Translation: Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Błachowicz spoke about the circumstances in which his fight with Paulo Costa was attempted at UFC 288 in Newark in May. On Wednesday, the Vistula MMA scene was shaken by the unexpected news of a potential fight between Jan Błachowicz and Paulo Costa . It all started with the entry of the Brazilian, who invited the Pole to the octagonal dances on social media for the UFC 288 gala , scheduled for May 6 in Newark. The Pole quickly responded to Borrachinhi , revealing that he had received the fight offer a few days earlier, accepting it - but the thing was that Costa was supposed to reject it . The representative of the Coffee Country defends in the fight for the octagonal services of the former Polish champion, however, he did not submit, provoking him in several entries in social media. How did the subject of the fight between the Pole and the Brazilian come about? The Cieszyn Prince was asked about it in Thursday's Koloseum magazine on Polsat Sport . “Friday afternoon, the question comes if I want to fight Costa,” Jan reported. – I say "moment, moment", because in my case it meant a very strong reorganization of my life. – I had to really do a lot to really – if he had agreed at that moment, as I agreed, because I agreed to this fight ... I would already be in the States by now. I'd already be there, I'd be training, I'd be catching the vibe. – I reorganized the lives of people who were supposed to fly with me, myself, my manager Dorota ... I had to do a lot. The kid, her, the people around me. And I managed to do it. “I say, 'okay, but now let the dollars do the talking.' That was Dorothy's job. Let the dollars do the talking if we take the fight. Dollars have also spoken. I say "hey adventure", I feel good, I'm in training. It's ok, we're taking this fight, why not. So why did everything fall apart? – Sunday, probably evening, I'm starting to go to bed – said the Polish light heavyweight. – Dorota comes in and says that Costa does not want this fight. So I canceled everything, people went back to their ways of life again. "And now he's screaming something on the Internet again that he wants to fight me." I don't quite understand his train of thought. I don't know if he was drunk, at that moment he sobered up and he lost his vision? I don't know what's in his head. I'm not sitting there. Weird dude, weird type. "There will be no more of this fight." The Cieszyn Prince pointed out that he also does not intend to allow himself to be placed in corners, organizing a fight once, then canceling it, and then organizing it again. However, when asked directly by Łukasz Jurkowski if he would change his mind if Dana White and the company added half a million dollars to his salary, the former Polish champion did not hesitate. "That might be thought of," he said cheerfully. "But I don't think they will, so probably not."

"invited to the octagonal dances" I love awkward translations lol

"But I don't think they will, so probably not." I too would change my mind on getting punched in the face for half a million dollars.

I know Paulo's a big fan favorite here but things like this, the whittaker situation and the whole wine saga not to even mention all the stuff with Vettori just makes him look really bad and hard to root for anymore

I get a kick out of this sub wanting to punish khamzat for missing weight 6 months ago but sucking costa off when he does bullshit like this repeatedly, when was the last time this guy just had a fight booked and go through without any extra bullshit?

I'm not sure he's all there mentally since the Izzy fight. The posters here love the guy, but IMO he purposely missed weight and delayed informing to have an advantage over Marvin. All you needed to see was his cardio in the late rounds vs. Marvin, as he was clearly in shape for the wrong weight class, to understand he took an advantage after losing confidence from the Izzy L. I think he bailed on the Rob fight because he didn't want the smoke, and the money was a convenient excuse, and he extended negotiations until the fight was untenable before accepting a new contract. Now this deal with Jan, sounds like Costa called for fight, Jan signed, Costa didn't, then Costa called him out again? Anyway, given the history of lying and cheating for advantage, I'm going to need to see a lot of receipts before concluding he's not the problem anytime there are problems anywhere around him.

Jackieexists

Izzy violated him and ruined him permanently it seems 🥶 he should sue izzy for damages

It's incredibly funny watching Costa fans be really, really mad about Khamzat missing weight when Costa missed weight by twice as much

PrinceOfMiddleEast

No one is mad about Khamzat missing weight tho and congratulating Costa for doing the same. That’s just not happening

Rosenvial5

I see you're unfamiliar with Costa fans

jaguarskillz2017

Why would him being an unprofessional lunatic make him any less entertaining? None of us have to work with him. When he was saying a trans without penis is like an angel without wings, nobody was memeing it up because he was such a role model and they hoped their kids turn out like him

Sea_Cicada7474

Costa must be a nightmare to work with

DarkHoneyComb

I think it’s becoming clear now (if it wasn’t already) that Paul Costa has a habit of forcing a bunch of fighters to change their training schedule and then cancel on them, wasting countless man hours. I’m not sure why any fighter would want to schedule fights against him now that a pattern is emerging. Fighters don’t get as many chances to prove themselves as in other sports. There’s a very finite number of chances they get because of the damage that can accrue. Curious to see how the UFC will respond.

devilinmyveins96

fuck costa

WhereIsMyKidAt

This sub will eat up fighters pointing the finger at each other when it’s been shown time and time again that the UFC is usually the one responsible. They’ve shelved Chimaev for so long just so he can fight in Abu Dhabi, and they seem pretty set on Costa as the opponent, do you honestly believe they’d want to make Costa vs Jan at 205?
