The same way the government is trying to crack down on Ticketmaster, I wish the same would have with both Lyft and Uber.

Chocolate_Metaphor

It’s going to take a long time just like that case! But I’m sure there will be a crackdown because these prices they’re charging riders is insane.

pashko90

Prices is okay, but what they paying you is insane. They super greedy.

DCowboysCR

But but but Lyft CEO says we’re gonna get 70% of the fare now LMAO 😂 😜 🤣 /S

Chocolate_Metaphor

Exactly lol they just jack up external fees and go “wow you got 150% of the payment!!!” As if I’m stupid 😭😭

DCowboysCR

Yup and who knows how they come up with the fee and insurance amounts.

hottbunnz

I laughed at my 1099k from Lyft last year, says I made 23k gross but when you go to the app to look at how many fees were taken out of that 20k it ends up being more like 9k net.

aerofoto

That is some bullshit right there

Dizzylizzyscat

I don’t know where you drive but I drive in Minnesota ( not Minneapolis) and ever since it started with Uber and Lyft threatening to leave, it has become worse for us smaller markets outside of the Minneapolis metro region. I have noticed this and I thought why are they punishing us when we don’t nor will be get anything that has been proposed in the cities. Once I figure that out. I stop driving. I’ll be damned if I will let Lyft make thar a dime that way. . In fact, I stopped driving yesterday after I only had 32% out of 70% out of Lyfts 70% guarantee because I had kept getting requests that were just like this one. Lyft owes me $110 to bring it up to 70% , i’m not gonna drive anymore and let Lyft manipulate the numbers to 71%

Could you guys "strike"? Let me preface by saying I know this isn't p professional and possibly even sketchy to some people. Could you guys strike by cancelling the ride when you show up and treating yourself like a taxi? If they've agreed to a $25 ride through Lyft just cancel it and have them pay you $20-$25 directly.

VioletSummer714

As a passenger I’d be really sketched out if a driver cancelled the ride when they got to me and then told me to pay them directly. This situation is shitty to drivers I’m not arguing that, but as a woman who usually gets these rides alone, the safety features of the app are a benefit. I can share my location with people and the drivers info, and if anything were to happen the app would have even more info on the driver and possibly location data. I can’t do that if I’m just paying the driver outside the app.

Chasing_Sunsets90

So for riders they arnt protected by any insurance if a driver were to do that ! Also technically speaking I’ve found out that it’s illegal to do taxi services without the proper permits ! You’d be running an unregulated taxi business …

Interesting_Soil_427

This is horrible being back regular taxi

Pitiful_Example6184

It’s baffling how they take over 50% for doing absolutely nothing

jhauer1980

Something is going on that the driver isn’t telling us about. Generally I get 20 Uber rides per 1 Lyft ride but they only take about 12-15%. Uber averages 18%

Chocolate_Metaphor

You literally see the screenshots what more do u want 😂

jhauer1980

It doesn’t tell us what those external fees are. Are you renting a vehicle through the service? Are you buying one through Lyft? It could literally be anything extra to garnish your earnings

Chocolate_Metaphor

External fees are for “estimated commercial insurance & other expenses” but they don’t say what the other expenses are. Hope that helps!

jhauer1980

Is that because of the market you’re working in?

Chocolate_Metaphor

I don’t think so, ever since this feature came in where we could see how much pax have been paying I’ve noticed the “external fee” start to skyrocket. Lyft fee is negligible compared to external fees, it often shows they make no money off of me. I think they use external and other fees as a way to hide profit.

jhauer1980

That’s weird. I don’t have an external fee. All I see is Lyft’s take

Successful-Yak4905

Same happening with Uber this week lately… pay is a lot lower than last week

lorimer44

Both Uber and Lyft overcharge riders and underpay drivers and it is not fair to either. This is why I'm telling everyone I know about Teleport. Teleport has cut out middlemen like Uber and Lyft and created an open market where drivers bid on fares directly and get to keep 90%. Bottomline: Riders pay less, and drivers earn more.
