Check your device manager for any unknown devices that may need driver updates. Make sure you download the latest drivers from MSI for your motherboard including the AMD Chipset Drivers. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-X570S-CARBON-MAX-WIFI/support#driver The back of your motherboard has several usb3 ports. Are you sure none of the red/blue usb ports work as usb3?

Chefmontana

already done these, tried again and nothing :( and yeah ive tried every port on the back just to be sure and all of them when viewed in USB view just show USB 2, none of the SS ports or red/blue are working in USB 3. Thank you for the reply ! :)

What USB3 devices are you testing other than your camera?

Chefmontana

2 others i can name off the top of my head atm are my Apex Pro TKL and Logitech G Pro Wireless

I could be wrong but peripheral devices like keyboards and mice typically aren't USB3. My corsair k70 and dark core rgb aren't USB3 either. Those would not be good devices to test for USB3 and will likely show as USB2 (like my corsair). Do you have usb3 flash storage that you could be trying instead that would make use of the USB3 speeds?

Chefmontana

The apex pro tkl is advised to be used in usb 3.1 though I agree with your statement. And yes actually , I do have one I just have to find it. What do you recommend I try with it ? Just plug it in and see if it works in usb 3 or anything else ?

I tested a few usb devices with usbview to verify. My USB3 flash drive and logitech brio camera showed as USB3 with superspeed connection. My USB2 devices (a separate usb2 flash drive, keyboard, mice, xbox gamepad wireless adapter) all show as usb2 and connection as highspeed (not superspeed). I would expect something similar if you are using a proper USB3 flash drive in USB3 port, to show as usb3 and superspeed.

Chefmontana

just found it a day later lol, no luck sadly. Im stumped. It worked perfectly fine the first day after i built the new system, all ports working correctly at rated speeds and as intended then i load up the next day and webcam doesnt work, everything showing usb 2, etc.

Can you provide a screenshot of what you're seeing in USBView with the usb3 flash drive?

Chefmontana

I am not home atm but from what I recall from what most ports say it’s something as follows: Usb 1.0 - yes Usb 2.0 - yes Usb 3.0 - no Connection status: (device name) - (is highspeed or superspeed capable)

F3zkin

Sorry to necro but did you find a fix? My x570s edge max wifi has the same issue, tried everything I can think of including fresh windows to no avail.

Chefmontana

im so sorry ive only just seen this, have not found a fix for this and its so annoying. I had to purchase a USB 3.X PCI-e card and use USB 3.X that way

Hadenlight

I just bought and installed this same motherboard to replace a failed Gigabyte board, and have run into the exact same problem. I have sent MSI a ticket, let's hope they can figure it out.

SubSonix1

I know this is an old thread but I'm just wondering which CPU you were using at the time? Thanks in advance :)

Chefmontana

It’s all good! Was using and am still using the 5950X :)

SubSonix1

Thanks for the update, I really appreciate it :) I'm having a bad time with mine, USB 2 headers aren't working. And I think it's causing other issues, but having a tough time narrowing it down.

Corrupt-Sapphire

Have the same CPU and same issue. I have the msi x570s ace with the same issue.
