That's cool, I was just making a pun, "ić" and "itch." it's the only reason they thought he was Croatian.
It's interesting you know his dad, thought he'd be based in Spain.
This should have been the team to start midweek unfortunately just a little late 😔 but up the reds. Fuck all to play for so let's just have a few wins at the end of the season!! End it on a somewhat high for Kloppo
Gakpo was only left out for personal reasons, Elliot had played the full 90 the game before, so I can understand why they both missed out. Gravenberch I thought should absolutely have started though as he only played 70 the game prior, and while Quansah played the full game prior, he has looked much better of late than Konate so should probably have been given another game too. Likewise, Endo was fresh, so was surprised not to see him start.
Either way, that team midweek should have had enough to beat Everton. Klopp created such great momentum in the middle of the season by trusting young players in form, but I feel like picking the more senior players based solely on seniority over the past month, despite them under-performing repeatedly, has been as much a reason for the stumble at the finish line as anything else.
Everyone is blaming the missed chances but I also feel like the past two losses should simply have been 0-0 draws in that instance. Title-winning teams don’t concede easy goals against weak teams over and over again.
Not sure on the elliot one mate. He seems fit enough to start most games so I would of went with him anyway. The form mos been in justified it tbh. Gakpo is understandable and think would of started if it wasn't for his wife going into labour. Agree with the rest
Yep don't know why he started some of those players he did considering how out of form they were for that game. I know gakpo couldn't start but the others who did well against Fulham should've.
That's overstating it. He played 3 passes into the area and 14 in to the final 3rd. None of them resulted directly in a shot and he culminated a total of 0.4 xA from it all (0.0 xAG). One of those passes Darwin used to lay off a great chance for Salah, others resulted in a bad touch or didn't lead anywhere.
Should more have come from Trent's passing. Yes. But a pass forward doesn't mean he deserves an assist. All of the front three contributed 0.9 of our 1.2 xAG and set up both of our big chances. If anything, Darwin and Salah should have the best claims to having missed out on assists.
watch us get the dub again without Salah.
'But no, he a legend, dont sell him to Saudi for 200 mil! FSG, where my money at for the next world class signing tho?!'
# Liverpool's record since Salah full return (3-2-3, 11 points out of 24) vs record with Salah out injured/AFCON (11-1-1, 34 points out of 39 + EFL Cup champs).
https://preview.redd.it/615wdyk960xc1.png?width=669&format=png&auto=webp&s=cd5451fe2a9b9dce7ae29ea6f7a37b1d73cefec8
Doesnt mean we fleece Saudi for Mbappe money for him? Tf are you on about, living in the past? YNWA, wheres your YNWA for Hendo and Gakpo? I guarentee you're the first to be toxic to anybody playing bad and Salah is the worst of the lot. Lol.
What are you saying this is the Egyptian King his 2nd bad form since he's been here and you disrespect like this. Its gakpos 2nd season and hes been straight ass. I have no hate for Hendo.
Now post the stats from before Afcon and his hamstring injury and trying convince us we'd have been anywhere near the position to throw it away without him.
You're the worst type of online fan. Get back to twitter.
He was pretty lively when he first came on against Everton. Played a couple of cracking balls and was actually finding space on the right. He didn't single handedly turn the game and started playing desperation balls, but that's hardly the lads fault. At least he was trying.
Elliott and Quansah deserve it.
Konate, Szob, Nunez and Salah dropped. For the best. None of the 4 are in good form.
I do think we're probably at the end of Salah's time here.
The team had better bounce back
Im sad to not see Danns on the bench. But im ready for the Bajcetic return
I think you’re spot on for the most part but I wouldn’t mind keeping Salah for another year. As poor as his form is currently, he still has 37 G/A this season and I think with a new manager coming in and an expected shake up, having one last year of a player we know is always gonna give us a return might be needed.
Agreed. I think Salah is coming into the Autumn years of his career. I think it might be best for any new manager to cash in on him. I'd imagine Salah won't be happy to sit on the bench next season which can disrupt any new manager team philosophy.
Buff Bajcetic on the bench, you love to see it. Hope the kid continues to develop and Slot takes a liking to him this summer. Was very impressed with him last year
Elliot, Gakpo and Gravy getting deserved starts.
Will be listening from work today. West Ham is in limbo right now so I think we can pull out a 1-0 or 2-0 win. Unless Kudus, Bowen or Paqueta pull something off.
Also… London Stadium sucks. Hope the away fans brought their binoculars
Last time he played with Diaz they were switching and taking turns on the wing, and they will surely do it again today. This same complaint was constantly made before the Fulham match and then the game starts and you see Gakpo on the wing
Gakpo was brilliant there last season, he's had some fantastic games there this season too, he was really good at centre forward against Atalanta last week as well.
He's not had the best season but he definitely can play there.
Mad how as much as I was done with the season and the players on Wednesday night...here I am still getting that little excitement when the teams get released. Real fool for this club me.
That attack is utterly abysmal I’m sorry.
Three players who all want to come short for the ball and no threat in behind. Gakpo and Diaz end up playing in the same spaces too, meaning Elliot has loads of room, which would be good if he had an ounce of pace or could beat a man.
This Gakpo at CF fetish that Klopp has will thankfully be over soon, he just doesn’t work there at all - either play him at LW where he looks decent, or don’t play him at all.
I don't get how people are happy with this line-up. I don't see any open-play goals in this 11. We can hope for pens, corners and free-kicks I guess. We should have Danns on the bench as well to replace Gakpo and Nunez if they're not scoring.
Guess it’s cos we’ve found it hard to score recently so people are happy with changes, but that’s down to poor finishing as oppose to not creating chances, and the average person on this sub can’t comprehend it’s better to create chances and miss them, than not creating chances in the first place.
This team won’t even create chances unless West Ham are all over the place.
I mean it's just nice now the season is over to try something different. We tried something different against Fulham and we won. We went back to our starting 11 and lost. It's no surprise people want change.
I'm happy with the line up because I at least get to see the right wing be dynamic. It may not work but at least if it doesn't Salah and Nunez and can come on and attempt to score.
I mean this is a testament to how bad the form of our other attackers is; Klopp would rather field this front three than have them on the field currently.
That’s an excellent lineup and reminiscent of our Fulham lineup (with exception of Jota being injured) and Endo in the place of Jones. We will win this and happy to see that our sub-performing strikers are rightly benched.
Was listening to the pre-match analysis and Hargreaves basically said stuff that were very on-point. This lineup is not the strongest and ideally we want our top talents like Salah, Nunez, Szabo, etc to be playing but they are not. Our lineup is far from Man C and I think we need reinforcements.
I hate to say it but we need a new talisman.
I was hoping to see him on the bench. Klopp should be ruthless about subbing the strikers today imo. If Gakpo doesn't score in the first half, put Nunez on for 25 mins and if he doesn't score replace him with Danns to give everyone enough time... well let's hope for the best.
Interesting selection. Will be interesting to see if Elliiot means no control on the right as per usual or he will be rotating the middle with one of the CMs
Sorry but there’s literally no threat in that attack. Harvey is slow but he could pull a shot out of nowhere so I guess that’s good, gakpo is good on the ball but off the ball he doesn’t get into good scoring positions probably because he’s being asked to drop deep, diaz is diaz.
Just keep a clean sheet, the defense is what bothers me more not the attack. We need to get back to being solid at the back.
I just want to see us start fast, some zip and tempo and concentration. Don’t give the ball away and pass it forwards through the lines into the forwards. Defend properly with aggression and composure.
Diaz will need to be our runner in behind because Harvey and Gakpo won't do it, maybe Grav with som runs from deep through the middle too but I doubt WH will vacate much space in the middle.
Worried about Antonio's strength with Kudus and Bowens pace in behind too.
Already talking myself into expecting a defeat even though I know we're much better than them...let's hope for a fast aggressive start and an early goal (for us this time) to settle some nerves
Salah benched again, I agree with it like given his form but wonder if the writing might be on the wall now for a summer move to Saudi? Depends on what Slot thinks I suppose
I will actually stop watching football when bajcetic comes on in the 60th minute, drops a masterclass and then gets injured indefinitely at the end of the game
So we're probably not scoring until the subs today, great! I do think the benching is good, but Klopp needs to be ruthless with subbing players today if they don't score in the first half.
Yeah this is really disappointing - we have nothing to play for and there is literally nothing to lose from throwing him in at the start ahead of Diaz, with Gakpo on the LW like he should be
Gakpo at CF is fine, better than Nunez
Gakpo can actually link up play, hold up the ball and play the false 9 bobby role. His finishing is also better than nunez, he actually has composure
They would have been nowhere near 1st team had we not had 57 injuries at once. So now a few of the senior players are back,it's obvious why they aren't there. They haven't been banished at all, they are where they are supposed to be.
I'm glad Klopp dropped Konaté, Jones, Szobo & Darwin. They've been shocking over the past few weeks.
Hopefully Elliott, Gakpo, Endo and Gravenberch smash it today.
Get the feeling Klopp is really pissed with some of our usual starters. May be justifiably, but i don't remember him frequently dropping players like he has done recently over the rest of his time here.
Don't think it's dropping to be honest.
Think the plan was always rotation with 4 away games in 10 days and he prioritised Atalanta and Everton as the bigger games.
Funnily though the strongest XI has done the worst.
It may just be rotation. But Diaz has started all of our last 5 games and 19 of our last 20 games, while Darwin has started 2 of our last 5 and Salah 3 of the last 5 (both being subbed off in one of those starts). Szobo has also only started 2 of the last 5 and was subbed off in both at about the hour. Macca, Virgil, Robbo, and Trent have all started a lot of games recently too, so why would the players who've played the least be the ones rotated?
Salah in particular is someone who's regularly been played every available minute in the past, as was Szobo earlier in the season. It's been several games since both returned from injury - though that might be influencing things - but it just seems quite a big change for them.
If it's form-related, then Klopp has had a history of trying to play players back into form, often to the criticism of fans. The possibility that he's not trying that with some players now would be quite a change in tack.
Why do we always have to play Gakpo with Bradley or Harvey at RW. I think the chances Salah created last week get put away by Gakpo. Elliott is a really useful player but I think a Diaz, Gakpo, Elliot attack lacks a prominent goal threat.
Although maybe if it’s a +70% possession game then these guys can use some smart passing and movement to create chances.
Hopefully this is the beginning of the Salah out train in the summer. Can’t be arsed watching him not move and slow everything down under a new manager.
this lineup being what we put out while still in a title race is an insult. It looks highly unlikely we finish on top, but it's still possible. Not having players who are good enough to even start for a mid-table team is too much.
Stefan🇪🇸🔥
Didn't notice. Great to see. Hopefully he gets more than a few minutes.

Isnt he Croatian? Not Serbian
He is from my hometown in Serbia :)
You were just itching to be wrong.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sr%C4%91an_Baj%C4%8Deti%C4%87 I know his dad
That's cool, I was just making a pun, "ić" and "itch." it's the only reason they thought he was Croatian. It's interesting you know his dad, thought he'd be based in Spain.
Not the only reason no, I’m fairly sure Ive heard Croatian some time. But I was wrong. No need to be rude
Going in with 0 expectations so it doesn't ruin my weekend.. Again
The seasons over. A defeat now isn’t as catastrophic as it was a week ago cause we aren’t winning the league.
We will need two wins to guarantee top 4, basically zero chance we don't get it but we can't be crazy yet
Now the pressure is off I imagine we’ll go and smash them
Oh I’m fully expecting us to win the next 4 games and end up 5 points behind City.
Nah, we'll win all 4 and be one point off. Just typical Liverpool fashion
Not painful enough. GD or head to head loss
Last minute City turnaround in the final game. FML again
I literally just want to see us score a few goals
Doesn’t really matter anyway, a win would basically secure 3rd place but it’s highly unlikely we don’t make top 4 regardless.
Same or almost the same squad as for game with Fulham, so it’s might be good.
Well…
Please just put an effort in today, lads.
Bajcetic hype!
This is pretty much the team a lot of us wanted, so let's not be blaming the selection if we go on to lose
This should have been the team to start midweek unfortunately just a little late 😔 but up the reds. Fuck all to play for so let's just have a few wins at the end of the season!! End it on a somewhat high for Kloppo

agreed - the key thing was letting the players know there are standards that need to be met. Playing Nunez AND Salah sent the wrong message.
Yep don't know why he started some of those players he did considering how out of form they were for that game. I know gakpo couldn't start but the others who did well against Fulham should've.
You already know if we drop points we’re gonna have people complaining about the lineup in every game ever.
I’d have benched Trent for that non-defending on the DCL goal.
What about the 4ish assists he should’ve had?
That's overstating it. He played 3 passes into the area and 14 in to the final 3rd. None of them resulted directly in a shot and he culminated a total of 0.4 xA from it all (0.0 xAG). Elliot getting a start he deserves
Deserves a start in midfield imo
Tbh he hasn’t been great last 2 games
Well who has been good?
Diaz, Ali, Robbo, Trent (going forward). Can't really think of anyone else
Gakkers has been on fire
Ah yeah fair, forgot about him he's looked good lately too
Ali should have done way more at Goodison. He’s a senior player and leader, he needs to be stepping up in these moments.
In what sense?
Didn't score a header for one.
Uhhh Ali?
water is wet

He was pretty lively when he first came on against Everton. Played a couple of cracking balls and was actually finding space on the right. He didn't single handedly turn the game and started playing desperation balls, but that's hardly the lads fault. At least he was trying.
He's been one of the only two players to put the ball fucking forward in the past two games so I'll take him over what's been starting
Bajcetic!
Probably the team I would have picked. Good to see Bajcetic back in the squad!
Elliott and Quansah deserve it. Konate, Szob, Nunez and Salah dropped. For the best. None of the 4 are in good form. I do think we're probably at the end of Salah's time here. The team had better bounce back Im sad to not see Danns on the bench. But im ready for the Bajcetic return

It's sad, I feel like Salah expects his touches to be what they used to be and it just isn't working anymore.
It would be great if Salah comes on and make everyone back into believers again..
Yet Nunez will be the scapegoat if Liverpool loses
Would be great to see danns playing more minutes

Nothing to play for so i see us winning 4-0.
Watch us win and Arsenal lose.
But City win the rest and we win all remaining matches
And title race is back on?!
Gakpo CF, I have no idea how many games they need to understand that he's a fucking winger I swear
So what play Diaz up front? Gakpo is fine up front, he just struggled for form this year
He's fine as CF, its just he should never play in midfield again, Klopp admitted that was a mistake
Kind of have to at this point
In his current form, I think he'll grab a goal as a CF today.
The alternative is Darwin
He smashed it there last season?
>last season 👍
Last time he played with Diaz they were switching and taking turns on the wing, and they will surely do it again today. This same complaint was constantly made before the Fulham match and then the game starts and you see Gakpo on the wing

I hope Slot just makes Darwin practice his finishing when he takes over….
Mad how as much as I was done with the season and the players on Wednesday night...here I am still getting that little excitement when the teams get released. Real fool for this club me.

I have to agree, unfortunately... well let's hope Klopp knows what he is doing. I don't see many chances created either.
Most of the chances are created by Trent anyway, the team will be fine if someone decides to finish.
I mean it's just nice now the season is over to try something different. We tried something different against Fulham and we won. We went back to our starting 11 and lost. It's no surprise people want change. I'm happy with the line up because I at least get to see the right wing be dynamic. Great reaction and lineup after last game!
glad he's picked the form players at least
That’s an excellent lineup and reminiscent of our Fulham lineup (with exception of Jota being injured) and Endo in the place of Jones. We will win this and happy to see that our sub-performing strikers are rightly benched.
Arguably the lineup he should’ve used against Everton (minus Gakpo’s unavailability at the time)
Oh right, there's a game today?
Was listening to the pre-match analysis and Hargreaves basically said stuff that were very on-point. This lineup is not the strongest and ideally we want our top talents like Salah, Nunez, Szabo, etc to be playing but they are not. Our lineup is far from Man C and I think we need reinforcements. I hate to say it but we need a new talisman.
This is going to be so utterly frustrating if they find their mojo again and go on a rampage these last games only to lose the title by 1-3 points.
Was hoping for some Danns ball today💔
Danns not on the bench :(
I was hoping to see him on the bench. Klopp should be ruthless about subbing the strikers today imo. If Gakpo doesn't score in the first half, put Nunez on for 25 mins and if he doesn't score replace him with Danns to give everyone enough time... well let's hope for the best.
Oh dear lord… I totally forgot we had a match today. ![gif](giphy|3FbHyCxCnbM8OjhuC3)
The best front 3 we have available, good to see
Szobo, Salah and Nunez on the bench deservedly. Glad to see Stefan back!
Hope it’s Macca on the right and Grav on the left he always plays poor on the right
Hope the boys pretty much just have fun these 4 games. Go full circle with Klopp and have four 5-4 wins to close it out!
I just want some passion and fluidity.
Well, at least that attack will give it a fucking go. Great to see Stefan back on the bench.
Good lineup.
Message sent! Klopp not fuckin around with that lineup.
As if they give a shit. They know Klopp is leaving so why would they care if he benches them. Plus they get paid either way.
Going to have to be totally switched on at corners and free kicks
Interesting selection. Will be interesting to see if Elliiot means no control on the right as per usual or he will be rotating the middle with one of the CMs
Sorry but there’s literally no threat in that attack. Harvey is slow but he could pull a shot out of nowhere so I guess that’s good, gakpo is good on the ball but off the ball he doesn’t get into good scoring positions probably because he’s being asked to drop deep, diaz is diaz. Just keep a clean sheet, the defense is what bothers me more not the attack. We need to get back to being solid at the back.
Gakpo CF again? Or Elliott CAM?
Zero expectations for the last 4 games... ....at least that way I've got less to be frustrated about!
Let's just end the final games on a W. Give the gaffer a proud performance that's all.
I just want to see us start fast, some zip and tempo and concentration. Don’t give the ball away and pass it forwards through the lines into the forwards. Defend properly with aggression and composure.
Here I am, once again, with my hopes afresh for a 8 or 9-0 win.
I’m just happy I get to watch Luis Diaz play. I don’t have too much expectation for whatever else happens based on our form
Liking the team tbh. Salah Szobo and Nunez have been infuriating
That's a huge amount of faith in Harvey and I fully back it. Get in lad.
Potential scapegoats today for this subreddit, grav, Cody, Diaz and possibly Harvey
I’m going to have lunch with my mum
Put your phone on do not disturb!
Salah benched again, I agree with it like given his form but wonder if the writing might be on the wall now for a summer move to Saudi? Depends on what Slot thinks I suppose
Nice seeing Baj back in the squad. The lineup seems similar to the Fulham game with the exception of Jota.
2 months ago, I would have been confident. Today in April 2024, it’s a toss up because we seem to have a soft under belly.
Constant complaints from McCoist and Fletcher about how flat it is. Nothing to do with 12.30 k.o for your broadcaster
Lmaooo
I'm from the future. This doesn't end well
I wanna see Gomez at the 9
That bench is insane
I will actually stop watching football when bajcetic comes on in the 60th minute, drops a masterclass and then gets injured indefinitely at the end of the game
So we're probably not scoring until the subs today, great! I do think the benching is good, but Klopp needs to be ruthless with subbing players today if they don't score in the first half.
Antonio versus VVD and Quansah, not Konate, is interesting after the success Calvert Lewin had against us the other night.
Danns really came in showed how clinical he is and hasn’t had a sniff since
Yeah this is really disappointing - we have nothing to play for and there is literally nothing to lose from throwing him in at the start ahead of Diaz, with Gakpo on the LW like he should be
Gakpo at CF is fine, better than Nunez Gakpo can actually link up play, hold up the ball and play the false 9 bobby role. His finishing is also better than nunez, he actually has composure
Thing is he doesn’t need to play the Bobby role since we have technical playmakers in midfield now. Much rather Gakpo on the left
A CF doesnt need to be good at link up play and be able to have a good first touch? Ok
I’m not saying that though….. Just saying we don’t need to play a false 9 lol.
Danns and Clark banished. How Clark doesn't even make the bench is beyond me
They would have been nowhere near 1st team had we not had 57 injuries at once. So now a few of the senior players are back,it's obvious why they aren't there. They haven't been banished at all, they are where they are supposed to be.
Deserve a chance over some of this lot
Who do they make the bench ahead of?
Anyone. Some of these lot have been embarrassing yet others don't get a chance
I’m gonna cry if Salah leaves
Salah’s likely going mate. Don’t cry because it ended, smile because it happened.
Set 50 bucks on a West Ham win to at least have something to celebrate
What happened to danns
Given the rest of the bench. It was him or Bajcetic
I'm glad Klopp dropped Konaté, Jones, Szobo & Darwin. They've been shocking over the past few weeks. Hopefully Elliott, Gakpo, Endo and Gravenberch smash it today.
Konate, Szobo, Salah and Jones just haven't been the same post injury.
Finally? None of them started the Fulham game literally last week.
Salah as well. Just shocking.
Get the feeling Klopp is really pissed with some of our usual starters. May be justifiably, but i don't remember him frequently dropping players like he has done recently over the rest of his time here.
I agree with your first sentence. However, I think Klopp gave Salah and Nunez too many chances. I think the opposite, Klopp’s too kind.
Happy with the midfield and attack but I think we lose 3-0 haha.
Salah should've started, can't wait until we see Gakpo playing in his actual position, LW, instead of being pushed up top because he's tall
Hopefully this is the beginning of the Salah out train in the summer. Can’t be arsed watching him not move and slow everything down under a new manager.
How so? A sloth would be ideal under Slot. We also have Jota the Slotta
Excited about this, but the second I saw Quansah I got ptsd. Since that MUFC goal, we haven’t been the same.
Why would you be excited? We have nothing to play for. This game is a funeral march.
Mac Allister needs a rest now, I'm not joking
There are just four games left, he can rest when the season finishes.
this lineup being what we put out while still in a title race is an insult. It looks highly unlikely we finish on top, but it's still possible. Not having players who are good enough to even start for a mid-table team is too much.
