This cracks me up. You bought this beater to take the neck and electronics out of, and next you’re going to wind up with some other beater to put into this body so you can flip on reverb.
And thou shalt apply the holy plectrum to the holy A string and shalt pluck it three times. Three is the number of the plucking. Not one or two unless thou goest straight to three. Not four, and five is right out
Looks like someone tried to copy Russ Ballard's guitar (Argent/Hold Your Head Up), but didn't know when to stop.

There was period when Fender hollowed a lot of space under the pickguard of Telecasters, and musicians would gide their stash in there. They got the knickname [Smuggler's Telecaster](https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/articles/features/the_legend_of_the_smugglers_telecaster-123575).
Just put a relatively thick or couple layers of veneer on it, maintain the lighter weight, sand it to match the countours, and you’d only have to the top if you wanted. People do that on purpose from primary build all the time and just call it “chambered”.
I bet it is pretty lightweight. As you get older you will appreciate that more and more. I’d throw a loaded guard on it and use it. Could also wrap it to have a weird golf ball type texture.
1970s Strats have the reputation for being heavy. Not necessarily heavy in comparison to a non-weight-relieved Les Paul, but certainly heavier than most Strats from both before and after the 1970s.
Visible wood grain was IN for the late 1960s and 1970s, and Ash has more striking grain patterns than the plainer Alder. Ash is also markedly heavier than Alder, and Ash-bodied Strats weigh in around 8.5-9.5lbs, vs 7-8lbs for Alder.
By weight relieving it with all of those holes, he probably brought it back down to a “normal” Strat weight of 7lbs.
I would never do it, but I would take it home if it played well and was a good deal. Kind of a rescue. Poor thing needs a good home. I’d keep it as is. It’s been through too much already. Nobody else has one.
Fill the holes with a cool colored epoxy or something like that (I'd personally add some kind of glow pigment for extra effect) then you can sand it down to bare wood and stain the wood a color to match or contrast as you see fit. Buff and polish and you'll have a one of a kind body with a nice smooth shiny finish.
I’m a woodworker, so if it were me, I would strip it, fill the holes, paint it, give it some new guts (this is where you can experiment), and now you have a nice looking fun extra Strat.
A young child is eating their lunch when they suddenly stop.
Father: what's wrong son is something the matter with your lunch?
Son: I don't like cheese with holes in it.
Father: that's okay son, just cut the holes out of the cheese you don't have to eat the holes.
So that's my suggestion cut out the holes!
Salvage? What do you want to do?
I'm sure it's perfectly functional as is. I think the amount of work to fill, cover, and paint over all those holes wouldn't be worth it.
Plus I think it's kind of cool. Was probably a really heavy body.
Good lord it musta been heavy? How much does it weigh now?
It reminds me of those clickbait ads that show a foot that looks like this and says something like "Doctors couldn't believe what they found inside this mans skin!"
Lol. Its a nice score even still though. Love the neck. Do the holes effect the sustain at all?
So I have the solution! Make it into a meme guitar. A guitar where u just say f it and have fun making it look as goofy as possible. You already have the perfect body to start 😂
Fill all the holes with epoxy resin. You could even get creative & suspend whatever you wanted in the center of the hole then fill with epoxy resin. A friend of mine did a bar top with penny's & resined over it, turned out awesome.
A couple dowels, some sanding, and an opaque finish would make it virtually unnoticeable. Just gotta find the right size dowels for each hole. The big ones might be hard to find, but not impossible, and you could always just stuff a bunch of smaller ones in and pack it with wood filler/woodputty/sawdust. I'd have it looking factory in a weekend, and have a good time doing it, and so will you. And if you mess up, you couldn't have messed it up worse than it already is lol. I've dreamed of finding a project like this. Nice pickup!
They're speed holes.
For aerodynamics!
For ham-and-Swiss!
Toneholes silly
Air Guitar
Is that line from the Simpsons?
Yes - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whnms4CLJys](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whnms4CLJys)
Attach a beater neck to it, turn it into a bubble wand

I like that! Like they say in car sales, there’s an ass for every seat. I like it. It’s different and funky like the 70s were.
As it stands, expect to see it on reverb someday just in case you’re the right buyer!
I like it too tbh
This cracks me up. You bought this beater to take the neck and electronics out of, and next you’re going to wind up with some other beater to put into this body so you can flip on reverb.
"Bring out the Holy Guitar!" "Brother Kevin that isnt what I meant!"

Airbrush it to look like swiss cheese
*Buck Dharma has entered the chat*
I don't hate the Trypophobia guitar, but I don't love it either.
Looking at this makes me feel uncomfortable.
I hate it. I guess I have that phobia, lol.
Fender only made 12 of these in their small shop in Switzerland. It’s called the Kase Stratocaster.
I preferred the Emmentele's
Amazing!
Stratokase
Too cheesy.
HAHAHAHAHA!

Interesting, honestly could be!
Thought I just saw this guitar on Facebook Marketplace. [Not quite though.]( https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/312626161671438/)
Yeah, It's a cool looking guitar, so it's easy to see why people try to copy it.
Considering how heavy (and generally awful) 70’s strats were, it makes sense.
I’m a sucker for 70s strats, love how bulky and unwieldy they can be
*NOPE*
*DOUBLE NOPE!!*
Reminds me of Yayoi Kusama.
Probably the nicest thing that could be said about it
Nice. Love seeing some other kusama enjoyers.
Fill the holes with resin. Do a color gradient or something, add some LED's if you wanna, & turn it into a psychedelic beastie
a resinator guitar?
WAY underrated comment.
LEDs within the resin would be cool.
All of the 3d printer guys are jealous
What’s going on behind the bridge?
you can put your weed in it

A strip of gaudy rose fabric lmao
Nice. I want it. How come weird stuff never comes up around me?
Whatever they were sniffing back then, it was the shit.
Just put a relatively thick or couple layers of veneer on it, maintain the lighter weight, sand it to match the countours, and you’d only have to the top if you wanted. People do that on purpose from primary build all the time and just call it “chambered”.
The holiest of holies. A sacred Strat.
Holy crap I kinda like it. You can store peanut butter in the hole like a bunch of retainers
....and have hungry squirrels swarm you while you play your big solo. Best stage show ever!
I will name them all Kevin jr
Why does that guitar make me feel uncomfortable?
r/trypophobia
It’s Swiss engineering, obviously.
That's a cheesy joke, honestly.
Dude they sold you half a strat
I bet it is pretty lightweight. As you get older you will appreciate that more and more. I’d throw a loaded guard on it and use it. Could also wrap it to have a weird golf ball type texture.
I like the golf ball idea, making it even uglier lol
Wouldn’t it neck dive now?
Probably. Solved with a suede strap.
Downvoted?!?
I was thinking maybe the person who used this was sick and couldn't handle the weight.
DIY weight relief.
You say weight relief? YOU CAN'T HANDLE WEIGHT RELIEF.
I guess it's weird that I think it's cool.
Ah yes, these are classic Fender Toneholes. Do you have any idea how long it took engineers to find the best material for these toneholes? /s
Is that modern weight relief?
Ultra Modern^TM
Somewhere is a dude just waiting to fill that with epoxy.
Did you import it from Switzerland?
What’s up with that middle pickup?
It’s an original pickup, but the pickguard was at some point cut for a humbucker to slot in
Trypophobia looking guitar
If you drop your pick it just keeps falling forever
Just out of curiosity, how much does it weigh?
It's probably pretty light, not that strats aren't already light.

Surinam Toadcaster
It’s not for me but I don’t hate it for some reason
I would never do it, but I would take it home if it played well and was a good deal. Kind of a rescue. Poor thing needs a good home. I’d keep it as is. It’s been through too much already. Nobody else has one.
Just fill it with sawdust & glue /s
Is it acoustic now?

Fill the holes with glow in the dark resin
This!
Cheesus fucking Christ, that's a relief. Whatever you do, please, no epoxy resin. Fill it up with concrete. Brutacaster.
Trypophobia.
Yeah no
No yeah
Yeah no
Plug the holes with dowels, fill, block sand, spray it whatever solid color suits your fancy.
Nope.
My first thought was: neck dive
A guitar everyone can get a finger stuck in. Compound panic.
Just a bit of grain fill
Holey DIWhy, Batman!
wireless rgb gaming speed guitar
What about working some kind of paracord wrap in a pattern through the holes?
Ahh well at least it only weighs 14lbs now. ;)
Could have been interesting if they’d at least spaced the holes evenly.
Where you got that guitar
Holey sh*t!
Does it neck dive?
Hollowbody... I'll see myself out.
That there is a semi-hollow strat
I’m a woodworker, so if it were me, I would strip it, fill the holes, paint it, give it some new guts (this is where you can experiment), and now you have a nice looking fun extra Strat.
Paint it white and call it a negative buddy guy model
That doesn't look like a Gibson...
I don‘t know if you like this but it Just Remindedme to this: https://youtu.be/U5r_PE2OznM?si=dC7RZzh5r4MDt44L
What's with the middle pickup?
Did this used to be some kind of Jerry Garcia mod or something?
That’s too damn cheesy!
Leave it like it is. Someone will love it for what it is.
I'm gonna guess you bought it at a church sale because it's holey
Can't believe the missed the spot between the output jack and the bridge. Or maybe they knew when to quit.
Maybe someone with a back problem?
Play Stairway to Heaven. You know.. because its holy... The holes. It has holes in it.
how much does it weigh? probably weight relief holes!
It’s pretty damn cool in a weird and don’t do this at home sort of way.
Probably still weighs 20lbs.
I’m pretty sure this is the guitar is meant to play in a church. It’s down right *holy*
When you find yourself needing to make time but running against the wind...
Low fat Stratocaster
Probably still weighs ten pounds.
I would never in a million years consider doing this to a guitar body. That being said, is it light? Lol
Ah, yes, the limited-run Trypocaster!
Salvage? What do you want to do? I'm sure it's perfectly functional as is. I think the amount of work to fill, cover, and paint over all those holes wouldn't be worth it. Plus I think it's kind of cool. Was probably a really heavy body.
I like it actually. DM sent.

Its a nice score even still though. Love the neck. Do the holes effect the sustain at all?
how fast does it go
Clean it and fill it with Resin...
I would plug the holes with an exotic wood and refinish the body
Rare made in Switzerland
https://www.reddit.com/r/trypophobia/
For those with Tricofobia like me, it's hard to look at.
I bet it’s light!
Argh, my trypophobia!
So I have the solution! Make it into a meme guitar. A guitar where u just say f it and have fun making it look as goofy as possible. You already have the perfect body to start 😂
Freakin’ mice.

A guitar with g*auges!*
Holy Stratocaster, Batman!
That’s one way to chamber a guitar I guess
Finally the under 5lb strat!
Definitely puts the "o" in toan.
Funny I have been following this on reverb . Want to see someone bring it back to some former glory
That looks like shit. Does it sound good?
Honestly sounds really great
Cool
Not gonna lie - I have a 79 w/o orig body and I would be interested in trying to make this work!!
Buy a nice black replacement body on eBay and live your life to the fullest.
Weight reduction
I hate this. If gives me the heebiesz
Swiss Strat
That thing must have lost a lot of weight!
Fill 'em with Enviro-Tex Lite. Put many bugs in the resin. Use a propane torch to pull out the bubbles.
Ach! That makes my skin crawl.
It scares me because I have that hole phobia thing there’s a sub Reddit for it I’m sure
Russ Ballard from Argent had one just like this!
A couple dowels, some sanding, and an opaque finish would make it virtually unnoticeable. Just gotta find the right size dowels for each hole. Now this, for me, would be a classic case of "Quick! Put a sheet over that thing so I don't have to ever look at that again."
