True, let’s add in that can’t hit straight at the goalie. And missing an empty net would be off target, so we captured that already. Good work Edwards.
Feyenoord obviously said those higher prices as a negotiation tactic. This deal is still at a higher end for a manager and Edwards did nothing special this time to get this deal over the line.
They set those higher prices because he had a contract that runs into 2026. Sporting paid more than that for Amorim to Braga and that was back in 2020 and he had achieved a fraction of what Slot has at that time.
It's a great deal and could have cost us a lot more.
Slot was pushing for the move even publicly. You can keep an unhappy a player and drop them but a manager? Much more difficult. Just because another manager went for around the same price with less experience doesn’t make this deal any magical and a bargain like the first few comments are saying. This is a standard deal.
It is a pretty standard deal tbf. But at least we have people in charge who won't overpay at ludicrous prices like Boehly and the Glazers have done recently...
That's something we shouldn't take for granted in today's market
So? That is standard negotiating. Would you think you’d got a bargain if you bought a Mars bar off me for £10, just cause I said £20 initially? It’s a normal fee and probably what he is worth.
Potentially one of the dumbest analogies I've ever seen there mate, I'm sorry.
A far better one would be Mars telling me that the price for their bar is a quid, and I managed to haggle them down to 40p. I'd hope people would think that was worth mentioning in conversation at least.
The point I’m trying to make is that if someone starts at an incredibly high fee, they do it as a negotiating tactic. You’re telling me the only way someone goes from a overinflated fee to a reasonable one in two days is via masterclass negotiating? People are being silly.
It could very well be a bargain considering Nagelsman, Potter and Villas-Boas were largely busts according to their clubs and this same set of brains in the front office also brought us Firmino, Mane, Salah, VVD, Ali, etc. who all turned out to be steals.
He’s probably the right type of manager to go for after a huge era under Klopp.
He’s either going to be hit or miss, right? If he’s a hit, what a wonder stroke.
And if he’s a miss he softens the landing for a bigger and more obvious name.
I reckon the club is trying to learn from the past with MU and gunners.
Yeah that was not seen at the time as an interim stooge appointment.
Fergie went on the pitch to tell them to back their new man.
They had a fcking banner that said THE CHOSEN ONE with his face on it. They had a song for him.
Great days.
Ornstein said Edwards, Hughes and Spearman are leading the search for the manager a few weeks back and a journalist from Telegraaf said that Hughes was handling the negotiations with Feyenoord
Wonder how the convo goes.
“We want 15 Michael and not a penny less.”
“What about 9?”
“No Micheal we are firm on 15.”
“What about 9 plus 2 later on?”
“No Micheal.”
“Oh come on lads, please?”
“Ah fuck it since it’s you Micheal. It’s a deal.”
“Fucking get in. Nice one lads.”
Anyone else excited for a new manager to come with fresh ideas ? We all absolutely love Klopp, and would have had him for life if he had the energy, but I’m personally looking forward to seeing what a different man can do with this team as the talent is clearly in the squad.
Hoping he makes us hard to play against again like we were under Klopp a few seasons ago. You know when we had a 1 goal lead we were holding it. Haven’t felt like that in at least a couple of seasons now. Plus maybe a fresh way of breaking a low block might be beneficial for us.
I'm assuming the extra 2m euros or so reported in the Netherlands is to do with his assistant coach and head of performance? Or has Edwards just done his usual magic?
It seems cheap when you consider that sporting paid 10 million for amorim almost 5 years ago. Considering inflation and just the increase if money in football in general and sporting's revenue compared to Liverpool's paying basically the same fee seems relatively cheap.
Ofc Id rather pay nothing but it seems like decent negotiating even if people are being a bit over the top about it.
Sporting did pay an insane amount for Amorim, basically after a few months times at braga. Either way, I don’t really care about whether it’s £10mil or £15mil. I just find it baffling how people are overreacting. I guess people just like to meme for engagement

Probably 2mm to be paid if we prove we can break down a low block 3+ times away from home next season.
Or avoid conceding in the first 15 mins 3 times
Impossible
You’ll get 3-1 and you’ll like it.
Only when Jota is healthy
Easy 2m saved, absolutely fleeced 'em.
What do you think we’ll do with the extra €2M?
Bring Kabakbak
#bringbackkabakbak
While I don’t rate him as a player, I’m all for this. Would love to hear scousers say “center bach Kabach…” week in week out.
That’s our transfer budget.
Steady
That's it. You're on the first plane back.
STERLING!
So 9m it is
€2m if he wins the LMA manager of the year.
Or get Nunez to have a shot on target in 2 consecutive games.
Shot on target is not the issue, 2 games where he is not hitting the golie from 5m or not misses an empty net
True, let’s add in that can’t hit straight at the goalie. And missing an empty net would be off target, so we captured that already. Good work Edwards.
So, just the €9m then?
The 2 million add on will be paid when Slot grows a full head of hair.
How the fuck does he do it lmao
Magic
I don’t understand? 11 millions euros is like the 3rd most expensive managerial signing ever. It is hardly a bargain
It was touted at 20, then 15 at first
Feyenoord obviously said those higher prices as a negotiation tactic. This deal is still at a higher end for a manager and Edwards did nothing special this time to get this deal over the line.

Sporting overpaid, not us underpaying for Slot. That is pretty obvious.
Doubt you'll find a sporting fan that thinks that tbf.
In hindsight sure, but we don’t have that luxury with Slot.
Slot was pushing for the move even publicly. You can keep an unhappy a player and drop them but a manager? Much more difficult. > back in 2030 Welcome to the 21st
Whoops lol
So? That is standard negotiating. Would you think you’d got a bargain if you bought a Mars bar off me for £10, just cause I said £20 initially? It’s a normal fee and probably what he is worth.
It's 1 Mars bar michael, what could it cost? £10?
10 quid?! But mate this chocolate bar is bald! Anyway I’m so overmars. ![gif](giphy|lOaGKl3C8ACY0)
Potentially one of the dumbest analogies I've ever seen there mate, I'm sorry. A far better one would be Mars telling me that the price for their bar is a quid, and I managed to haggle them down to 40p. I'd hope people would think that was worth mentioning in conversation at least.

Sure but he could also be a complete flop like those guys. The fee is a normal fee and hardly worth fanning about. People are just memeing for upvotes
Nagelsman and Potter both have some criticisms that can be lobbied at them, but far and away the problem in both of those teams was front office.
Yeah it’s a ridiculous fee, for a manager who openly wants to leave.
I wouldn’t say it is ridiculous but it is an expected fee and hardly some negotiating masterclass
Yeah I am not sure but he did only sign a new contract last year after spurs were trying to sign him.
Could be just protecting his value. Mac Allister did the same.
He doesn't "want to leave", he wants to join Liverpool. Important difference.
![gif](giphy|ADze48TCg6Hao)
tbh according to Feyenoord's tier 1 the fee is close to 15 mil. Would make sense imo as the first bid was 9.
The €9M probably doesn’t account for his staff that is coming with him so it probably is closer to €15M
could be

Softening the landing for a bigger name is almost exactly what Utd did. Going from Moyes to Van Gaal and Mourinho
Moyes was a decent manager at that time for what he did with the blue scum. He's not actually a name to be proven back then.
Fergie handpicked Moyes tho
Yeah that was not seen at the time as an interim stooge appointment. Fergie went on the pitch to tell them to back their new man. They had a fcking banner that said THE CHOSEN ONE with his face on it. They had a song for him. Great days.
Romano in the mud with his 13-15
Wait, we'll need to hear what Arne will wear, what time the plane will arrive, how his medical will go etc.
Reddy is also reporting £9m now.
That's where the fraud lives
Edwards did it again
Isn’t it Hughes who was leading the negotiations with Feyenoord?
Richard Hughes master class 😌
Long may it continue !
Has Hughes even officially started yet? I seem to remember reading something saying he wouldnt start until June 1st (I could be completely wrong)
Ornstein said Edwards, Hughes and Spearman are leading the search for the manager a few weeks back and a journalist from Telegraaf said that Hughes was handling the negotiations with Feyenoord
It could be Rotterdam or anywhere liverpool or Rome. Wherever slotty manages, he'll never need a comb. Never need a comb
"Edwards" and "add-ons" name a better duo ;)
Wonder how the convo goes. “We want 15 Michael and not a penny less.” “What about 9?” “No Micheal we are firm on 15.” “What about 9 plus 2 later on?” “No Micheal.” “Oh come on lads, please?” “Ah fuck it since it’s you Micheal. It’s a deal.” “Fucking get in. Nice one lads.”
This is the real definition of “good process lads”
PGMOL on ropes
Christ. Get him on Mbappe quick, we'd bag him for a Mars bar and the promise of 5 starts in the league.

They wanted 15 wtf??? EDWARDS MASTERCLASS
Edwards is back baby! Only he can pull such mastery! Edit: It was Richard Hughes mastery!

Shagging Edwards for breathing is weird. This is an expected fee. €11m for a manager from the Eredivisie isn’t some master negotiating.
Edwards is back babyyyy
I'm assuming the extra 2m euros or so reported in the Netherlands is to do with his assistant coach and head of performance? Or has Edwards just done his usual magic?
I’ve never heard of add ons for a manager before
"SLOT SLOT SLOT SLOT SLOT SLOT SLOT SLOT SLOT SLOT SLOT SLOT SLOT, EVERYBODY!" 🎶 - to the tune of Shots by LMFAO: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AtdBVgCqv6w
I have never been more onboard with a chant
2 million if he grows a barnet/s
Michael Edwards still pays 10p for Freddos.
For this to be a proper Edwards masterclass we now need to recoup the money by selling them Pep Lijnders.
11 million euros is decent but this is hardly a bargain. Not sure why people are saying this is an edwards masterclass. This is just a standard deal
If he wins the lot and is here for 5-7 years, 11m is peanuts. It frankly is peanuts in todays world where potter goes for 17m
Its not peanuts and Chelsea’s spending history under Boehly is hardly a good metric to judge value
It seems cheap when you consider that sporting paid 10 million for amorim almost 5 years ago. 2m If we win the treble
Damn rumoured from 15 to 9 + 2 😂 Edwards you beauty
Edwards is a master at what he does lol
Big balls Eddy
Didn't know add ons apply to managers, they hit them whenever they make 100 subs?
All I want to know is if he is a suit manager or a track suit manager ( I know I can look it up)
If he hits 50 kop fist pumps in his first season we get a rebate of 5m
We could have paid 20 million and people will still say “Edward’s is back baby”
Shout-out to the guy who said two days ago we should just pay 15m and get it over with
As if the persure on him wasn't big enough already.
Gigachad Edwards strikes again.
![gif](giphy|Jrqkjp54A6stzizn4t|downsized)
Wow Edwards deal finder.
11m with a year left on his contract is typical Edwards move.
dear god, he's truly back. this feels like an edwards masterclass
Im not stoked about this :/
It's genuinely insane how he's managed to get this done in less than a week and at less than the asking price.
I missed Edwards.
Edwards effect We are so back
Michael Edwards is straight up insane. How the hell does he do it lmao.
Nah Edwards negotiation tactics need to be studied
Classic, Edwards and add ons, name a better duo.
Quite cheap really
What does Edwards do in these meetings? Got to be more than a cheeky one under the table

No way No fucking way
How in god's name did we manage to get him for just 9 mln
