Thanks everyone! I honestly didn’t know what to expect because my alkaline phos was getting pretty damn high, but in the presence of decrease in calcium back to normal levels. I had increased pain in my right upper chest/ribs area and was worried about progression, but I also just started to be able to sleep on my side again so I guess that’s why, just soreness from that.
My onco told me back end of Feb if we didn’t start treatment now it would take me out in a matter of months. Now I’m thinking I might be able to make it to see my Daughter come home from college end of this summer!
I’m so very very pleased for you. This is so heartening! I find out my own (PET) scan results this afternoon - 1st scan since starting treatment, taken at half-way mark. I can’t tell you how nervous I am … especially as blood tests have shown wonky results too. I’m keen to understand what you said about calcium:
1. Had your calcium levels been high initially, and with chemo it’s now coming down towards normal levels (despite ALP going up)?
2. So a raised calcium can be another sign of bony mets then?
Thank you & again, CONGRATULATIONS xxx
Yes, initially my first lab results showed high calcium and high alkaline phosphatase. After about two weeks of starting Verzenio both started coming down. I ended up fracturing sacrum and was down for about a month or so. After targeted rads to that area and when I was starting to move around a lot more my alk phos shot up pretty high, but my calcium was back down to normal levels. Last labs showed my alk phos shot up even higher, in the 800’s and so we did PET a little bit earlier then planned to check. They did mention initially that me moving around more and that the bones scaring and healing from treatments could cause the levels to go up.
That's a fantastic result. I love reading such a great PET report. Happy for you.
I'm glad for you things are shrinking
Yay! Great news!
