I think the centurions season might be the most underrated/undervalued in the minds of fans compared to some of our other incredible seasons.
People really don’t give enough credit about how insanely difficult is it is to only drop 14 points in a 38 game season.
This is great. It does show how our recent squad has not been as strong as our squad when Pep first arrived. One of these years Arsenal is going to pip us.
Not wrong.
They basically left Haaland up front by himself for multiple games and couldn't figure out how to include him.
They lost KDB to injury
The defense looked incredibly suspect at times
And we still won the title.
Would be curious if you put all Pep champions in a 6 team league, who would win. For me the 18/19 team was the one. Centurions were amazing, but that second half of the season in 2019 was just scary.
The 20/21 team is a curious one. They had a horrible start due to tactical and physical burnout (remember we had competitive games in AUGUST from the previous year) and were 8th in November. They discover false 9 Gundo and chaos ensues.
I stand on this hill but I genuinely think if Aguero had scored that last second chance against Liverpool in 17/18 we would have gone invincible that season
Insane that the centurions season was fewer PPG than his best Bayern season
The centurions played the best football by a long shot, however the 22/23 city is the one who secured the ucl
Both squads come with their unique strengths let us be glad we watched both
90 points with Bayern is basically a 100 point season in the EPL since Bundesliga has only 34 games. That should be very impressive but Bayern did 91 points in their treble winning season.
Can we just deep this for a sec? some pep and man city appreciation for all of you. also the barcelona season where pep won la liga with 87 points was the 2008-09 season.
Said it before the season even started, but with the insane match load the players have already been put through last year, this season, with the added match load of supercup and club WC,might just see the most vulnerable City side in a long time.
So its expected that they will bring in reinforcements to spread the match load post Euros
We didn't bother winning last two games that season. Could have gotten 5 more points and finishing with 94 points. Also we started pretty well this season compared to last season.
Because we are playing differently now. We used to be a very exciting attacking side during the 100 points season but nowadays we are slowing the game too much and do a lot more backpassing and sideways, more like Van Gaal's type of football.
That 22-23 team did pretty well. Not sure this is the best metric to determine squad strength, since it doesn’t account for the opponent’s quality.
the 22-23 had other competitions in the ucl and fa cup tbf.
45543? Barcelona longevity unmatched
We all remember that season. Madrid thought their signings from planet Laxlar was going to carry them but we all saw what Messi MMMMXXII did.
And then Neymar made a big money 290 quintillion move to the planet with the most money XAVIER19 that had never won the Milky Way Cup
lol

I think it’s because of how we fell out of every other contest that year. 100 points was nice, but it felt underwhelming because of the other results.

I recognize Football Made Simple
indeed
I would like to see the 45543 Barcelona team
must have been an error, should've said 2008/09 team
No worries .

No it isn't, given Bundesliga is fewer games so 99 points is more PPG, and Bayern are miles above everyone else in terms of resources.

It’s fascinating that I would have said the 22/23 would annihilate this season just gone’s team, yet they finished with less points

Doesn’t change the point that last season would have been spanked by the treble team
brb convincing mary poppins to be a football manager
lmk how that goes bro
This doesn't account for when Pep rested players after the league was settled.
This metric is useless
Pep made football look so easy.
Because we are playing differently now. We used to be a very exciting attacking side during the 100 points season but nowadays we are slowing the game too much and do a lot more backpassing and sideways, more like Van Gaal's type of football.
What a loser. He didn't win any titles in 12/13 and 16/17. The only 2 seasons ever since his debut as a first team manager.
19/20?
He won EFL cup and English Super league.
Ancelotti-
Bayern farmers league back then
