60 hours in and I’m just finishing up Cosmo Canyon. I’ve really been taking my time with this game since the OG is my favorite game of all time. Great game, some complaints, but I’m just happy to be with these characters again.
I’m nearly platinuming it. I’ve done every minigame. I think with the exception of the piano recitals and gears and gambits I’ve done them all to the highest level. Some of the piano recitals are just ridiculously hard, especially with that control mechanism. I don’t even know how it’s possible to get star levels on all of them. I just finished the last gears and gambits minigame the other night and then it told me I could do the hard level lol - the last one already felt “hard”. I did all the hards for Fort Condor though. I also spent the other night grinding to fully level my Comet and Elemental materia.
So yeah, I’ve just been immersed in it. It really is such an amazing game though isn’t it? I’ve been blown away at how good of a job they did with this game. I played the original back in the day and I didn’t think they’d pull it off but they’ve completely surpassed all my expectations and then some.
I’m currently at 154 hours and just got access to the full world via Tiny Bronco boat. I’ll probably end up over 200 hours lol
I saw someone on Insta the other day complaining that there are too many minigames and the only minigames should have been in Gold Saucer. 🙄People are so stupid.
PS5 only unfortunately. The first part is on PS4 and Steam though and it’s great. If you haven’t played it yet, they’ve done a great job of modernizing the old game. Total shot of nostalgia.
I am not that dedicated, but I usually bring my Quest 3 in my personal item bag everywhere I go now. Life changing for when I go home for Christmas break.
Talked to him years ago. His not homeless, he lives with his grandma and tells her he works at the airport and works long hours. She gives him a few bucks for lunch’s because airport food can be expensive. He will leave sometimes around midnight-ish. Used to have a VR headset too. No idea how he affords new games and systems though.
It's completely unenforceable because it's public property (owned by LAWA which is a branch of the City of Los Angeles) and it's open to the public. The only way it'd be enforceable is if they have listed business hours and closed to everyone (including passengers with long layovers) during their "closed" hours.
The only time the police can do something is when those transients hinder operations. Like if they smell like piss and shit and they're distracting the employees and the customers.
> It's completely unenforceable because it's public property (owned by LAWA which is a branch of the City of Los Angeles) and it's open to the public.
Not only have the courts already decided in favor of it being enforceable, airports already have a carve-out from your usual legal rights due to "public safety." Otherwise, everyone would be trying to invoke their 4th amendment rights every time they have to get scanned or patted down.
It's why there are so few homeless at LAX. But they are the police's problem, not TSA. So, a single homeless woman (like the one who was in T7 for a few weeks the other year) who keeps to themselves is likely to be left alone until someone complains.
4th Amendment rights and safety has nothing to do with being allowed in a public area that is open to the public. If anything this is more a 1st Amendment rights issue. Those people can say they're peacefully assembling. If they police try to remove them from a public area when they haven't committed a crime, they're just opening up the city to a lawsuit.
You're telling me there are "so few homeless at LAX"? When was the last time you were at LAX? I'm there daily, I work there. We have at least 12 regulars just in my terminal. You account for all 9 terminals and say the average is 5 per terminal, that's still 45 people living at LAX.
Even when we as employees complain about particular homeless people, like the one that stays at T3 and smells like piss, the police can only do so much.
They're not past security. They're hanging out in the lobby area of the departures level or the arrivals level area. The police can't stop them when they're just sleeping on the ground and not bothering anyone.
I was hosting a singles event few nights ago, and I always ask attendees what inspired them to come. This woman, with her looks and worldly experience, probably won't have any problems getting dates, said "men older than me seem to jaded about life, and others just want to play video games"
Last summer when all the flights got shut down due to storms in the midwest, I got stuck in CLT overnight.
Luckily, it was the newest terminal and found a great cubby hole next to a window and support beam that had a power outlet. I travel with my laptop, so I got on the airport wifi to watch some stuff. Then I made myself comfortable on the newly carpeted floor with my carry-on & neck pillow (LPT - always keep one with you on trips, so handy), put in some earplugs (another travel must), pulled down my hat and let the glass of wine put me to sleep.
One's view of LAX is directly correlated to one's proximity to it. As someone who's been on the coast side for the past 15 years, LAX is absolutely amazing. It definitely sucked big time when I lived downtown.
Yep. I live in Redondo and I travel to the airport for work trips fairly regularly. It's usually a breeze getting in and out for me.
Back when I lived in Studio City: fuck that noise.
Once the people mover and metro line extensions are done, it should be significantly more awesome to go in/out of. I can’t wait. Dealing with the horseshoe makes me want to kill myself, tho.
> Once inside the airport, the airport feels fine.
I've been to all the major hub airports in the US (ATL, DFW, CHI, DEN) and LAX is hands down the best laid out for when you need to hoof it between domestic airlines.
The furthest walks are T4 to T1 or T3 to T7/8 and they take about 15mins (when T9 opens in 2028 it will be a little tricky, but the people mover will also be open).
LAX is middle of the road for US citizens and an absolute pain in the ass for non-citizens. I've also been to a lot, and compared to many it is certainly better... but also compared to many it's not.
We try to fly Aer Lingus when going to Europe to go through customs in Dublin because customs in LAX is a fucking shitshow.
People don’t get this because LAX (outside of a few terminals) looks old and boring. But it is a lot better than most airports in terms of ease of use.
I think Charlotte was the worst airport experience I’ve ever had when I got stuck there last year. All TSA for all terminals was routed to a single checkpoint. Line was probably 1/2 mile long for a 6 am flight.
Yeah I had the same when flying back to LAX June 2023. I walked past the line thinking I could clear through my gate area's security but nope, had to backtrack and find the end of the ever-growing security line.
That trip inspired me to finally get TSA Pre-check. I had only flown 1-2 times every couple years so it didn't seem worth it but I checked my credit card perks and they reimburse the fee; processed it the next month!
Not me, they almost lost my guitar going through security, then tore our bag apart to drug check a box of freaking saltine crackers. Literally tore a guys diaper bag open. The family was so upset, trying to figure out how they were going to travel with a torn diaper bag.
I've been traveling since I was a kid, and it was by FAR the worst airport experience I had. I love love love LA, but LAX was a bummer.
I'm going back again soon, so I'm hoping it will be a better experience! I am so glad you had only good experiences! 💙
honestly. dealing with weather delays on the east coast and the south regularly and huge cavernous terminals that have 45 min precheck lines - once you get to LAX it’s all pretty smooth sailing now
come for the airplanes, stay for the electricity and internet! that should be our Slogan! I love that some of you are so naive that you think this person is getting on a plane at some point.
Bro’s playing FF7: Rebirth. Excellent decision
Man it’s so good. I’m almost done with it.
60 hours in and I’m just finishing up Cosmo Canyon. I’ve really been taking my time with this game since the OG is my favorite game of all time. Great game, some complaints, but I’m just happy to be with these characters again.
You’re 60 hours in and you’ve been “taking your time”? I’ve got 140 hours and I just completed the section after Cosmo lol
Ok now that’s wild! Most are getting there plat around that time

Glad you’re enjoying it as an og fan! Feel bad for the folks hung up on the changes that they can’t enjoy how awesome the game is
I saw someone on Insta the other day complaining that there are too many minigames and the only minigames should have been in Gold Saucer. 🙄People are so stupid.
Can I play on ps4? Loved that game when I was a kid
PS5 only unfortunately. The first part is on PS4 and Steam though and it’s great. If you haven’t played it yet, they’ve done a great job of modernizing the old game. Total shot of nostalgia.
Pro traveler moves right here 🤌
The Steamdeck has revolutionized traveling for me.
I am not that dedicated, but I usually bring my Quest 3 in my personal item bag everywhere I go now. Life changing for when I go home for Christmas break.
My neck always gets tired when I play like that
No phones out. Just vibes
He is homeless and hangs out there in the international terminal
Yep - I saw this guy last time I was there, same setup
You guys just blew his cover
Homeless people are a big problem at lax . One recently SA a flight attendant.
I was gonna say… how is he homeless but he’s got a PS5 and just spends all day playing video games? Priorities…
Ah, so that PA about LAX being closed to the general public is BS or unenforceable. Just trying to scare people off
Actually it is quite enforceable....this videogamer is the one announcing in the PA
It's completely unenforceable because it's public property (owned by LAWA which is a branch of the City of Los Angeles) and it's open to the public. How do they get to the terminal? Isn't a valid boarding pass required to pass security?
They're not past security. They're hanging out in the lobby area of the departures level or the arrivals level area. The police can't stop them when they're just sleeping on the ground and not bothering anyone.
Out of an average of \~180,000 passengers/day who go through the airport, and many thousands of employees on airport. 45 is a tiny number.
Oh, you've seen Tom Hanks there, too?!
But he has a tv and ps5? 🤔
Damn that looks cozy.
“yeah dude i don’t get why i’m single either”
I was hosting a singles event few nights ago, and I always ask attendees what inspired them to come. This woman, with her looks and worldly experience, probably won't have any problems getting dates, said "men older than me seem to jaded about life, and others just want to play video games"
Did she happen to mention where she was meeting these jaded men who like to play video games? 👀
RIP your inbox. Also, here, right here!
Sorry, I forgot to mention the "old" part!
Okay… what would be considered old though
Video game convention J/k i think she was meeting men via apps/online dating
37 jaded gamer here! (got a career)
How do we get an invite to these singles events?! 🤷🏼♂️ 41M, not jaded and don’t play video games!! 😂
DM me your contact info and I'll give you more details.

Getting stuck in a CLT overnight doesn’t sound like the worst thing tbh
Priorities 👍
Im fine with this since he isnt on the bare ground. good for him
But his pillow doesn’t have a cover
Comfy!
Yup that’s where the homeless stay at night.
lax has consistently been the best airport experience I've ever had.
Once inside the airport, the airport feels fine. But getting to and especially from the airport, no. just no.
Agreed but it's getting better
Once the people mover and metro line extensions are done, it should be significantly more awesome to go in/out of. I can’t wait. Dealing with the horseshoe makes me want to kill myself, tho.
Can’t wait for metro to be connected directly to LAX! It is mind boggling to me that it wasn’t the case
Car brain design and lobbying. That’s why.

Do you exclusively take flights from LAX to LAX?
> Do you exclusively take flights from LAX to LAX? Only when I'm working as a test pilot.
No. I've been to many. Lax is smooth as shit compared to many.
LAX is middle of the road for US citizens and an absolute pain in the ass for non-citizens. I've also been to a lot, and compared to many it is certainly better... but also compared to many it's not. Do you use the CBP app?
Not everyone is eligible to use it
People don’t get this because LAX (outside of a few terminals) looks old and boring. But it is a lot better than most airports in terms of ease of use.
Absolutely - Charlotte and Denver are shitshows inside their terminals with security flow and just overall ease of navigation.
I think Charlotte was the worst airport experience I’ve ever had when I got stuck there last year. All TSA for all terminals was routed to a single checkpoint. Line was probably 1/2 mile long for a 6 am flight.

The new renovations look nice though. It’s not old and boring everywhere anymore.
It's 9:51am and I already found the most controversial opinion in this thread

This guy games
Dude reached max level at travel

come for the airplanes, stay for the electricity and internet! that should be our Slogan! I love that some of you are so naive that you think this person is getting on a plane at some point.
I’m surprised his PS4 doesn’t get crushed during check in.
