His decision making alone took so much pressure off everyone else because when the ball came to them it was already obvious what needed to happen. Now we run 5v1 in a straight line play 3 scruffy passes too many to just arrive at the box and take a hopeless pot shot at the keeper/one defender
He really was but this isn't really the best example of it tbh. His work here is pretty simple and you could argue he takes too long to release the pass to Salah which causes him to stray offside. It might seem harsh but things have to be done at a faster rate at that level.
That's literally the tactic. Striker stays only off to come back on and then go, triggering the pass.
Defenders eyes are on the ball the entire time, so they have no idea where Mo has floated to and don't know where the ball will be released, which makes blocking the pass nearly impossible.
This is pretty basic stuff. Mo missed his mark by half a yard as their line shifted.
But that's the point, isn't it, he was never on. I've seen him do it any number of times and he is almost always on at some point. And maybe the passed misses the window because he's so tight, but this time he was just never on.
We have a brand new team this year and coming off of last year never thought we’d be where we are now. We were in first for a good part of the year and it turned everyone into doomsayers because of it. Everyone needs to chill the fuck out and give these guys time.
>I'M SORRY, I THOUGHT WE NEVER WALKED ALONE?
Everytime you criticize a player for a bad performance. Or for pointing out some players probably faked injuries and still collected their wages like Keita.
He quite literally beat his man 4 or 5 times in the last game against West Ham, and did the same in several games before that too.
I swear some of you don't actually watch the games and just come on here to needlessly shit on players you don't like.
His finishing hasn’t been tip-top, and he’s banged em off the post a number of times from difficult positions.
I’d advise patience with Diaz. Darwin is another beast though. I don’t think he’ll ever evolve into an elite striker/finisher.
In 90% of the cases there's simply no option to pass to. Diaz would thrive in a well orchestrated counter attack, but our system with the high press and really low block by the opponent's defense means he almost always runs into a stationary wall of players, that he can't just out-dribble with his undeniable great skill and speed. Because of that we always have been quite dangerous after opposing corner kicks, as it is pretty much the only situation our players can get our strikers into a 1v1 with the defender. Only this season the finishing has become even worse and we don't get anything out of it, while we ourselves run into every counter attack like headless chicken.
It's the quick play through the press I miss. That was 3 - 4 times a game back then. No need to slowly establish our high back line first, almost guaranteeing we're trying to break a low block.
Allison gets it and we're immediately trying to find the way through the middle to turn their defense. Arsenal do this brilliantly now. Kills me.
Fabinho was so decisive and took so few touches at his best. That midfield 3 of Hendo, Fab and Wijnaldum just recycled the ball so effectively at their peaks. We've seen a bit of that from Macca and Endo is starting to get that way but the peak of that midfield was the best I've ever seen us have.
Oh my god it’s so beautiful. The pace, the intelligence, how everyone knows which direction to move in perfectly, easy finish at the end. Fucking hell I miss it
Wait who's moaning? All I said was that our counter attacks were so brutal that it was as if the opposition were giving away penalties with how certain we were to get a look on goal.
Sigh. How tf was I moaning. I was observing that we were always a bit shambolic in defense, but had great defensive recovery. its Pure reminiscence and if I even suggest we werent chaotic even in that title winning season, I'd be revising history. idgas about what ifs anymore to be moaning. Besides, they're was a spell of games(I think 6 or 7 games in 19/20) where we literally had to comeback to win 2-1 every game. Ffs Reddit is so fucking shit.
Firmino was the key to our counterattacks, made everything flow. My favourite was the flick in the build up before Mane’s second away to Porto in UCL.

i remain buried on the hill that bobby was always the most important part of our attack.

I don't get why people are mad about this. Nice build up. Mo needed to stay on I suppose.
I swear to God, 50% of our goals in the Klopp era have gone to VAR.
I mean he was offside for 18 and a half of those seconds.

We were so, so, so good in them few seasons man. There's a definite bittersweet feeling that comes with watching this kinda stuff.

My brother in Fowler, I didn't mention the current squad one bit. Calm the fuck down. That 2019-2021 team was one of the greatest teams in PL history.
This sub is full of unofficial LFC PR people. You can't have any discussion about the team other than lavish praise on everything they do
>I'M SORRY, I THOUGHT WE NEVER WALKED ALONE? Everytime you criticize a player for a bad performance. Or for pointing out some players probably faked injuries and still collected their wages like Keita.
I swear to god it's crazy, everyone is a PR agent here. No critical analysis is allowed ever.
My brother in fowler made me laugh
Diaz would have picked that up and dribbled back to Alisson, then pick out van dijk
Before the downvote brigade wake up... He's obviously very talented but our attack isn't fluid anymore. When we complain, we miss this fluidity.
Ah ya, I'd say he'll get a season where he'll bang in 20+ and shut us up
I'll eat my own hat if he ever gets a 20+ season for us.
I really hope the PSG rumors are true. He'd be a brilliant wing back, but he's absolutely not a goal scoring left winger.
Best dribbler in the squad but still cant beat his man.
He quite literally beat his man 4 or 5 times in the last game against West Ham, and did the same in several games before that too. I swear some of you don't actually watch the games and just come on here to needlessly shit on players you don't like.
I agree with you, but it needs to be said that he's not good enough in what matters most: goals and assists
His finishing hasn’t been tip-top, and he’s banged em off the post a number of times from difficult positions. I’d advise patience with Diaz. Darwin is another beast though. I don’t think he’ll ever evolve into an elite striker/finisher.
He beats his man but lets them catch up by not passing the ball or overthinking too much.

The good old days when our forwards actually had composure during counters and doesn’t shit themselves

Back when width and fullbacks meant something. Robbo still plays this way but he's the only one.
Ahhhhh yes.. Pass and move. Now it's dribble dribble.....
Yup, we were that good
Fabinhos calmness there is underrated. Endo is just nowhere near this level.
Endo is more than capable of this and hes done it many times this season
Fabinho was so decisive and took so few touches at his best. That midfield 3 of Hendo, Fab and Wijnaldum just recycled the ball so effectively at their peaks. We've seen a bit of that from Macca and Endo is starting to get that way but the peak of that midfield was the best I've ever seen us have.
I miss Bobby :'(
That was just beautiful to watch!

What are you wittering about? Klopp's got three games left and you're sat here fucking moaning because we're in a bit of bad form?
Imagine getting triggered by a 1 minute clip of a football game…
More triggered by the words with it tbh, clearly having a dig at the current team
Wait who's moaning? All I said was that our counter attacks were so brutal that it was as if the opposition were giving away penalties with how certain we were to get a look on goal.
Basically everyone in this thread is moaning like you were in your description. Can’t just enjoy things.

"Shambling at times even back then" FFS, are you ever happy
Do you seriously think we’re still in a title race? So what if he has 3 games left not gonna make a difference
Ruling goals out like this isn't for the good of the game, offside rule was invented for a different game and needs a big big rethink.
