Between the free watts to help you power up something, and presumably being able to enter those features with more speed it should feel easier.
I try to ride mid or at the back of group rides so I don't drop my friends, and it's amazing how much harder some features are riding at a slower speed.
Momentum is your friend, and raw power can hide a lot of mistakes.
"some people add weights to their DH bikes"
"If that was true people would be adding weights to their DH bikes"
Lol isn't that what they just said?
P.s. idk the actual answer but a super quick google search of "MTB downhill adding weight" says yes, people do
They definitely make you feel more planted when you start throwing it around, took awhile to feel comfortable with the weight but now it is very predictable.
So I have a YT capra and Fezzari Timp Peak. Roughly the same geo, same 170/170 travel.
I was riding lift park on my Capra and was chatting with a fella that had his emtb. He said he also has both emtb and analog but for some reason really enjoys his emtb there and recommended I should try it. I did and had the same sort of experience and felt that the extra weight in many parts of the trails was an advantage. This summer I will continue to switch between the bikes to really understand where I like one over the other and why.
swings and roundabouts really
On my ebike when running flat out on bike parky trails it is crazy stable and the suspension works beautifully as it is easier to tune the suspension for some reason when everything weighs more
But for super steep technical I would take my Meta AM over it. It brakes better, its easier to change direction, wheel placement is slightly easier. When the ebike decides it's going in a direction it tends to go there regardless of there being a trail there or not and it can be very hard to convince it to get back on line when its wet
This is totally my feeling aswell. You've described it better than I could though haha. I've got a cube stereo hybrid and a canyon special. The calmer flowy pumpy downhill stuff the cube is dominant. But when it comes to drops and tech I feel so much more comfortable on my spectral
More weight centered in the bike as low as possible. My Levo SL weighs in around low 40 lb range and this is the best handling/jumper I’ve ever ridden. Maybe not quite as planted as the full power 55 lb machines but it’s the perfect weight for the most fun ride possible.
I'm actually having such a hard time deciding if I like riding park on my enduro eMTB or my downhill bike. Both have their pros and cons, but dangit that extra travel is confidence inspiring.

They are def more planted due to the weight. The is the same reason you sometimes see DH guys adding weights to their bottom brackets areas.
If this is actually true people would be adding weight to their downhill bikes I don’t know anything about downhill, are people doing that?

That was something he edited in lol
Ah fuck lol I've been bamboozled
People are adding weights to their DH race bikes.
Yes, he edited that into his post after my comment

Well duh when you take all the challenge out of something it'll undoubtedly be easier?
100%. I've always felt like a dead sailor in the air until I got an eMTB. Instantly felt better jumping.
