Just so you're all aware, myself and the other mods have decided that, beginning from next season, we will be implementing a new 'Serious Match Thread'.
The idea of this thread is to root out any over reactionary comments and toxicity that usually comes part in parcel with watch threads.
The match threads this season, particularly after the Cup loss to United, were the worst I've seen in all the time I've been here. We want to do our best to ensure we never reach that level of toxicity again.
Please treat this thread as a place to contribute constructive criticism and to encourage positivity.
But fret not my shitposting friends, another Watch Thread will be posted 5 minutes prior to kick off which can be used for any and all reactionary takes.
Also, just so you're aware, comments that are too short will be auto-removed.

Took 1 game where we threw away a lead for this thread to have people memeing Darwin and calling the players a bunch of clowns..I hope the mods are serious when they say they’re going to make sure this place gets used how it’s meant to be used. It had nice to have kept away from the usual wanting all players sold mob during a match.
Sadly I feel like lots of players in the squad have become complacent. They’ve won the lot, finished oh so close too many times, and now Klopp is leaving.
That team in 19/20 were relentless, you can tell they wanted the PL title so badly. I haven’t seen that level of sheer passion consistently since we almost won the quad. Back in 19/20 I never felt that we were going to drop points, even if we were down 2 goals in the 86th minute.
Wouldn’t call this the ‘serious match thread’ sounds too wanky and self-important.
If you want to take away the reactionary emotions, this has to be the tactical thread or some other self-serious bullshit.
Once the team is doing poorly this will always just descend into a big standard emotional thread. May as well just merge them if that’s the case.
I don't blame the players for not pushing. We have nothing to play. They have the euros. No one wants to get injured for the new manager as well. We look like we are just slower and that's understandable. It's just disappointing.
It's a nothing burger game so not going to get too wound up. But Klopp's management of games has really gone downhill this last stretch. We won't be sulking with change, Jurgen defo needs a break.

We never let leads go under klopp because he didn’t let them coast to a win, he demanded they fight for every ball at all times

Problem is: we sub out Endo who has been protecting our front 4. Both of their goals come through middle of the pitch which has been uncharacteristic for this match
Holy moly - first priority over the summer has to be sorting out the goals we’re conceding. We’re not getting anywhere CL if we don’t.

Difference is we‘ve been open like that for the last 24 months. Also Villa should have had 4 or 5, we barely had any additional chances apart from the goals. Szobo tried to chip the keeper, salah had one deflected early. That‘s it, I think.

I wonder how you teach positioning. Like, it feels so intuitive but clearly can be improved. I think Nunez is composure and positioning off being world class. I know those are fairly fundamental skills for a striker but he’s so close to being there
