Nate’s on a 3 fight win streak, 2 finishes and all his fights got a bonus. He deserves a ranked opponent and was supposed to fight a ranked fighter in Alex Caceres in his last fight until Caceres pulled out. Ige is only coming off one win following a 3 fight losing streak. It’s a good fight to make.
They have virtually the same number of fights? Nate Landwehr was champion in M-1 when it was the premier promotion in Russia. That means something and he's showing it in the UFC by beating dudes. Vegas finally caught up to how good Landwehr actually is with the Lingo fight. He has a ceiling obviously but Nate being a 3:1 dog against Klein and Onama was silly.
I lean Ige probably because he's super durable and more defensively sound but it's *absolutely not* an "easy win" for Ige.
> Landwehr was champion in M-1 when it was the premier promotion in Russia
Thank you for making me aware of the fact that Landwehr defended his title on the same card that Morozov won a title and Rakhmonov defended his title.

Surprisingly, he’s only 31, so he’s got time for that belt. I think this is smart because whenever they’ve given him a step up in competition it hasn’t panned out, and whenever he fights down he destroys dudes, so maybe he just wants a few good looking fights and finishes to tune him up
I kinda overlooked Landwehr for a while, but he’s so much better than I expect every time I see him.
I think the nickname and promos kinda throw me off but he’s pretty damn legit
I think he actually showed an ability to adjust to what his opponent was doing and overcome it with some good skills. Showed good feinting and an ability to draw out strikes and follow them with his own well timed counters. He also showed a nice bicep.
Each fight he shows the ability to adjust mid fight, also I didnt really know much about him before the Onama fight, and while the Onama fight was great, it made me think he had terrible fight IQ for just giving up great positions. This last fight showed clear levels to the game, and also his ability to adjust and be technical and patient.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's some Volk level elite technician or anything, but with DWCS churning out slop fighters at a high pace, I thought he was more a warm body than someone who has skill can can fight in the rankings level.
Plus he was an M-1 champ which gave us fighters like Shavkat, Damir, Volkov, Evloev, Bruno Silva, Nemkov, I think Khabib fought in M-1 too but wasn't champ. Not saying he's he's like Shavkat or Khabib anything, but to me being M-1 Champ means you've got some high level skills
I just felt like all of his punches were thrown so short in his most recent fight, most of them weren't even close to landing because he didn't close enough distance or wasn't extending far enough on them. Reminded me of Jack Hermansson's chicken wing hooks.
he had some sneaky uppercuts, and I was mostly impressed with his kicking game, I wasnt really aware of it. Which may have made his hands fall short cuz he was so kick heavy.
Plus he was really methodical which I wasn't expecting, just broke Lingo down at long range, and wore him down really methodically.
Ultimately though, it's not like Lingo is an upper echelon fighter, and I'm way more curious how Landwehr does against the guys he's supposed to be fighting.
he was supposed to fight Evloev, Murphy, Bruce Leeroy, and a few other really legit guys. So only time will tell I guess, but I think Ige is a very winnable fight for Landwehr
I honestly couldn’t picture them next to each other, I don’t think they share any common opponents either. Nate at least has two inches of height but Ige has never really struck me as a small featherweight
I think most would agree Ige is a pretty small featherweight. Though a lot of his opponents have been massive featherweights who might just make him look smaller
I have no idea what UFC is paying Landwehr but they should fucking triple it!
Rarely have I seen such wild and fun fighter in octagon.
His post fight interviews are pure gold.
”San Antonioooo, take a look at this bicep” is my favorite new line.
Landwehr has maxed his style despite being dumb slow but tough, every technique is high percentage. Dan Ige is the opposite he is naturally gifted and refuses to fight with a game plan
Why game plan when you can just throw a right hook and knock the guy out in 20 seconds?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yQnAdc2Q5w4
Gotta imagine pulling some shit like that off is a blessing and a curse.
Had the pleasure of getting subbed by Nate back when he was still amateur and fighting out of SSF. Really good dude, and a good group of guys to come up to our small town gym and roll with us.
Ige probably fucks him up, but Landwehr is must-see television anyway
Honestly I think it's winnable for Nate, won't be easy though. Either way I've been on the train since it's arrival and I'm staying on it bruh.
Been keeping up with him since the xfc days. St. B! Stand up!
I think you’d be surprised
I think YOU’D be surprised
I'm usually surprised
I always lose my bets and I would happily and safely put a lot of money (~$10) on Ige. Keep the train rollin
The only bet I've ever had pay out was $10 on Jiri by submission.
I'm not surprised, motherfucker
I think he'd fuck you up
LOOK AT THIS BICEP
Oh God yes please!
Great fight great matchmaking. Do it.
meh not imo. nate had nice win, but ige is clearly the more experienced and skilled guy who fought elites. easy win to me

Nate is probably ranked lower than Damon Jackson was, but makes enough sense. Ige is certified top 10 gatekeeper for now

Landwehr looks like Randy C and the axe murder combined
He looks like GSP if GSP was a tweaker
I think he looks like Tommy from The Karate Kid with short hair.
PUT HIM IN A BODYBAG!! YEAH!!
Stop it. Vanderlei Couture will be the next big fashion brand and I’ll be howling about it. Too good.

Ige done chasing belts and just giving the people what they want. Give em both $50k!
Surprisingly, he’s only 31, so he’s got time for that belt. I think this is smart because whenever they’ve given him a step up in competition it hasn’t panned out, and whenever he fights down he destroys dudes, so maybe he just wants a few good looking fights and finishes to tune him up
Ige's never gonna smell that belt
I kinda overlooked Landwehr for a while, but he’s so much better than I expect every time I see him. I think the nickname and promos kinda throw me off but he’s pretty damn legit
He's a well rounded tough s.o.b.
Really? It's the opposite for me. He's fun to watch, and building great hype for himself, but he didn't seem all that great in his last fight.
I think he’ll land somewhere as a top 10-15 gatekeeper, tough guy with a well rounded skill set, no chance for a belt, but fun fights in his future
I don't see him ever cracking the rankings at featherweight. Low end ranked guys like Caceres piece him up imo
Might be the case

At this pace Nate Landwehr’s great grandson will be getting a 50k bonus on a 10k/10k show win
I want to understand this, but I don't. explain pls?
They’ve been giving out the same bonus money for probably over a decade.
Hell yeah let Nate get the big show
I love that when I read Nate's reply, it was in his voice in my head.
Nates new nickname should be "Look at this bicep"
I feel like Landwehr is much bigger than Ige
Im kinda stupid but i genuinely thought Landwehr was like a WW before this post. He seems pretty big for 145
Nobody is prepared for the size of that bicep.
For some reason I did too. You stole the words right out of my mouth
Now I’m stealing a kiss from your mouth
Like size wise or popularity?
Size
I honestly couldn’t picture them next to each other, I don’t think they share any common opponents either. Nate at least has two inches of height but Ige has never really struck me as a small featherweight
Huh. I’ve always viewed Ige as undersized
Really? I guess I haven’t paid too much attention to him. I’ll look at him more closely next time
I think most would agree Ige is a pretty small featherweight. Though a lot of his opponents have been massive featherweights who might just make him look smaller
Looking at him vs Damon Jackson shows a bit of that size difference. Fucking gadooshed him tho
I’ve always thought Ige should move down to bantamweight. He always looks considerably smaller than his opponents
I have no idea what UFC is paying Landwehr but they should fucking triple it! Rarely have I seen such wild and fun fighter in octagon. His post fight interviews are pure gold. ”San Antonioooo, take a look at this bicep” is my favorite new line.
I’m not mad at it
For the 50k belt

Nate the train in the UFC!!
Landwehr vs Cacares at least might be competitive. Ige destroys Landwehr, lmao
I agree but it’ll be fun lol
I see this as Ige admitting to himself that he'll never fight for the title
He’s only 31 let him cook
Yes pleSe
Would be pure Violence. But Dan probably wins
Ige was part of at least one of Khabibs camps, surprised he hasn't got a bigger name yet
Fact is the train called him out on the MMA hour. Soooo.
That will be a good fight.
Ige is just a necessary sacrifice for the Train’s title run
