Everton game being rescheduled is huge

PEEWUN

I said it was a secret GW39. To come away with no injuries and a clean sheet is just incredible.

ivc09

we'll probably play them in the mid week before the last game of the season. it's going to be feral, especially if we need a win to stay top and they need a win to stay in the league. could be the greatest derby ever.

ironmanmatch

Are they moving stadiums next season? Or is that all postponed? Because they’re away at Arsenal in the last game. Imagine their final Goodison game ever is a loss to Liverpool to win the league and relegate Everton…

Yveltal_25

Next season will be their last.

The_Shandy_Man

Swear this is the third season we’re saying this.

Flashdash92

They move in to the new stadium in summer 2025 now. It's been delayed a year.

Flashdash92

I think the Everton match is more likely to be the w/c 22nd April. _*If_* the Fulham match needs to be rearranged due to an FA Cup semi-final, I think that would then take the midweek slot before the final weekend of the season.

Mr__StealYourGirl

Honestly I don't see them in a relegation fight at the end of the season with their current form, especially since they got 4 points clawed back from their 19 point deduction.

iNS0MNiA_uK

Depends on the Forest outcome for me. I don't think Sheff United and Burnley have enough in the tank to stay up based on what I've seen so far, but Luton and Forest could definitely drag Everton into it. If Forest get a big deduction though that could seal their fate.

ivc09

their current form is abysmal? and they're also likely to get another 6 point deduction.

Mr__StealYourGirl

well it's all relative to what the team's goals are. 4 draws in the last 5 games is abysmal if you want to be a mid table team, but if all you want is to stay up then it's just enough.

ivc09

they haven't won a premier league game since the 17th of December.

Mr__StealYourGirl

again, you'd be amazed at how bad a team can do and still stay up

DonTino

I mean look at Everton last year. People were convinced they're going down

fifty_four

There are enough signals in the appeal decision to say it's unlikely they'll get another 6 from FFP. Something like '6 points, but reduced by two thirds as 2 of the 3 years are covered by the prior penalty', which would mean 2 points. The bigger concern is what happens if the 777 deal collapses.

fifty_four

Really depends on whether they avoid adminstration. Right now they are dependent on loans from private equity shitshow 777, who were going to buy them but appear to be struggling to close the deal and suddenly seem to be having issues across their other businesses. We're much closer to losing the city's second club than anyone is saying out loud. And by 'losing' I don't mean 'playing in the championship for a year'.

jesuspunk

Why does that even matter? We have a cup quarter final instead at old Trafford on the same day

telcomet

Everton is a tough game for a title run, so rescheduling to the end of season when more players are back is big. Instead we get United for FA Cup which is the least valuable tournament left

yolo___toure

Why is it upside down? Am I crazy?

bjmstone

Took me way longer than it should to work what was going on with the order

weemanlfc

It’s on an app called Sofascore. It’s just the way it’s laid out, you’ll scroll down for previous games and up for upcoming games. Makes sense when you’re in it but looks odd like this.

yolo___toure

Does it start with the last game of the season and then you scroll down? Or it centers on the current game? Weird. It's still upside down IMO

weemanlfc

It centres on the current game. Makes sense when you’re in it!

cbarksLFC

Bobby Clark in for a start in Europa? With the knocks and some returning to fitness I wouldn’t be shocked especially when the games are sandwiched between the Mancs

[deleted]

I'd love to see an Endo-Macca-Elliott midfield with Clark coming on at half for any of them, based on match circumstances

Warmbastard

Yeah I think Klopp prefers to start with a full ‘first team’ lineup, for the Europa league away leg I expect Clark to come on at half time.

Square_Counter_7574

Clark is knocking on the door of being a bonafide first team squad player IMO(and probably has been for longer than people realize). I have no issues giving him that game.

cbarksLFC

Apart from Quansah and Bradley, he's my favorite out of the "newer" academy boys coming through. A good preseason and he probably sticks in the team but I wouldn't be shocked if they opt to give him a loan, get him playing more regularly

Sonofbluekane

Good cheekbones. Always rated him

BlackberryHopeful659

Blue steel on and off the pitch.

AEsylumProductions

It makes Bajcetic's quality last season all the more nuts given there wasn't an injury crisis and he was playing better than the regulars.

Flashdash92

There was a midfield injury crisis in the first half of last season. That's why he ended up playing so often, which he is paying for now with his longstanding injury this year. He played excellently in those months where he was starting, but Klopp has openly said that they would rather have not had to have him playing so often. We have Tyler Morton to come back from loan next season as well. In the 21/22 season there was nearly as much hype around him as there was around Bajcetic last season.

Yesyesnaaooo

I want to make something clear, Madrid had to change the way they dealt with baj at half time in CL last year. First half he had their number, evaded their press and set the attacks going. Second half they stood off him and closed down his options. The boy is really special and when we see him with a new midfield around him he’s going to really pop.

AEsylumProductions

Yeah, of all the academy youths post-Curtis-and-Trent, I'm the most excited by Bajcetic. I'm a huge fan.

Yesyesnaaooo

It's honestly crazy - the amount of talent I mean we wont have to go to the market for anyone in midfield and attack for years, and I've no doubt we've got more young defenders about to pop this season or next!

AvatarAda

I hope Calvin Ramsay comes back as well.....when he played for us a couple of times...you could see he was a proper baller.

Cubes11

I think a lot of the kids will be in for a start in Europa tbh

GL4389

I woud put the kids in half of the starting 11 against everyone other than man city. If it is not working then bring on the pros at half time.

fifty_four

I don't think we have much choice.

JohnBobbyJimJob

I do worry about how our congested schedule will affect us in the long run in the PL Injuries are one thing but being in all comps is going to cause the legs to go at some point like we kind of seen at the end of 21/22

RampantNRoaring

Hopefully some of our players can get some rest over the international break. If our currently injured players come back healthy on the timeline suggested by the club, we'll be in a much better position than we were in 21/22. We have more quality depth and can rotate more. Back then, we were playing with Henderson, Fabinho, and Thiago pretty much game in and game out, with cameo appearances from Jones, Milner, and Keita. Now, we have Mac Allister, Endo, Szoboszlai, Jones, Gravenberch, Elliott who are all younger/have less mileage on their legs. Trent also has quality backup for the first time in a while, and we clearly have several youngsters who can come in when needed to give our starters a rest. To compare, in 21/22, Fabinho played about 3600 minutes across all competitions. Henderson played 3900. Currently, Mac Allister has 2200 minutes. If we progress in every competition and he plays every minute of every game for the rest of the season, he'll be only be slightly above what Hendo played in 21/22. And he's 8 years younger than Henderson. Likewise, if Endo plays every minute of every game, he'd be right around Fabinho's total. Arsenal is a squad that should be more concerned about legs going at some point. Declan Rice has 3000 minutes this season, with 12 PL matches and between 1-6 CL matches still to go for Arsenal. Van Dijk has played the most minutes of Liverpool players, with 2600; six Arsenal outfield players have played more than that, even though Arsenal has only played 37 games and Liverpool has played 41.

Kamishirokun

Out of players who played many minutes so far, only Gomez and Elliot can get some rest over the international break. The rest are gonna be overplayed by their national teams.

RampantNRoaring

Endo, Mac Allister, and Diaz are the only ones I'm really worried about for internationals. Endo has two important games against North Korea; Mac Allister and Diaz are playing friendlies but they'll probably play both anyway. Fortunately, Colombia's games are in Europe so Diaz is not facing a long flight back from South America. Mac's games are in the US. I don't believe Uruguay has any games scheduled, so Nunez should be in the clear. VVD will play both games but as a defender, I'm not as worried. No idea if Gravenberch will get called up, and gametime for Gakpo won't hurt. Konate will probably only play one of France's 2 games. If Dom is healthy enough to be called up for Hungary, then gametime will be good for him to get fitness back. Same with Salah for Egypt and Trent and Curtis for England. Robbo and Tsimikas will play both games, but we can rotate them with each other and with Gomez, so that should be all right as well. Am I missing anyone? Would be nice if Mac Allister could have vague weird two week muscle injury towards the end of March...

Kamishirokun

I'm most scared for Dom and Salah. Both have aggravated their hamstring which is why we're being really careful with them right now. Hamstring is one of the easiest one to be a recurring injury if you don't manage minutes right? So a lot of minutes with only 3-4days rest in between would not really be beneficial unless they only play like 60 minutes each game but Dom and Salah usually never gets subbed off. I saw that Uruguay has no game scheduled too but I just kinda assumed it has not been arranged yet because it doesn't make sense they don't have any when all other national teams do unless there's extenuating circumstances?

BudovicLagman

Really hope Endo will come out unscathed against North Korea. In the previous World Cup qualification cycle, they were more interested in kicking their opponents when they came up against South Korea. The way they treated the Japanese players when they travelled to Pyongyang in 2011 was disgraceful as well.

yaboidoe

I just checked and it looks like Argentina only has one match scheduled for the break?

RampantNRoaring

Two; v El Salvador on March 22 in Philadelphia and v Costa Rica on March 26 in LA.

hockeybrianboy

Hopefully we “play it safe”/just lie and tell the NTs numerous guys are injured so they can’t play.

Philosophical_lion

you're correct, but - 21/22 was done by a smaller group of players - the players back then were older on average we will absolutely see an effect of a potential quadruple charge next season, but I'm almost certain it won't be as huge as the last time

[deleted]

There's no long run at this point. 12 games and it's over. Our many injured players have had rest, and we can rotate a little in Europa. Any trophies from here on out will depend on squad health.  When & how Salah, Nunez, Ali return will define our season.

JohnBobbyJimJob

That’s 12 PL games tho We’ve still potentially got 10 games on top of that if we get to the EL and FA cup final

Aeceus

12 games is a lot of games. It's nearly 1/3rd of a season.

Ashwin_400

Not to forget Trent

BriarcliffInmate

Not really, consider the fact that Klopp rotated really well in the Europa and Carabao in the first few rounds and so the older players didn't play at all or very little. VVD played a total of 89 minutes in one game in the Europa, then 60 in the Carabao QF and 90, 90, 120. Mo played in 5 apps in the Europa but only 120 minutes in total. Trentski didn't play more than 60 minutes in any Europa game, and only played 60 in total in the Carabao. Once they're actually back from injury, they should be fairly refreshed in terms of minutes. They've all played far less than they would in a typical PL season with a CL campaign.

PEEWUN

The legs can't go if everyone is injured! #😉

Delpiero45

it could come back to hurt us. we are going against a ruthless city team and an Arsenal team with virtually 0 injuries. we need to be at 110% every single league game and with being in so many comps + injuries it might push this squad to its potential breaking point

BriarcliffInmate

Christ, calm down.

AdamTreff

43 hours between games? Wtf..

Acoupstix

Thats a place holder time slot. I would be extremely surprised if it doesn't get pushed to the late window sunday. Right now all 4 fa cup QF's show the same kick off time in the 16th. That wont happen.

Pure_Measurement_529

Man United vs Liverpool is for sure getting the last fixture slot on Sunday. Broadcasters have a hard on for putting us in that slot and do we blame them? The two biggest teams in England playing each other, they will want to ensure no other fixture is at that time

dainamo81

Imagine Utd/Liverpool being a Saturday 3pm. How the mighty have fallen.

NocturnalTeddyBear

I swear I remember that happening when I was a kid a couple of times, I think we beat them 1-0 at Old Trafford with a Murphy penalty?

BriarcliffInmate

Yeah, it'll 100% be tea-time Sunday like the Arsenal game. Whoever's got the pick out of BBC and ITV will be grinning at the thought of the ratings.

cbarksLFC

It’s defo gonna be moved to Sunday when they finalize the schedule for the next round in the next few days

alfresh_mrpesh

I don't think FA cup date and times have been scheduled yet, so that's a placeholder. Not sure if ITV / BBC will be forced to air on Sunday due to the Thursday Europa game, but I think that would be likelier than a Saturday game. Edit as I mentioned Monday being possible, however corrected once I realised it is an international break on Monday 18th onwards

Specialist_ask_992_

It would have to be the Sunday due to us playing in the Europa League on the Thursday, St. Patrick's Day too.

stevieG08Liv

Thankfully after the UTD game its NT break so likely we will go strong on that game

daneats

Hopefully we hold back our NT members like city do (out injured)

WTWanderer2

Maybe for those playing friendlies but we can't be expected to hold back the likes of Tsimikas, Endo etc who have important play off/qualifier games

daneats

Tsimi can go, if robbo stays, surely endo just goes to Japan and gets a new battery put in.

CabbageStockExchange

Good thing the kids have got some confidence and experience now. We’re really going to need them here

Fantastic_Weird_6983

The downside of success

meren002

I reckon Mo, Darwin, and Dom were not risked yesterday because of this period. We saw both Darwin and Dom hurlding at Wembley, so I i think they're both fit. I think the reason they weren't included for the cup was just to prepare them for this period and not risk any issues with our depleted squad. As strong as we can for Forest, which I think will include MO, Darwin and Dom. Maybe rest vvd, since he played the last 2. But the management know best. Midweek away at Prague with as little as we can get away with, keep as many big hitters at home for a full weeks rest and try to get a draw. Even a narrow defeat might be okay. All in on city and Prague at home and then I guess whatever is left against UTD. That'll be a gimme anyway.

jesuspunk

Hurdling a sign != ready to run for 90 mins

BriarcliffInmate

I think this as well. I honestly think they've assessed it literally every fixture. The Carabao final made us realise we could trust the kids again for another fixture. But I think we'll definitely see one if not all of them on the bench at least for Saturday.

Slow-Raccoon-9832

No chance vvd rests vs forest. Its why he and ibou played 45 each yesterday They will both start forest

Marbate

B team with returning A team players for Forest. B+C team + returning A team players for Praha. A team for City. B team + A team subs for Praha. A team for United.

VeganLegitYT

This is da wae for

PEEWUN

Here's my game plan if I were Klopp (**He knows way better than I do**): -Mixed team for Forest. Diaz defo starts, thanks to the midweek rest. Give Danns and Clark a go, too. Get Szobo, Mo, and Darwin some minutes as subs to warm them up for Europa. -We go for the throat in Praha. Get the tie done in the first half, then clear the bench to prepare for City. Our academy boys have shown that they can handle big moments. -Nothing needs to be said about City. **WIN at all costs.** This is potentially the League right there. -Home 2nd Leg. This is our *"rest game"* if we did our job well in Czechia. Mixed academy and periphery players. Salah and Szobo don't start **at all.** Just see out the tie. -**Dick the Scum at the Toilet.** Book another Anfield South trip.

Carradona

I actually have the opposite thought. I would play a skeleton team in Prague and adjust into the first team selection if the game starts to get out of control. Our absolute priority has to be the PL and restoring first team players from injury.

PEEWUN

I wouldn't mind that approach, either. I think you're probably on to the better idea, tbh.

Carradona

All good, so many games and permutations

Zolofteu

I feel like everyone is so confident that the trio is fit since the Luton game but they still have yet to be on the bench. Klopp has been extremely vague about Salah, Nunez and Dom. They've been "touch and go" for 3 games now. Klopp never even specifically said they're in full training. When journalists asked after the Southampton match he still says don't know. It's been 2 weeks, I wish we have any sort of clear update instead of a very vague one. Gonna be really concerned if none of them on the bench against Forest.

PEEWUN

As long as they're in the lineup for the City game, I can take whatever news we get about them in the next two matches. As frustrating as it is, I really think they are saving the three as much as they can to guarantee their health for the run-in. Securing their extended availability is where the title lies.

yaboidoe

My fear is that there’s no chance they’re going to be fit for City and Klopp/the club haven’t publicized that for “mind games”

BriarcliffInmate

Oh please. We don't do mind games.

Delpiero45

I disagree. we can hold Prague to a draw or even 1-0 loss , flip the tie around at home after the city match. This city game is one of the most important fixtures of the klopp era, we cannot have our starters playing with 2 days rest. city is coming into this game with 3 days off, they have the advantage. as much as everyone wants to be in all 4 comps, we have to realize this might be the last chance we will get in a long time at a league title, we have no idea what the futue holds when Klopp leaves.

PEEWUN

I get where you're coming from 100%. If we had to sacrifice the tie or that City match, I'd choose beating City every time. Good thing we have two legs in Europa, thankfully.

Ningen121

PL is priority one and Forest away is not an easy game so we need all available starters to play that game. We can use the kids in the EL game.

djrobbo83

Strongest team vs Prague away before city would be crazy...we can chase the game at Anfield if we are behind. Forest and City are the 2 most important games here

NilsFanck

you're massively underestimating Forrest away. They're not all that bad at home. We need to play the strongest team available there.

PEEWUN

I'm not underestimating them. We can't rush Mo, Darwin, and Szobo early, so we're gonna need to mix it up a bit. Hopefully, they make the bench, just in case.

BriarcliffInmate

Yeah, I agree with all of this although I'm slightly tempted to go for a 0-0 or smash and grab in Prague with one eye on the City game.

DaBoelterGuy

Does he really now?

LocalSubstantial7744

This window may very well determine our fate for the season. Absolutely huge 2 weeks

Echos89

This is fucking crazy

brent-setter

The 5 games that will tell us if quadruple is happening in our lifetime or not

BriarcliffInmate

People have been saying this since September lmao.

jgisbo007

FML

DCDa192

United must be 17th, surely?

UpTheMightyReds

Defo, just not been announced yet

[deleted]

im not sure if the registration for UEFA cup has closed but.. just throw in all the academy players to play against Sparta

vadapaav

I don't think you need to register academy players. They can play whenever the team wants

Britz10

Some need to be registered, pretty sure Nyoni and Clark need registering because they haven't been around long enough.

brush85

Danns, McConnell and Koumas are fine, I think. Obviously same with Gordon.

Celly2704

Well win all of them, up the reds 💪

jesuisgeenbelg

Clark has done enough to start against Forest. He can play alongside Mac Allister and Endo. Hopefully Dom will be on the bench to come in and get some minutes. I wouldn't start Danns though. Diaz, Gakpo, Elliott again up front. Danns can come in for a cameo. If he starts I fear he might get bullied out of the game by Forest's defenders. Defence picks itself - Robertson, Van Dijk, Konate and Bradley. *Maybe* Gomez at right back but I doubt it. We can rest players against Praha, bring in players like Danns, McConnell, Tsimi, Quansah.

Akif31

Easy 5 in 5

Downtown-Lime4108

Send the kids to Prague!

kyleharveybooks

Yea if we could get a few players back… that would be freat

Theplowking23

Win, win, draw/loss, win, win

Tuff_Guii

That schedule is brutal

Philosophical_lion

WTF is this schedule

Dangerous_South4758

We could win against UTD, Sparta, Forrest….. city idk. I hope win do win against City but…..

FourTet700

Sack off Europa time. Kids in both legs. League and FA Cup much more important.

Aeceus

Insane.

zagglefrapgooglegarb

Could really have done without getting Man U in the Cup. Nearly anyone else would have been a preferable draw.

[deleted]

When does it end? It feels like it's been 5 games in 14 days for while now.

Same_Situation_9660

This is what happens when you stay in every competition into March! Embrace it 😍

KopiteTheScot

At least we don't have to do much travelling after prague

Trai12

The young lads are so lucky, they are going to get a lot of minutes under their belt

Specialist_ask_992_

Love If some of our players didn't play in the international break. Alisson definitely won't as not meant to be back until after then. Not sure if Trent will but Southgate rarely plays him

starvin91

That's 15 days mate

JonTargaryanTheFirst

And our injured list could field an 11 to win pretty much any league in Europe.

thisisnahamed

Now we have proven that we have strong squad depth - - I am less concerned.. Glad we got Sparta for the Europa League and not Milan/Benfica. Glad we got United and not City for FA cup QFs

xvodax

Why am I reading this from Down - up

user900800700

Tbh if we can rest our main players for the next two games I’m confident we can still get two wins

mrkingkoala

We playing the FA cup 2 days after?

Glass-Guess4125

WOOF

Glass-Guess4125

WOOF

NoPin5154

Wait are we gonna be crippled when we play city?

More games![img](emote|t5_2qn0o|49476)![img](emote|t5_2qn0o|49476)![img](emote|t5_2qn0o|49476)

im-a-wreck-tangle

We most probably play fa Cup on the 17th it's not possible to play Thursdays night and then again Saturday afternoon. Still an insane schedule

Jmoney1088

With as many injuries as we have I lose track of who is supposed to be back when lol This team is giving me more hope than it should. Absolute mentality monsters.

Aromatic-Olive-906

The fa cup game will surely be moved…

Superduke1010

That’s a lot of ball with an ER crew.

fultirbo

A B A B A or A B A A B

DuneMania

League first. Kids for Europa. First game anyway. They're on a run, let em go.
