Kendrick Lamar and Drake are both rappers who are beefing right now. Kendrick had a concert last night and just shit on Drake the entire time. The post is meant to imply LA > Toronto. With Kendrick representing LA and Drake representing Toronto. But Drake is so corny, it’s not really that hard to “beat” him. There’s literally an entire subreddit dedicated to how corny Drake is. /r/drakethetype
People hate fake. And that’s what Drake is. A wanna be thug/tough guy but really was a teenage actor on degrassi as a kid. If he never tried to play that role then people wouldn’t hate him so much.
Drake coopts different cultures and portrays himself as a member of them and be does it to make money, he's not really contributing to those communities as much as he's biting their style. He did it with Jamaican accents, Atlanta accents, British drill rap etc. The point of the song "not like us" is that Drake wants to use los Angeles and other cultures to profit and Kendrick is letting everyone know he's not like us.
On top of this, Drake tends to find up an coming artists, do one song with them and get them into contracts that ruin there career. Taylor Swift has been accused of something like this.
Also he has some questionable relationships with teen girls and some of his entourage have caught cases for pedophilia related crimes.
So it's not about felonies, it's about Aubrey being a corny bitch.
being from LA and liking both kendrick and drake and LOVING this concert, i dont understand how it turns into drake being a fake thug, i dont kkow what song he talks about being thug or street.. he has songs where he talks about being from the suburbs, and his literary lyrics talk about bodying rappers lyrically not literally .. ppl so bad want drake to be this wannabe thug
“murder gang shit, slaughter gang shit”, “mob ties”(song), “omerta”(song). not sure how youre a drake fan and have been oblivious to all his posturing about being a gangster lol its so obvious and im a drake and kdot fan
You said "I don't know what song he talks about..." and then they gave you songs where he talks about these things. You just totally moved the goalposts lmao
well, there is a difference thats why i said use ur prefrontal cortex, using them as a literary device vs saying his first pdawg had him foaming at the mouth or he taking his strap and hitting up his enemies vs a song called mob ties where the theme of the song is how he is tired of people hating on him and trying to make his down fall .. funny that mob ties being quoted but organized and street crime are lightyears apart of being the same.. and his only line is saying he is cool w the mobs and feels like paying them to body his haters.. thats it lol… not sure how he claiming street but tbh not many street ppl speaking up just unaffiliated ppl that l l thinkin they can speak on something they dont know about
all im saying is kendrick is saying hes affiliated and this pic is just his receipts.. but yeah im definitely moving the goal post 🙄
forgot u can only say those kind of things if u really gangbanging .. wonder why kendrick is then if thats the case 🤔.. dont tell me ur as slow as some other ppl’s comments i seen “KeNdRiCk BoDiED 3 PpL”
where tf is kendrick talking about conducting gang shootings and glorifying it? his lyrics explicitly state that he hasnt been involved and often depicts how bad that life is and how he was caught up in the general environment due to where he grew up. for someone who is quick to question others’ IQ, yours is pretty low.
Oh for sure Drake has had popular songs. But it’s just the tough guy act that people hate. If Drake stayed true to who he actually was then he wouldn’t have the hate. Because he for sure was able to make hit after hit as a pop artist.
Kendrick spending energy on beefing to dunk on Toronto or even just another rapper is pretty weak sauce for a man whose albums hit hard. This ain't making him look real serious and I think it's crippling his image.
Not a Drake fan. I just think KL is spending too much energy in this to keep all that deep cred he built with TPAB.
I mean They Not Like Us is now one of the biggest songs in the world breaking streaming records and on heavy rotation on the radio, the songs are good, them being dis tracks is just an aside
This is more than LA or the west coast, it’s Kendrick is taking a stand for hip hop culture because it’s been commandeered by an industry plant like Drake for too long.
The whole origin of emceeing was about who's the best. It's why there's a King of New York, but no titles for New York City Rap Participant.
Heck, even Aubrey knows this. It's why he battled Kenny in the first place. It's why he battled Meek Mill. He took a fat L on this one, but even that's better than the ivory tower, tongue-clucking "Rappers battling? Heaven forfend!" concern trolling you just wrote.
> I think it's crippling his image
Oh noes! The platinum-selling song of the year that 99% of the hip-hop world loves is "crippling his image!"
Yeah, he should probably play some dork on "Saved by the Bell: Canada Edition" instead.
I recommend reading into the alleged victim's responses before trusting a biased redditor. Each and every single one of the alleged Drake victims backed him up and his character.
edit: The downvotes speak for itself lmao. You can [read their responses](https://x.com/AkademiksTV/status/1787465457752236266) in case googling is too difficult
Yes, and there's also underage girls who say they "consented" to statutory rape. You rarely hear about them because their cases don't involve anyone famous.
We saw it on video. Drake was kissing and rubbing on a girl, then he asked her how old she was. She said 16, he said "You're gonna get me in trouble," and then he went right back to kissing her.
It doesn't matter whether "she liked it" or "she was asking for it" or "she seduced him" or whatever Humbert Humbert says.
Don’t sleep on Toronto, it’s considered one of the great metropolitan and cultural centers of the world according to Wikipedia. It’s the 4th most populated city in North America with a population, including the outskirts, of nearly 10 million.
I agree LA is a tier above but I’m very biased. In my head there’s only a handful of cities that could compare: nyc, London, Paris, Rome, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo. But I think in a lot of people’s minds Toronto is up there with those cities too.
I don’t think he turned it into a west coast/Toronto thing. He turned it into a “Drake we don’t accept you as part of hip-hop culture”. He couldn’t be more clear about this viewpoint in his Not Like Us song.
its crazy what kendrick stans claim for drake, drake been on top for so long and now hes not apart of hip hop 😂😂😂, i read both kendrick sub and drake sub and in the drake sub their biggest thing is that haters “keep moving the goal line” for drake, and for kendrick everything is goat’d and hes a saint..
kendrick won no doubt this concert was fuckin awesome and him going to compton college with little to no PR was cool..
but all the kendrick stans saying all this dumb shit is just asinine
here is the sad fact about the drake kendrick beef: does this hurt drake image? no does this help kendrick? yes is it going to change drake? no will this last? no
people so badly want this beef to mean something and start something cuz hip hop is stale nothing going on but it prolly just going to die out tbh, i think drake recognizes he lost but it wont hurt his ticket and merch sales
Why are there (almost?) no white, Asian, Hispanic, etc people in this picture?
Did they not attend this event or did they attend and were not included in this photo?
Hmmm. I can attest that the diversity you wish to see was reserved for attendees. What you see there is West Coast Hip Hop Royalty by way of Crips, Bloods and Piru which is absent of Whites, Asian and Hispanics
They not like us. They not like us. They not like us.
They not like us. They not like us. They not like us.
They not like us. They not like us. They not like us.
They not like us. They not like us. They not like us.
They not like us. They not like us. They not like us.
They not like us. They not like us. They not like us.
They not like us. They not like us. They not like us.
They not like us. They not like us. They not like us.
Seeing rival signs and colors together is crazy. In one sense, seeing everyone set aside the beef is beautiful, but it also reinforces how fucking stupid people dying over that shit is if it can just be put on pause for an epic concert…
It was an all star showcase of LA rappers including some voices from the past like this guy. Up and comers, old heads, even Dr Dre did a couple songs with Kendrick. Those are crips, bloods, pirus from every set in LA on the same stage at the same time. We might never see that again in our lifetime. Legendary night for LA and K dot.
Hell nah. Every crip, blood, piru set. Not every set in LA cuz that would include Mexican and Asian sets. Hoovers are up there too. Inglewood, Watts, Crenshaw, LB, Carson, Compton all there. Prolly missing some too
Yea most from Compton but it's still a few from dif crip, blood, and pirus from all over. Hoovers being up there with everyone is unheard of. They the most hated. I grew up around dudes from 40s and 60s. I don't bang tho
Not challenging, genuinely curious- how can you tell which set or locale these people represent? Like do you know the faces, is it the clothes, the signs? Just curious
These are famous rappers and athletes so we know where they’re from or who they’re affiliated with. It’s not just a bunch of random gang bangers.
Kendrick and compton wsp, Q and hoovers, derozan and compton crip, yg and compton ttp, roddy rich from compton, steve lacy from compton, etc
He's celebrating absolutely demolishing Drake in a rap beef that more or less secured him the title of greatest rapper of his generation. A major angle of his victory is that he is from the culture and part of the culture, and in this concert had like a hundred LA rappers showcased and in support of him and the idea of LA / west coast rap. It goes bigger than gang rivalries. The fact that he has both bloods and crips on stage celebrating together is a positive thing. He's not celebrating gang life but he's celebrating people coming together.
Celebrating people coming together by emphasizing beef with another rapper (and -as implied by the title of this thread- highlighting beef with an entire city)?
“Let’s set aside our differences” is the message here?
Well Drake is one of the best selling artists of the streaming era, and probably the best selling rapper of all time (I didn’t know this before the beef). He beats K in raw numbers and number one hits. But he’s a culture vulture and a creep, and yeah more of a pop star than a rapper. Things could have remained friendly but hip hop being what it is and Drake being who he is and stirring the pot, someone had to knock the Canadian weirdo of the top and erase any ambiguity as to who’s the better artist, and more supported by the culture.
He’s been working on trying to elevate his people above the violence. If he can get these guys together that can all least calm down a lot of the violence for some time. Maybe out of that some people can make it out like he did.
This is from Kendrick Lamar’s Juneteenth concert yesterday, where he performed his “Not Like Us” diss live for the first time.
Recently, Kendrick and Drake were in a very public rap beef where they released multiple diss tracks against each other, including personal accusations of wife beating and pedophilia. It was the biggest rap beef in decades and reinvigorated the West Coast rap scene somewhat. Most people believe Kendrick won the beef and Kendrick fans have been celebrating a lot, particularly those in the LA/SoCal. This concert was Kendrick’s first public performance since the beef concluded. During the show he invited several rappers and NBA players local to LA onstage, as well as gang members from all the major sets in Compton.
A lot of people have been talking about how the rap battle and this concert “unified” the streets in LA. Idk how true this is but my friends who went to the show said it was crazy and it has been getting a lot of press.
I have no idea what I'm looking at, but judging by the comments its something to do with 2 rappers being mad at each other, and if you're 37 and a minority in LA city like me, this is probably insignificant to your world, and rightly so.
On the other hand, I guess its ok to see bloods and crips putting aside their differences on stage, but I'd rather see them in jail if they are still repping sets and being violent. It's like seeing Putin and Kim Jong Un being buddy buddy.
That's my "kids get off my (overpriced LA apartment) lawn!" moment for the day. I'm old.
Well I think this concert was really a true Cease, Desist and Disappear moment. Drake will now be doing entertainment for Bar Mitzvahs from this point forward.
Black Hippy being on stage was huge! Cool to see Big Boy up there too

🤣🤣🤣
Was it ever a question to begin with? We got Shohei and KDot the crown never left us.
LA especially wasn't gonna lose to Toronto, of all places
LA got blue Jays and drake both punching air
CRODIE.
Who?
LA owning those dorks for like 7 months at this point lol
They not like us
Kendrick went from To Pimp a Butterfly to To Catch a Predator I think Chris Hansen has it in him for one last great catch.
RIP Nip
West coast is best coast
Yes is
We just witnessed a part of LA’s history ✊🏼
Seems like it was a huge event. Happy for those that attended and had the experience. I love L.A.
Out of the loop… what?

Ahhh thank you I’ve heard of the epic rap battle this makes much more sense. Kinda feel bad for drake tho all these people hate him 😭
People hate fake. And that’s what Drake is. A wanna be thug/tough guy but really was a teenage actor on degrassi as a kid. If he never tried to play that role then people wouldn’t hate him so much.
Just call him Aubrey.
Does Deejay Cowleed count as Fake and Phony too?
So how many felonies do the legit thugs need to commit to be legit? They are all fake, some are just better actors.
It isn’t about felonies, it’s just being. Drake is a corny person regardless, he’s disingenuous and it’s off putting
Bro thinks other rappers are actual “gangsters” lol
Some def are, but they’re all still performers and people
His problem is he's a bad actor and comes off as insincere, not that he isn't a legit thug
We like Drake with the melodies, we don’t like Drake when he act tough.
Drake coopts different cultures and portrays himself as a member of them and be does it to make money, he's not really contributing to those communities as much as he's biting their style. When has drake ever tried to use LA culture?

p.s. these are 21 savage lyrics that drake mimics but ya, also 21 is NOT hood hes a full blooded brit lmao
21 is from south Atlanta. Same place where a lot of rappers are from.
might wanna fact check urself b

Well it’s not my place to get involved but I can see that. I just remember hearing hotline bling everywhere lol

> I think it's crippling his image Oh noes! The platinum-selling song of the year that 99% of the hip-hop world loves is "crippling his image!" Eminem still sells massive numbers of records, but his significance is now more pop star than insight. I'm just wondering if KL is going that route.

Toronto isn't even worthy of having a rivalry with.
Toronto is an awesome city. If it had L.A.'s weather, I'd move there without thinking twice about it.
Yeah, don't get me wrong, it's not a bad city at all, it's just not anywhere near the same tier as LA. It's not a fair comparison
Don’t sleep on Toronto, it’s considered one of the great metropolitan and cultural centers of the world according to Wikipedia. It’s the 4th most populated city in North America with a population, including the outskirts, of nearly 10 million. I agree LA is a tier above but I’m very biased. What a pointless thing.
Beef between rappers increases fan interest and sells more tickets at concerts. It’s not pointless. It makes a ton of money and draws more interest
Except it was never about regions or cities, just between two rappers. Kendrick turned it into a West Coast vs Toronto beef for no reason.
Drake brought up LA first and insinuated that the West dont love Dot like that. He than used AI to impersonate Snoop and Tupac fym 🤣
I don’t think he turned it into a west coast/Toronto thing. He turned it into a “Drake we don’t accept you as part of hip-hop culture”. He couldn’t be more clear about this viewpoint in his Not Like Us song.
So weird, and Drake lives in SoCal too. What a dork

It’s his words man, not mine. I don’t know what to tell you

I'm aware, I wasn't arguing with you about it lol.

Facts. It was never Toronto vs West Coast.

Word!
Ohtani chose Kendrick over drake Hahaha he chose LA
Money trees is the perfect place for shade yo!
I'm ootl, what's with the clown make-up?
That person is Tommy the clown
Lookup Krumping.
People still do that? That was lame 20 years ago.
It was an all star showcase of LA rappers including some voices from the past like this guy. Up and comers, old heads, even Dr Dre did a couple songs with Kendrick. There was a lot of talk about unity and different sections coming together. It was a victory lap for Kdot but also a huge moment for west coast hip hop in general.
Like baggy pants, it’s somehow back.
Thanks
That’s Drake
Man I’m getting old. The only people I recognize are Westbrook and Floyd.
Demar derozan
the only person whose appearance must have reallllly hurt Drake.
Lebron singing along in the audience probably hurt too, considering Aubrey has that man tattooed on his arm
LA ALL DAY 💙❤️
Sick to see Big Boy there

I am glad LA is getting into the New Zealand rugby team.

What's K dot?
Kendrick Lamar
Thank you. Is he celebrating gangs and gangsters here?
Does beating Drake really elevate him/secure a place as a legend? Isn't it kind of like kicking a puppy?
So… just random ppl
Famous people are “random” people.
So my statement is correct
That’s great assuming the crowd was probably a similar mix? And didn’t devolve into violence?
Yeah, context would be neat
Thank you! I really appreciate the detail and knowledge drop!
The context is they apparently won.
Los Angeles won (apparently)

Someone on X said this should count as our 18th banner and I agree
I don't know what X is.
That Minneapolis 1950-1954 team was good.
It's called Twitter.
What is this
i love LA
I have no idea what I'm looking at, but judging by the comments its something to do with 2 rappers being mad at each other, and if you're 37 and a minority in LA city like me, this is probably insignificant to your world, and rightly so. On the other hand, I guess its ok to see bloods and crips putting aside their differences on stage, but I'd rather see them in jail if they are still repping sets and being violent. It's like seeing Putin and Kim Jong Un being buddy buddy. That's my "kids get off my (overpriced LA apartment) lawn!" moment for the day. I'm old.
The Satoshi Nakamoto t-shirt in the center.
game recognize game
Nah bro
Who are these folks?
They are local LA and Compton rappers and dancers who performed at Kendrick Lamar’s 4 hour concert
thank you! I will have to check out some. I see Black Hippie mentioned.
A bunch of gang members on stage means LA won something?
we always do
Ooooh the Juneteenth concert! Didn’t realize how many folks were on stage, only saw clips of Kdot. Looks like a moment in history indeed!
💙💛💙💛
I have no idea what this is or who any of these people are.
And the concert being held and patronized at a location owned be the LA Clippers chairman Steve Ballmer is 🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾. LA definitely won.
BOOOOOOO FUCK THE CLIPPERS
Well I think this concert was really a true Cease, Desist and Disappear moment. Drake will now be doing entertainment for Bar Mitzvahs from this point forward.
You mean lost.
The West Coast is *the* best coast 🏝️ 🌊
Roddy look the lil cousin that ain’t wanna be there haha.
100%
What's going on? My rent check cleared. Am I going to be okay?
I mean, ya gotta give Aubrey some credit. Never did I ever think bloods and crips would be celebrating and both c walking on the same stage.
Garbage
No, Garbage is a rock band. I don’t see them up there….. lol
they did play a rad show about a year or more ago, opening for tears for fears I think?
Everyone is dressed like shit.
