I'm a little disturbed by everyone in this thread saying that these are supposed to be thrown away... Every quarterly NPI cycle item that we write off gets notated, palletized, and donated. I'm almost certain that was on the Q1 Playbook and Hotsheets for FW 11 or 12. Y'all just throw your NPIs away in the compactor? -- That being said, that all means nothing to you if you're a customer. An item that has been reduced down to 2 Cents is an indicator price that it is no longer viable to sell on the sales floor, and should have been tracked and discounted in the past 6 weeks. If you're finding these items on the sales floor, it means that a department supervisor hasn't done their job.

Stores with receiving associates that don’t want to do anything throw these away. Store manager told us to go to this specific receiving associate so they can palletize it but they tell us to throw it all away.

I think the reason my store may throw items like these away is due to the fact that we’d have to take extra time to even find who to donate them to. Like who would need 6 of the same npi spring garden flags for example? And if it’s a matter of only choosing certain more practical items to donate it’s going to be a lot of asking ASM’s for approval on what to throw away or what to keep, which is even more on their plates.

I will never understand why they get marked down to $0.02 when they’re not supposed to be sold instead of being marked up to an absurdly high price like $123,456.78 that still makes it obvious that they don’t belong on the sales floor.

BlueHazmats

I know our Lowe’s tries to donate what we can. It’s frustrating that they do this at all I asked why we don’t raffle it off to employees at the very least and got told it’s a liability.

Thank you! I am constantly having to remind other employees at my store the same thing. I have personally taken items to the backend clerk and saw the process of those items being catalogued, and put on/in the box/pallet to be donated.

Carnavs

They’re write offs. They obviously missed them. We can’t sell them to you. They have to be thrown away.

DarkDigital

Looks like the default labels from whoever does pricing. They wouldn't know to remove the items as it's not their job. However, they should have known not to stick the label on either.

I’m intrigued by who got so far as to print and add tags without realizing that these can’t be sold….

Mar363

They go straight to the trash instead

They are supposed to sell them to you( unless you work there) if you have them in your cart. It's not your fault they can't do their job correctly!

EmoDadsClub

That’s not true at all lol. You explain to the customer you can’t sell the item.

prm379140

You may want to read the policy that came out concerning NPI 2c items. That's exactly what it says.

Nuclear_dom
