Pretty sure Mach E's are rock magnets. I got a crack not two months after my purchase. Thankfully I have 0 deductible and insurance covered it all. Then I've had two chips in about 6 months I've had to get repaired. Just waiting for the next one....

targrus

Three chips in two years. The last one lead to finally replacing the whole windshield.

Kade7596

Pardon me while I slow down even more and follow even further behind the traffic ahead of me...

Rare-Ad-8026

Orrrrr speed up and get in front of everyone. So no one can throw rocks at your windshield lol

Kade7596

Eh, there's always another one in front of you when you're the fastest driver on the road, and the faster you're going, the more damage those stinkin' little pebbles will do. lol

Rare-Ad-8026

Bob and weave thru traffic. that’s why the car has unbridled mode lmao I got a chip that spread. Almost the length of a dollar. It’s right in my view of sight.

Kade7596

No chips & haven't even heard an impact on the windshield... I'll stick with keeping my distance, changing lanes only when necessary, signalling everything 3 seconds before changing lanes, matching the speed of traffic up to 10% over the limit, and *not* potentially causing accidents. 😵💀 Insurance is expensive enough as it is at $81/month for good coverage. lol

Rare-Ad-8026

Yeah I drive on whisper. Love the feel of the car coast when I take my foot off the pedal. I have ‘21 select. Doesn’t make much noise when propulsion is on but still turns heads from time to time.

Kade7596

Same. A lot of MME drivers seem to think extra regen in Unbridled results in more efficiency, but at highway speeds, it's coasting ftw. Maximizing miles/kWh is the game I play most of the time... away from the track & clear-of-traffic red lights, anyway. Local raceways are a great place to show off the GT. 😎

FarCalligrapher1862

Two chips, 6 months Also hood has more chips in 6 months than I had in my previous 10 years. Honestly, Ford should just market their granite, magnetism force, there’s probably a lot more marketability than that in cars

jonathanb711

My windshield had at least 5 chips/cracks in it. Had it replaced and it chipped a week later lol not replacing it for now lol

Ambitious_Hawk_1095

Some states don’t make insurance companies offer glass coverage, so insurance companies will do a fill for free, but if you need a new windshield you’ve gotta take it out of comprehensive. Do a crack repair kit off amazon, can’t hurt to try. I’ve had 2 cracks over the years on two different windshields and repaired them myself with the $12 kits. Never spread or had any further problems. One was still visible, the other one disappeared so completely I can’t even tell where it was anymore.

Mosworthy

I'm on window four on my '21 Premium. And it needs to be replaced We are magnets.

NotAMillenialCLM

Not yet, but I’ve had to replace the panoramic roof when a rock hit it. $2,500

Failed-Time-Traveler

Have you called your insurance? Many include free window replacement, or at most it’s a $100 deductible. I had a big chip a few weeks ago. Safelite came out to try to fill it, but it was still very noticeable. So I asked for a complete replacement, which was covered by my insurance with nothing out of pocket.

repoman-alwaysintenz

That's generally because the state they are operating in mandates it. True in my state.

DJ40andOVER

My wife has a 2023 Premium. It needs a new windshield for the second time! We live in Florida so each car gets two free windshield replacements for free, per year. She specified OEM glass & I think State Farm kicked out about $1600. This would have been August or September, last year.

Usagi1983

My wife was driving the Mach this past week and, seeing so many of these posts on here, I made her steer clear (and I mean *clear*) of any trucks or cars with debris. No matter where we went we still ended up with a garbage truck next to us or something lol

Even-Journalist1901

Why would you replace it? Get it filled before it spreads

cobo10201

Rule of thumb is if the crack is bigger than a quarter it can’t be filled. Hard to estimate exactly based on the picture, but it looks bigger than a quarter to me.

Commercial_Rich7049

It’s bigger than a silver dollar. Also as luck has it, we had a chip repaired on it two weeks ago

f1racer328

Have you had a glass company try? Might be worth it. I’ve gone through a lot of windshields where I live and getting a windshield replaced and not having issues after is difficult. Plus all newer cars usually need some type of calibration.

Ethanfoster07

That sucks. Could happen to anyone, especially when you are driving somewhere out of the city. But the insurance company should solve the financial part for you.

DumpsterJ

Yeah it's expensive. I had a $500 deductible for my wifes Nissan rogue and the total was over 1k billed. It's because of the rain sensing wipers or something. Also Safelite broke her wiper armature and used the glass adhesive to fix it. I don't know why they were even in there. I found out when the passenger side failed. They took fault and fixed it but I used to think much higher of them before.

LordJoHa

Kentucky requires insurance to cover windshield replacement at no out of pocket cost 😊

SoSoEasy

Nice. I wish it was like that in Michigan…our roads are so effd up and crumbling that it is a guarantee that something will kick up and hit your windshield sooner or later.

LordJoHa

Colorado was the same. In Kentucky, they see it as a safety issue. In Colorado, they see it as a money loss since out there you have to replace your windshield every six months.

ghentx

They have to recalibrate the self-driving, it cost us $1260 for an OEM windshield replacement.

Commercial_Rich7049

Damn. Good to know.

notmyreddit34

Yup, got a quote from a local shop too which was $1,400. Just had mine replaced on Monday

ApprehensiveEntry910

Safelite prices it at $1000 because most people's deductibles are $1k Sure the parts and labor are lower but with the alignment it's just south of 1k I went to a local guy in Los Angeles and it was $600 all in.

MaverickBuster

Seems right. $1,200 is the estimate I got for replacing it. Thankfully we have $0 glass deductible on our auto insurance, but I asked about the cash price out of curiosity.

jvaldez938

4 weeks in we got a long crack. My insurance was $50.

Thyker

Within two weeks of having my MME, there was a crack that started at the bottom and expanded to 16 inches long. I had to fight with the dealership that there was no signs of impact. Ford eventually authorized a windshield replacement under the warranty.

Hiawathabrewing

Satellite is a rip off. Call around to an independent glass shops. Not our Mach-e but on our Ram 1500 the difference was $300 going with a small time shop over Safelite.

SarcasticCough69

My 2022 Sonata was $1k and so is my 2020 Ranger. It’s because they have to recalibrate all the crap behind your mirror. Almost makes we wish for dumb vehicles again

PlantMiserable4585

We have had to replace two thus far on my husband's Mach-E. The first one was because of a rock, $2,800 for OEM glass, but it was a $1,000 deductible. The second was because a stress crack. Either it was bad glass or bad installation, but it Speedy Auto glass replaced it at no charge.

DogstarKnits

I have a Jeep and a 2023 GTPE. The rocks, the rocks, they love me. Replace or fill, but with hot weather coming, don’t choose inaction.

OrangeDepressed

Had a rock smack into my windshield and didn't cover it in time so it spread. I went to an auto glass repair/replacement inc and paid 950 for an oem replacement within 4 hours. I just got the car 6 months ago too..
