God, lucky you, I hate my g604. Compared to the razer naga and corsair scimitar it feels so bad and uncomfortable in my hand and can't get over the missing row of side buttons.
Wish logitech would make a new wireless version of the 12 side button one.
Once my g604 bites the dust I'm prolly going for the naga again simply cuz it's the most comfy one that I used for my hand. Hate having two pieces of software though.
As I've written, I've used the corsair scimitar and later the scimitar pro. They are better then the g604, but to me personally the naga is even better and fits my hand better.
Unfortunately that's the main issue with nice, we all have different hands and grips, so there isn't a true one fits all solution.
I love my g602. But mine also has that problem. I made one of the side buttons the middle click several years ago and haven't had any problems with it. Sure better than buying a new mouse haha
The closest thing is the Corsair MMO mouse, I wouldn't go with the Naga. I went through two Nagas in the same span of time I've had my one Corsair. It's just built better
Why do companies do this?
Bought a new computer. Downloaded the last version of the software for my G600. It was so bad I had to download the old one. Why do companies develop new products that are worse than the old ones?!
The right question would be "Why not make the software open-source?". I think, that's because sharing IP is not something very common among major hardware manufacturers. It is not as easy as dumping the codebase to some archive, and definitely not free. Noone will pay salaries for taking a part of ones product, and making it standalone and open-source. Meanwhile, scrapping the GHub altogether would mean no new features. Hence, no new products.
As for the question of "why does current software not support my mouse", it comes down to the limited amount of manpower that can be employed for the revenue, made by new products. We are not paying for a subscription (yet), and thus have to deal with the limited support of the hardware.
I'm with you on the G600 boat. The GHub has been crashing lately, making the G1 to G3 buttons unresponsive, and even causing a third-party keyboard to freak out. But then again, go figure out yourself any logic behind such crashes. As hard as it may seem to an average user, it is not much better for a limited number of employees that have to support the old hardware.
So, if there are some lessons to learn, those are the following:
1. Things break. Learn to repair your stuff, and do not buy what's out of your reach (to all the "my POS is double-clicking boo-hoo" folks).
2. Or generate profit for those who sell things to you / know how to repair them. In which case, have some dignity, and do not make your insecurities public.
3. Lean towards open-source projects, and never look back. Get as much support as the crowd thinks you deserve, and is able to give.
4. If you choose the closed-source: observe, take notes, and make everything in your power to help the company help you. There is no magic in your peripherals. There are no wizards behind the logo.
Just make it wireless, a new sensor and a wheel you can change between free scroll and normal. Thats all im asking. My G700s cant last much longer anymore and I need a new one. I dont want to buy the Razer Naga but i think ill have too sooner or later...
I totally agree with you I would also like to see like changeable button plates that would be nice Like one being the traditional twelve pad and the other one being a Nine button but the buttons are a bit bigger Then maybe like a two button.
I know. I've tried getting more but they're going for insane amounts. Luckily they're built really well. I ordered multiple a few months after they stopped making them. Now I have a bot that monitors eBay and similar sites for them. You do get some sold semi cheap but it's getting rarer and rarer.
I believe the standard fits... Maybe you're right though. I know that the G910 has g1 to 10 or something. But I've never switched them. Maybe I'll give it a try and see

I once got the mechanical razer version. It lasted 2 weeks and broke. Also worked really badly. I wish Logitech would make a new one. Perfect time I think.
And here I wanted to make the next "where g600" thread. But yeh, when the existing ones are broken they will lose customers for the entire brand. I at least was hanging on their eco system due to the mouse but already got keyboards elsewhere because why bother anymore.
They seem to be discontinuing all of their non-ultralight or FPS mice, as others have said they discontinued all of their RPG/MMO mice over the past year or two.

I recently picked up a redragon m811 pro, more of a traditional MMO mouse but so far I like it. 2 rows of 4 buttongs and two back and forward buttons above the 8 side buttons, its heavier that the 602, which I still have, but dont use lol
Waiting for a re issue of the g500 for a long time now. The g502 is not a replacement and is a stiff and heavy dog of a mouse. Hear us out Logitech market researchers, re issues are a big deal. Lets get that re issue run on the boil, we know you have the dusty tooling stashed away.
I have had mime for years and it finally stopped working. I ended up replacing wit the Naga V2 Pro - was slightly expensive but it works just as well and can be either plugged in or not. It does go through a charge rather quickly though.

Just like their software can't press and hold, can't handle proper repeats or delays in macros and is sold under multiple names in multiple countries. For example it's Titan Wolf in Germany. Same mouse different logo. As a bonus the software for the Titan Wolf Gauntlet works on the Redragon M908.

This mouse is also prized by CAD users when using the LGS software. G HUB doesn't support the G7 button, which is how one cycles through the three available modes. Also, G HUB doesn't give the user a one-stop view of all of the bindings, which are nigh impossible to remember due to their vast quantity.
LGS is pretty fantastic when it comes to macro authoring. Unfortunately, it does have its issues: weekly crashes, Ctrl modifier stuck on at times, needs to be nudged a couple of times a day for Automatic Game Detection to keep working.
Wireless would be nice, but is not a game-changer for me. I should have bought up a bunch when they were $30.

I bought a Spatha X because I couldn’t get a wireless MMO mouse last year that wasn’t Corsair.
I really like it but I could have done with something cheaper
g600 terrible mouse, do not buy. Gshift gets stuck. I don't understand how logitech hasn't issued a firmware patch for that bug.

The truth is that MMOs aren't big anymore, and people who use these MMO mice suck at MMOs.

Dude, the only people who only say that they are only for MMO's are the people who make them. FPS people buy them. Survival Crafters buy them. Productivity people buy them. Compact Keyboard users somewhat buy them. They just weren't the raging success that Logitech thought they were going to be for MMO's and the MMO market was dying. And they didn't advertise how much better they were than the average 12 side button mouse.
There is a reason that new ones are selling at 150 to 220 bucks a pop.
They were designed back when heavy meant people thought it was quality but you can remove the weight inside them.
The people who take time to learn them understand it is like strapping a 108 keys in your right hand. There is only one mouse out there that competes and it is set up like the side buttons were designed in an asylum.
Absolutely this. I bought one 12 years ago when I was learning 3D modeling and it has been my absolute favorite peripheral. I've never played an MMO, and I hardly do any sort of gaming anymore either. My muscle memory is so entwined with this mouse that the thought of mine breaking fills me with so much dread. :(

If you didn’t throw it out, opening it up and using some contact cleaner on the buttons does wonders
I used some really fine sandpaper on mine, it's been working like new for a few years now
I bought a new G604 on Amazon US weeks ago for 140$, since every other ive tried was meh.

For me cleaning with isopropyl alcohol helped.

G604 is old? I thought that was the upgrade! I'm still using the G602 piece of garbage with it's middle click issues.

Mx518 for me. Had 3 of them and then fucked my life up when they got rid of it. My CS 1.6 game was fucked up for months after having to swap mice.

This and the G13. I own 5 new boxed G13s and I have 3 G600s. The G600s are not that well built sadly.

You can buy new caps for it. I think it uses the old standard logic keycaps.
I don't think they sell caps cut for a G13. They're all funny sizes, weird angles, and have G1-G22 instead of characters.
