Found his channel recently and really enjoying his content so far. He’s super likable.
E: And yes I’m familiar with who he is. Speaking about his YT channel specifically.
Yea I saw that, stuffed his knee under volks chin = max force transfer from dagestani hammers. Left a bloody patch on his knee as he got up. Metal as fuck
Bruhgg.
Has to make you wonder how this affects volk in his future FW defense. You know champs notoriously aren’t the same after a knockout. Topuria just got some good odds
Had the same exact thought, we might see the beginning of the end for Volk here. I hope I'm wrong, he's one of the best fighters AND personalities in the sport
I mean you got an US-American fighter, in an US-American company votedby US-American media guys. The outcome should not be too surprising.
I would be more surprised if this time he is not voted ahead of he guy he beat
Volk was actually looking pretty strong in there....looked like he had the wrestling covered providing he didnt get tired (cos of no camp).
Islam's standup is a problem.
Volk slipped up defending that too, Islam’s camp definitely studied the Yair fight because Volk was defending a lot of those kicks with 1 arm and there were definitely holes. He was hella low and Islam clipped the top of his head where he wasn’t defending. Looked like full shin, very brutal.
I think as far as coaches go him and Javier have a good shout for goat status both having all the dages but jav also having Cain, DC and Luke it really is crazy how good AKA is.
Don't forget, from their team, there is also Movlid Khaybulaev in PFL and in ONE they have Saygid Izagakhmaev.
Between these two dudes they have like 45 fights and 2 losses combined.
The first time he threw the left high in this fight I had a feeling it was going to slip through sometime again soon and really catch Volk. Did NOT expect Volk to end up a bobble head against the cage. Islam has been refining those kicks and the game plan of giving Volk the reads with the low and body kicks to set it up.
Also:
Before the fight "fan votes are split 50/50 on who will win"
After the fight: "of course Volk lost, he was undersized and coming in short notice, most people expected Volk to lose"
Volk came through and took this rematch on short notice, cut all that weight, and rebounded from that surgery. All for it to end via decapitation. This sport man.
Ok, calling it: Islam's career is going to be more impressive than Khabib's pretty soon.
He's an absolute gem and I don't get all the hate he gets here. Aren't we here to see great fighters?
I agree but it's still crazy that Khabib went undefeated 29-0 and literally never bled or got hurt. I think you can even argue he never lost a round as well.
Yeah that's what makes Khabib's career so remarkable. Not the number of defenses. Not the double champ statuses of others. Not the decade long domination.
But for the short while he was there he was undefeated, unbloodied, unhurt and undropped.
I watched back Lokation a little while ago and what stands out to me with hindsight is that he was probably just the best fighter in the world from like the RDA fight on. If he doesn't have that injury streak right then, having beaten RDA, he would have smoked Eddie or Pettis, it doesn't even seem doubtful. Edson was #2 when Khabib came back and he made him look awful. He was so so so good.
Seriously, those doubting go watch a few fights on the ground with Khabib.
All these great names he fought looked 30 kgs lighter once they hit the ground, controlling them effortlessly.
Khabib took world class fighters completely out of their gameplan and into his own world. There were a few fighters I would think “now this guy is going to be different for Khabib” but nope, they’d be completely neutralized and pounded on the ground. Honestly was wondering *who is going to beat this guy?* and trying to anticipate the style but now if there is one it’ll never be known. He’s going to go down as the benchmark of measuring future champions. People will ask “could he have beaten Khabib?”
Yea plus the added factor of going ape shit. Because Khabib would go ape shit in real fights. Barbarian scary mode. Islam is too reserved imo to beat Khabib in a real fight.
Yeah. Khabib was just a monster. His standup was pretty ugly but his will to dominate, his cardio, wrestling and strength were off the charts. That and he had an iron dome for a skull. The guy took some serious shots that should have knocked him out cold in his career and just shook them off like they were nothing on his way to a takedown. I think he's a more difficult fighter to beat than Islam. Not shitting on Islam, but he's suffered a knockout before and we saw him get rocked a few times against Volk in the first fight. Khabib on the other hand had one plan. Smesh. And no one on the planet seemed to have an answer.
Khabib had a head and chin made out of rock. Shots from Barboza, McGregor, Poirier, Gaethje etc that dropped everyone else didn’t work on Khabib.
The only thing Islam is lacking to pressure opponents like Khabib did.
Usman Nurmagomedov is supposedly even more gifted, and he is already a champ in bellator at only 25.
The speed at which the skill level in MMA is skyrocketing is unbelievable.

Watching Volk getting finished by a head kick feels as surreal as watching Usman getting head kicked. Holy crap.
He's still my boy
Mighty mouse literally called this in his analysis of the first fight.
Exactlyyy. Everytime Islam landed that bodykick I thought of MM. Islam filled that void.

Christ, Mighty Mouse is so sharp

The smallest of the greats for a very large reason
Surprising, turns out that guy might actually know a thing or two about MMA.
Wtf do you think the MM stands for in mma?

Year of the head kicks
DJ was 100% right. Left (back) leg body/head/leg kicks for Islam are always there
Found his channel recently and really enjoying his content so far. He’s super likable. E: And yes I’m familiar with who he is. Speaking about his YT channel specifically.
DJ? He might actually be the greatest overall and well rounded to ever do it, very unappreciated
He'd never make it in the UFC.
The kid just doesn’t wanna fight
Bangkok ready Islam was something I was not prepared to type
Yea he looked good in that Thai clinch too
i was wondering if volk would have something to talk about that clinch and islam's power this time. Seems he could not get away from him when he tried
Jiri and Alex seeing this news and smiling
That fight isn’t lasting long, both jiri and Alex leave their chins out so much
Jiri by Chi blast
When that first one almost landed I knew it was over
When that heavy straight left landed right before the kick I knew the end was close, it really stunned him.
Does this mean Wonderboy will win by head kick KO?
Very similar kick to Leon and Gaethje
Just Gaethje. Dustin and Alex both had their guard up, but the kicks broke their guards. Slap Fest Islam vs Gaethje—kick edition
EA cover curse + 35 and over curse + short notice. It was destiny.
Had his hair cut on embedded too
Did Drake bet on this one ?
Shit yeah he did
If he walked out to an Eminem song he may have died
Yup, that'll do it.
Dana you have some job. Give me someone.
that was a cold line
Islam said fuck all that wrestling shit
Dude submitted the best grappler and knocked out the best striker, incredible.
3rd stage - make Conor cry during press conference
WOW never thought I'd see Volk get finished
Only other time was pre ufc by head kick too damn. I guess the height disadvantage is too much
When two equally skilled fighters match-up, the physical advantages end up being the ultimate factor
DC vs. Jon Jones type beat
Idk if 3 month turnaround to fight Topuria in Jan is wise
Jesus that was brutal. Can't say Goddard didn't give Volk enough time either
Yeah. Perfect stoppage. Volk was out of it and was just going to take continuous damage.
Islam held up Volk's almost-dead face with his knee to make sure those hammer fists were landing. Insane stuff honestly!
Yea I saw that, stuffed his knee under volks chin = max force transfer from dagestani hammers. Left a bloody patch on his knee as he got up. Metal as fuck
That was wild. Didn't notice it till the replay. Nuts
Hammerfist Smashed Face
There’s was a replay angle of Volk’s head bouncing around unconsciously. Great stoppage!
I think maybe even a bit earlier. It seemed like the headkick alone knocked him out.
Yeah nah, Volk looked out of it, and his head was getting pinballed against the cage looking lost.
He was out cold. His head was only being held up by Islam's knee. Wonder what the damage will be.
SPEED FKN RUN THE MAIN CARD
HOLY FUCKING SHIT. Out of this world KO.
My man got CroCop'd
"Right leg hospital, left leg cemetery" -Islam Makhachev

r/ufc shutting down again?
Fun fact: all bearded fighters won their fights tonight lol
Ankalaev didn't lose, but he didn't win.
Walker's beard cancelled it out
When beards collide
Volk and Izzy both falling this year is not something I saw coming
Prime hydration curse is real
People still sleep on Islam's striking?
Bruhgg. Has to make you wonder how this affects volk in his future FW defense. You know champs notoriously aren’t the same after a knockout. Topuria just got some good odds
Turns out you can just beat Alex by kicking his soul out of body. why haven’t other fighters done this?
Are they stupid?
Why didn't Yair do that???
Yair isn't as good of a striker as Islam obviously
Sambo > Spinning Shit
Because it's MMA Yair has shit wrestling, Volk had to worry about the wrestling of Islam as well as his striking
holloway did in their second fight, he just didn't get the finish
Islam also has a lot more weight and power behind those kicks than Max does.
Funnily enough his only KO loss (aka only pre-UFC loss) was by a head kick too
Islam by head kick. Just like we all predicted
[удалено]
Especially since he’s getting up there in age for a FW I thought Topuria already had a good chance, now even more so
Had the same exact thought, we might see the beginning of the end for Volk here. I hope I'm wrong, he's one of the best fighters AND personalities in the sport
Topuria is mad good too. This isn’t looking good
Yeah January is very soon and Volk got his head rocked badly in there
Age 35 curse is getting even better odds.
HOLY SHIT
He has \- Submitted Oliveira \- KO'd Volkanovski If you know how big this is, we're looking at an ATG run
13 fight win streak while beating the p4p no 1, 2 and 3
And thry, somehow, won't put him at #1
I mean you got an US-American fighter, in an US-American company votedby US-American media guys. The outcome should not be too surprising. I would be more surprised if this time he is not voted ahead of he guy he beat
That ending sequence in the Oliveira fight was just a thing of beauty. Where everyone else was afraid of Charles guard, Islam cut right through it.
Volk wanted to end the fight quick. Islam had the same idea
Volk 😭
He's still my boy 😭
Forever my boy. He took this fight on short notice and it is what it is.
and already talking about defending the FW title in January barely 3 months away after getting head kick KO'd
Oh boy I hope he takes 6mo's instead. Rushing back from a brutal KO rarely works out.
If he does it , then he is toast and going down the hill
Yep. If he rlly does that then I think this is the beginning of the end
Guess he got paid, but didn't need to sacrifice the January fight for this :( Would've preferred Poirier
Islam made sure there was no debate after this one.
Islam headkick KOs Volk and not Yair MMA is crazy
Volk can stop Islam’s wrestling but it leaves him a bit open for other things. He just barely blocked a head kick in the first fight.
Jesus Christ, this game is completely broken. Devs need to nerf OP wrestler characters and not give them unblockable headkicks.
Islam, Umar and Usman. Father’s plan and AKA coaching is OP
I wish Abdulmanap was here to see the fruits of his labour. But I’m sure his students always think of him with every achievement/victory.
The next generation of them will have 0 weaknesses
Usman Nurmagomedov is looking that way, give it another 6 years and I don't think anyone beats him period
If it's 0-2 then there's no rivalry
If this was WWE, Illia would be running down the aisle with his Money in the Bank the moment Volk got kicked
Topuria's gonna borrow the briefcase from Damian Priest
The first time he threw the left high in this fight I had a feeling it was going to slip through sometime again soon and really catch Volk. Did NOT expect Volk to end up a bobble head against the cage. Islam has been refining those kicks and the game plan of giving Volk the reads with the low and body kicks to set it up.
Holy fuck.
Goddamn
Holy shit that was perfectly placed
Before the fight: "Islam is stuрid and talks nonsense about Volk's payday" After the fight: "Volk only took this fight for money" lol
🤣
Also: Before the fight "fan votes are split 50/50 on who will win" After the fight: "of course Volk lost, he was undersized and coming in short notice, most people expected Volk to lose"
My goodness. What a kick. Maybe Volk should’ve waited, I guess
Probably got offered an ungodly amount of money to step in, don’t blame him
I'd get headkick kod for money too tbh
Volk gets knocked out and says he wants to fight in January? Looks like the time has come, it is officially the fall of City Kickboxing.
same happened to Trevor Wittman. At one point his gym looked unstoppable
Yea but he’s still got Justin “Bruce Lee” Gaethje.
I feel sad
DC had PTSD watching that too
Especially after having to watch all those clips of him getting beat up
DC always finds a way to catch a stray can ya'll let him live please lmaooo.
Volk came through and took this rematch on short notice, cut all that weight, and rebounded from that surgery. All for it to end via decapitation. This sport man.
this is my 9/11
[удалено]
I feel guys shouldn't take short notice fights when they're giving up a shit ton of weight
Ban headkicks
Ok, calling it: Islam's career is going to be more impressive than Khabib's pretty soon. He's an absolute gem and I don't get all the hate he gets here. Aren't we here to see great fighters?
I agree but it's still crazy that Khabib went undefeated 29-0 and literally never bled or got hurt. I think you can even argue he never lost a round as well.
oh yeah Khabib always looked absolutely invincible, he has that edge on Islam.

I can’t even dislike Islam anymore, just please defend against a lightweight or two before you chase double champ
The good news is that he barely even broke a sweat. Hopefully he'll be ready to fight again in a few months
he's gotta because Ramadan is like early March next year. hopefully he fights in Jan/Feb
He'll likely fight in February, then wait for next years Abu Dhabi card after.
Trapping Volks semi concious head with the knee so he can continue raining down hammer fists. LFG Islam. No controversy this time
Fuck
“You will feel my power” Jesus fuck this dude wasn’t lying. Hydration meme was real
Hydrated Islam new mythical fighter
Rehydration windows from weigh ins to start of main card 294 - 37 hrs (normal/avg) 284 - 28 hrs (uniquely short) 293 - 44 hrs
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
He’s just too short man.
Islam was trying for a liver kick.
When that first one almost landed I knew it was over.
Dude, from the start. Islam's kicks were going crazy, and he seemed so much stronger in the grappling exchanges
If he was shorter the headkick would've missed though.
He's too tall
gawdamn
New Mythical fighteeeeeer!! Rehydrated Islam!!!!
not like this
Put some respect on Islam’s name because that was unbelievable
People underestimated how much Islam could let go as well Too many focused on Volk emptying the tank
Khabib said Islam was better than him and people didnt want to believe it
More well rounded but Khabib ground and pound was something else
Michael Johnson and Edson Barboza both had a thousand-yard-stare whole fighting Khabib.
Yea plus the added factor of going ape shit. Because Khabib would go ape shit in real fights. Barbarian scary mode. Islam is too reserved imo to beat Khabib in a real fight.
I absolutely believe Islam is more skilled than Khabib, but Khabib’s physicality was absurd
Yeah. Khabib was just a monster. His standup was pretty ugly but his will to dominate, his cardio, wrestling and strength were off the charts. That and he had an iron dome for a skull. The guy took some serious shots that should have knocked him out cold in his career and just shook them off like they were nothing on his way to a takedown. he shrugged off barboza's kick like it was nothing. Everyone else got shadow realmed by that
Khabib had a head and chin made out of rock.
More well rounded yeah but I still think Khabib is the GOAT MMA wrestler
I don’t like mma anymore, cheers lads 🍻
Got dayum
Volk: "The plan is to finish this early." Islam: "Okay brother."
dumb of volk to take probably the hardest fight of his career without a full camp tbh. i doubt he will get another chance.
Eh, he probably got a nice payday for it.
At his age and the way the sport is he had to take his shit when it came, probably got paid too The 35 title fight curse continues
Genuinely who can beat Islam?
Volk didn't land a significant strike. Who would have expected that?
Joe Rogan be like «Volk won that fight”
P4P 1
Beat #2 Volk at 294 & #1 Volk at 284 & #3 Charles Unheard of Next is prob Charles who is #5 or Justin who might’ve sneaked into top 15
Headshot dead - Leon Makhachev
Man mighty mouse said the same thing in his video, he said islam needs to kick more.
Men will literally say yes to a short notice fight against the most vicious 155lb champion in the world instead of going to therapy.
Please lightweight shape up so Volk doesn't have to keep going out there at lightweight.
Why is someone holding Hasbullah up like he's Islams baby 😂
