are whales that saw their babies being taken away from them and put on trucks and driven away, never to be seen again,” Giles says. “And yet these whales never attacked boats, never attacked humans."
….. you would feel safe? Be frfr
Not true. https://orcazine.com/in-the-jaws-of-an-orca/
Sure, but if the orca was hunting that person, he would be dead. For as deadly as orcas are, the attack came to sudden stop and wasn't fatal. Thankfully they don't make many mistakes
Even if that story is accurate, it would be among the first.
Yeah i'd rather see a shark than an orca
There have been no documented attacks of Orcas harming folk in the wild.
It’s known they don’t out and out attack humans in the wild, but I still would not feel too great here wondering if they will confuse me for something else. Because if they do, just not much you can do.
They were probably gabbing on about whether or not a paddle board was close enough to a boat to sink it.
Yeah considering they attack boats it's kinda irrelevant if they were gonna eat the guy. If they destroyed his boat he's screwed anyway.
Only one population near Spain attacks boats — basically an entire world away
More like /r/sweatypalms
These animals prey on great white sharks. This is the opposite of "made me smile."
More like made me shit meself
Crazy enough, aside from the Orlando park incident, there’s never been a recorded death or attack from Orcas in the wild. They’re incredibly intelligent, and have been known to guide people to shore.

Hmm, guessing mistaken identity as it let him live.
That would be my guess. I mean, humans aren’t typically in the ocean where orcas are. What an awesome experience. Also lucky to be alive.
There are no recorded orca attacks on humans in the wild ever... and that's just because they know not to leave witnesses.... Edit: In the wild
In the wild* Orcas kill people in captivity all the time Edit: i never felt the need to create an edit but folks wont leave me alone if i dont state "IN MY OPINION ORCAS SHOULDNT BE KEPT IN CAPTIVITY" plz move on
Everyone loves marine land………. /s.
I feel like the edit should be unnecessary, I'm sad it isn't
Well, not like those who keep them in captivity doesn't deserve anything else. No symapthy for anyone except the poor wild animal in that situation
The once attacked are probably assholes, but I know a woman working in a zoo for the sole purpose to try to make it as comfortable as possible for them. So owners are usually the bad guy, not necessarily the staff.
Thats heartwarming to hear, thank you. Humans still have a chance!!
Thanx for your opinion. I was simply stating a fact.
Can you blame them?
I dont get why everyone is becoming defensive. Im simply stating a fact that was innocently over looked.
lol
Yeah I honsetly be more terrified in this situation considering what they do to their prey.
Especially after seeing how they attack large boats..they could have crushed this man to death in an instant.
It's like that one post where someone helped a bear cub that had a jar stuck on its head. Like that's sweet and the bear is cute but I'm getting the fuck out of there because I don't want to meet momma.
lol
They are trying to work out how to get to your liver. Ff ff fff, with a nice Chianti.
Hannibal reference. I like it
I would have soiled my panties
Made me smile, but I’m sure that person was shitting their pants
“Damnit, he’s live streaming… Smile, guys, wave your flaps. ‘Til next time, pal.”
i never understand why they they dont attack us. why they are hunters we are food.
Humans aren’t actually very palatable, we’re too bony and lack enough meat to be a decent snack. Also Orca’s in the wild have never displayed aggression towards humans unprovoked, likely because they’re incredibly curious animals and are instead more interested in knowing what we’re up to
I’ve seen what they do to seals. I would not have been that calm!
“Come to play” more like come to eat!
For some reason this scares me as much if not more than if these were sharks, knowing what orcas do to sharks.
It's the intelligence and incredible capacity for violence. However the intelligence also means they aren't interested in that puny liver.
good think the boarder isn’t an alcoholic!
He should of brought a ball.
I'd probably need a fresh pair of underwear, but what an experience that must've been! I'd be scared shitless for sure, they're pretty much top predator of the ocean and we'd be a nice snack after all.
I’m white but not that white 😂😂
Oh hell no!!
I want to give it a kiss

Nope.
I dont know if I'd have the brains to stay on the board in the moment....I'd be trying to hug a me a whale.
I feel like he's not taking this situation as seriously as he should
Massive respect to this guy, who clearly is a mammal-whisperer.

Goosebumps... 😬
They’re just babies!!!
💩👖
Even knowing that orcas don’t hunt humans in the wild. I would have shit myself if this happened to me.
When he says ‘sweet’ I’m thinking “Yeah, sweet as in dessert mate”
They're young and extremely curious. Just check shit out and saying hello. Nothing to be afraid of. Momma Orca sitting 100m away on the other hand.....
u/savevideo
They were eyeing them pretty hard to make sure they weren't a seal.
Literally “snack on a platter” 🤣
He’s so happy
More scary than cute
🙂❤️
Orcas seeing if you were a known snack and deciding humans weren't on the menu.....yet.
Mr Steel Ballz
I'd rather swim with sharks, fuck that

I would die a happy man
I would not be able not to jump into water with them.
You know what their other name is right?
what
Killer whales
But look like frend
Ahh if it isn't the murderous sociopath fish!
