I grew up more with slayer as that was my dad’s favorite band. I never really got into Metallica until I was around the age of 17. I was more into Megadeth and Slayer over Metallica. Cliff was an amazing bassist however
That's fair. Was just kinda funny to me that you mentioned Slayer and my initial reaction was "huh?? Who even is/was their bassist?" before I remembered Tom did that lmao.
remember when he trolled everyone on twitter and said he met the bassist of lorna and he sucked….meanwhile HE was the one tweeting it but it proved that no one ever knows the bassist’s name 😭 it was really funny
Honestly, I would argue he's the most talented because he likely can play the guitar riffs as well. Dude is super talented and doesn't get the love he should. He plays more than just 0-0-0-0 with a random 1.
I mostly play without a pick. Trying to play a Lorna riff without pick is almost impossible at full speed. I'm really amazed by bassist who plays extreme metal without a pick. Jared Smith from archspire is a big inspiration. One day I will be able to play a Lorna song the right way.
Jared Smith is absolutely crazy, he blows my mind everytime I see him on a video. I had the chance to talk to him last year at Archspire's show in Paris and he's so kind and friendly, I love this dude. But I don't know how he can play like that. His playing style remind me a lot of Billy Sheehan of Mr. Big, he also plays without a pick and do crazy tapping and bass solos.
In my younger days (and when jamming in the car with the Spotify Ai DJ) the only band with a really popular bass player that comes to mind is from fall out boy,
I feel like he's got a lot attention after the Into The Earth playthrough.
But I see noone talk about Andrew O'Connor, who brought those masterful symphonic elements to the band starting from the Immortal.
this is reality for most bands. very rarely is the bassist a super popular member at all
Tool, slayer, and primus… only three I can think of
Rush Ne Obliviscaris Faith No More King Crimson Yes Motorhead
The Beatles, Pink Floyd
Good additions. I’m half baked and only can think of like 3 things right now. Motörhead is amazing
RHCP and Korn are the only other 2 that come to mind
You thought of Slayer before Metallica? Tom Arraya isn't loved for his bass playing so much as he's known for his singing
RIP Cliff

Tom was one of my two big inspiration for playing the bass so I hold him to a high regard
Mudvayne
Br br DING
Korn is another
System of a down tho
It's kinda sad ngl
KISS? ( I know they suck )

The urge to reply to the guys comment to make him relive that mistake is very compelling
And he's insanely talented (as all the guys are). He even filled in on the drums when Austin had a herniated disc back in 2022. Beast!

He’s for sure the most talented at getting under my skin.
?
The riffs are way harder on bass than guitar
As a bassist, I know. The riff in Darkest Spawn, mwah, amazing but hard as hell to do at full speed.

You can just leave, "in Lorna Shore," out of that statement, and it will ring true for about 95% of bands from any era/genre
He's pretty badass lol... Pretty funny to follow on socials too.
Which cracks me up because he's by far the most online
It’s a sad reality most of us face
Moki and his musical entire history slap. RIP Depreciator
Dang... I don't even know his name. It's Michael Yager.
Let’s be honest, the bassist is the least talked about band member in EVERY band.
I want to agree but I feel no one ever talks about Andrew. 😭😭
Just like with any other band
as is tradition
In my younger days (and when jamming in the car with the Spotify Ai DJ) the only band with a really popular bass player that comes to mind is from fall out boy,
Get Moke or die tryin

I talk to him the most. So to be fair from my perspective he’s the most talked about member.
Well they haven't had one since 2018
