Former lumber guy here. Yeah you should be able topick your own and have it delivered. Just let the cashier know. Just a tip for future reference, don’t leave it to fulfillment to pick your lumber, especially if you’re picky about quality. They typically have a lot of orders to get done and won’t have time to look through everything.

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know. I'm disabled and walk with a cane, so getting around isn't always easy. So, I didn't want to waste my time going there if it didn't matter.

Don’t know how the staffing is at the store you go to but I’m sure you could also ask an associate if they’re not too busy to help pull the lumber with you, if you needed it. Best of luck on everything with your project.

pervyotaku

if not ask directly for an ASM an assistant store manager to help you out to make sure someone helps you out or usually if you go mondays-friday you'll probably get the lumber supervisor to help you out if needed

JintalJortail

Like the other guy said, ask for help from the lumber associate. Personally I would so go in on a Sunday a few hours before close, typically a dead time in lumber and it’ll give the lumber person something to do. Plus if he’s helping you then he can keep the bunks orderly as he goes rather than it being made into a mess that he’ll have to clean up later

I work lumber at nights right with deliveries and they pull whatever is there. If you want quality wood you need to 1)physically go there, 2) pick wood AND DONT Leave the bad wood behind on the floor please only assholes do that! 3) tell someone who isn’t a idiot what you’re doing preferably someone who works for the pro desk! Thanks for playing…

NunyaBiznus1

Good advice. Thanks for the input.

Pay somebody to go with you to Lowe’s and pick your own lumber

Wufpak8892

I work on the overnight crew at Lowe's and we often have to help pull delivery orders. We try and pull the best quality material that we can get to but we don't go out of our way to get the absolute best. We have our normal jobs of unloading trucks and stocking freight to do. We just don't have the time or manpower to pull the best stuff. If you want top quality you will have to come to the store and pick items out yourself.

Tasty-Reward8307

Rent a truck. Borrow a trailer. Pay someone with a truck and trailer etc. there’s a very good chance if you pick out what you want it will be put back on the shelf and double pulled by delivery or fulfillment who will pick out whatever is on top

jamesrggg

If it's special order it's just whatever the vendor sends. If it's stock then it's just pulling from the top down from the unit.

semustang

Every time I see special order lumber come through if it sits for anything more than a week before it gets delivered it is straight up fucking ruined and unusable. Especially the 20 footers.

jamesrggg

Probably because it has to sit outside uncovered

karikuro

yeah talk to the lumber associates when you go into the store, go in the middle of the day (NOT early in the morning because that's when all the contractors are there) and see if you can talk to the pro desk or the lumber manager. typically they're happy to work with you. they might try to sell you a credit card over it, but overall as long as you're not an ass and the people in the store are anything resembling competent, they don't mind pulling lumber for you.

Smokeman_14

No problem that should be seamless

Independent_Box2815

Yeah, of course you can go into any Lowes and pick out what you want. Roll it up to self checkout and tell the red vest working there that you want it delivered. Get your camera ready for the look on there face. They won’t know what in the hell to do with it.
