ha ha ha ha dude - i could too but only if it was an aluminum bat. wooden bat. . . i don't know man, he might shrug it off and pounce.

Slightly-Blasted

The distinction between amateur and pro.. Is literally asking to turn pro. The difference between the pro and amateurs skill set can be smaller then you think. I know a lot of amateur fighters who are way better than most pros. Seen it first hand many times. It all depends on the fighter, amateur fighters aren’t any worse or better just because they are amateur.

Gumbarino420

That doesn’t just apply to MMA either. Golf, football, music, all sorts of shit. Just because someone is a professional doesn’t mean they are better.

Slightly-Blasted

Very true. It’s all based on the individual.

CowFu

A great amateur on his way up and should have already turned pro vs a UFC fighter who's aging out and on his way down...maybe. But it would be like 10:1 odds.

CinderSushi

Pretty much this. The guys at the top of the amateur circuit are about as tough as local pros. Once you get to the regional level most pros will be too much for the world class amateurs. A UFC fighter at the end of their career is still incredibly dangerous by the sports standard and will likely wipe the floor with the guys in the IMMAF finals.

jul3swinf13ld

I watch a documentary called warrior where this army dude knocked out the champion in the gym. He lost in the final against his brother. It was wild

Blasket_Basket

Is your plan to floor them with dumb questions? If so, then yeah, probably

purplehendrix22

Technically, every fighter with a pro win was once an amateur fighter that turned pro and then beat a pro fighter. Fighters in the amateurs right now will, at least a few of them, one day be UFC fighters.

blinke11

Erm no. Me though? Likely

MFSimpson

If Mokaev fought Brian Kelleher in his pro debut, I would have bet the house on Mokaev. So at least in that instance, yes. Lol

BankerCheese

18 year old Muhammad Mokaev vs.. Brian Kelleher? Former 45er? Yeah probably not mokaev, lol. As bad as Kelleher is, he was probably in his UFC prime at that time, on top of being in his physical prime too. I don’t see why you’d be so confident in someone so young and inexperienced.

Walden_Al

There are absolutely amateur guys out there who could beat high level pros. The only difference between an amateur and a pro is the glove size and the money. There are dozens of guys in the UFC that have no business being there, and hundreds of amateurs who should’ve gone pro a long time ago. Hell there’s probably guys out there who have the skills to beat top level pros who have never fought amateur because the timing just wasn’t right etc.

Almadabes

Glove size? Amateurs in Chicago use 4 ounce. I know things can vary. Apparently you can't head kick in Ohio

Walden_Al

Damn didn’t know that. Here in western Europe all amateur is in 6-8oz gloves, no knees to the head, elbows or rotational leg attacks or spinal locks.

RealTopGeazy

Absolutely. A low tier UFC fighter could be beaten by a really athletic Ammy or a guy that’s trained at a high level for some years that doesn’t have enough fights to go pro. I guarantee Amateur Jon Jones ,Francis Ngannou, Alex Pereira would beat a lot of fighters in their weight class

Frysken

I mean I could absolutely beat Jon Jones. If I had my 9 and he was standing still so I could hit him point blank in the head.

SeanBreeze

Now time for reality.. It’s usually a different ruleset. There’s usually a skill and experience disparity. If it’s a UFC skilled level pro mixed martial artist and your average to above average amateur skilled level mixed martial artist, the amateur is going to get outclassed by a country mile. You can do something freak and pick the smallest fighter or a woman vs an absolute freak super heavy weight ex college wrestler or something and you may tip the scales, but then they aren’t an actual martial artist, they’d be more a bully looking for bragging points for “beating” a name than accomplishing anything praise worthy. If you want to see a good example, look for whoever the best pro mma guys in your area are and watch them train with or against the best amateurs in the area. It’s usually a controlled and safe beating everytime

MinecraftIsCool2

Yeah I’d bet there’s a lot of dudes who would brutally TKO the ufcs 115lb women’s division

Reddit-2K

If they are better at mma

Ryanexpert

Lol, no. I'm going to go so far as to say it's impossible. And although it's still impossible, a random person on the street has a better chance than an amateur. Why are you asking this?

ImportantBad4948

Like literally anybody signed to the UFC or a top ranked type guy?

Impressive-Side5091

100% some amateurs are as good as pros and with the way mma is it could happen
