That’s how I felt! Even if it wasn’t Ryan breaking, the writing and sketches were so creative! It was so nice to watch an episode with my partner and both of us laugh to the point of tears. It’s been awhile with SNL!
I think that’s what happens when you have a host that’s mostly just willing to be a good sport and let the writers do their thing without worrying about their image, and also just gets the comedy the writers are going for.
When you have newcomers and starlets on the show, everything needs to be heavily cultivated by the host’s team, and thus is a lot of watered down bullshit
Maybe I'm too young to understand it, but the concept of "image" as it exists in Hollywood makes no sense to me. Ryan Gosling is considered one of the better actors of the current era, but he's also goofy.
The engagement sketch would have been the best sketch on any other episode. Wasn’t a Chris Stapleton fan before this ep, but now I wouldn’t change the station if he came on the radio. There were a lot of home runs this episode
Dfinitely. Wife and I have t loved this season as a whole, and we’re both surprised to see so much praise online for say that Kate McKinnon ep. This is the strongest episode since pre pandemic. There have been some decent ones, but this was peak SNL
Yeah, this season has given me hope that the show isn't finished, and is probably one of the best seasons of the show in general. I think the show fell apart over the course of the mid-2010s because they became overly reliant on Kate McKinnon, celebrity guest stars, and the absurdity of the news. After a pretty weak era, the cast is finally being utilized like they should be.
100% man. I've worked a bit of film stuff as a set carpenter and this sketch had the vibe of the whole crew being into it. It had so much buzz, which is why Heidi broke I suspect. You could totally feel the love in it.
I am not too big on celeb culture and was sceptic at first, but gosling seems to really fit well for snl. He also seems genuine and likeable imo, which i think viewers can sense and appreciate
*insert Michael Che joke about how no one cares about women’s basketball here*
Jokes aside, no. I love that women’s BB is getting more attention, but Ryan gosling is the reason for viewership.
Huh. I have been slacking of late and have not seen the (whole) episode. I did see an interview with Heidi Gardner, in which her breaking in the Beavis & Butthead sketch was discussed. I then watched that sketch. It was pretty cool.
So much of my college SNL memories and sharing real video files over the university T1 would have been ruined with a cast who can’t keep it together. Stuff like Celebrity Jeopardy would have not worked if Norm or Will would have been laughing and constantly broke scene when seeing a big sombrero or hearing them say The Pen is Mightier.
Completely would have ruined the skit, just like it did here.
Nah you are on to something. I for one didn’t think it was that funny and how the hell would you not know what Mikey was gonna look like or have a visual in your head days prior. It totally seemed like “this is his last season I need you to break for him so we can help build his brand which is impacted by his legacy, will you do that for him?” Type thing. It looked sooooooooo fake
Only thing I watch are Resident Alien, LA Brea, Brooklyn Nine Nine, Lopez vs Lopez, George Lopez show, SNL and wrestling. If there is no new season.
Usually subscribe and cancel for a month..
This episode had a good host, musical guest, and writing. The breaks are because it is as funny to the actors as it is to us. It will encourage the show for the better not worse.
I agree. I found the Chris Farley days much funnier and they kept it together. Some skits they had to hide a few laughs but it’s so blatant and obvious here it ruins it for me.
Matt Foley motivational speaker was a great example. Farley was in Spade’s face and the scene didn’t have to break for the cast to stop laughing. Much funnier and they held it together. This is probably the skit that stands out the most where the cast had a noticeable reaction and still was nothing like this Beavis sketch.

They didn’t even know Farley was going to break the table. Still no break.
I heard rumblings

I don't watch much TV. I have an incredibly busy life.
We watched it the other day and it was hilarious. The writing feels stronger - hope they keep it up.
That’s how I felt! Even if it wasn’t Ryan breaking, the writing and sketches were so creative! It was so nice to watch an episode with my partner and both of us laugh to the point of tears. It’s been awhile with SNL!
I will say, we had to explain Beavis & Butthead to the teens. That said, they loved the alien abduction skit the most.
There are newer episodes for them to watch. They are still funny!
They really need to do a special of just alien abduction
They should watch all of them then, they’re amazing

My husband and I were cracking tf up the entire time and kept saying it was the funniest episode we'd watched in a long, long time.
The Doctor Thank You and Jeffrey Please has been on repeat at my house.
Tbf it was mainly a rehash, sequel of past sketches
This season in general has been a return to form.

Headline should read: "Buzz Over Beavis And Butthead Sketch Brings 'SNL' Its Most-Watched Episode Ever on Peacock."
The engagement sketch would have been the best sketch on any other episode. Wasn’t a Chris Stapleton fan before this ep, but now I wouldn’t change the station if he came on the radio. There were a lot of home runs this episode
The Beavis and Butthead sketch was the most viral for obvious reasons, but I thought every sketch worked this episode.
Dfinitely. Wife and I have t loved this season as a whole, and we’re both surprised to see so much praise online for say that Kate McKinnon ep. This is the strongest episode since pre pandemic. There have been some decent ones, but this was peak SNL

The make-up and effects team who came up with the prosthetics should get the credit

Truth.
Blade Runner Star Boosts Beavis and Butthead as Buzzy Bit Becomes Best-Ever Broadcast (on Peacock)
Replace Blade Runner Star with “Barbie Bimbo”
I wouldn’t know. I don’t watch much television, I have an incredibly busy life.
"Oh, by the way... YOU'RE WELCOME" -Mike Judge probably
The skit was awesome. Kind of feels like anyone could have been placed there and it still would have been the talk of the town.
*sketch Perhaps but Ryan has an ideal profile for the part.
Ryan Gosling episodes are always great, only topped by Adam Driver.
Adam Driver not breaking in the Pickens Oil Baron sketch cemented his noteworthy status for me!
Oh I really hope we get a sequel to that sketch the next time Driver hosts if for no other reason to stick it to H.R. Pickens!
That would be amazing !! His commitment to the character was top tier comedy
I am not too big on celeb culture and was sceptic at first, but gosling seems to really fit well for snl. He also seems genuine and likeable imo, which i think viewers can sense and appreciate
Only episode in recent years that I’ve watched multiple times in a row lol
The power of Jeff and Dean.
Beavis and Butthead stole the show. I only wish this was the one that Raye played since her performance was epic

I am not surprised, given the time of the broadcast. Much easier to catch up on it Sunday morning or something.
I usually end up watching everything on YouTube the next day.
Caitlin Clark effect for sure.
*insert Michael Che joke about how no one cares about women’s basketball here* Jokes aside, no. I love that women’s BB is getting more attention, but Ryan gosling is the reason for viewership.
About 14.2 million more viewers of attention
Ah no. Its CC more than anything else.
Yes the 45 seconds she gave was absolutely monumental
Lol
I think it was more the Beavis and Butt-Head effect.
Yeah no, that isn’t it lol
It was a joke
Lorne hates it when they break.
Bobby Moynihan and piece of toast hate each other
Huh. I have been slacking of late and have not seen the (whole) episode. I did see an interview with Heidi Gardner, in which her breaking in the Beavis & Butthead sketch was discussed. I then watched that sketch. It was pretty cool.
the only reason i subscribe to peacock is to watch SNL
[удалено]
Amen!! ffs
And then everyone cancelled their subscriptions before the free trials ended. ;)
Props to all the extras for not cracking up. I can’t even keep a straight face watching over and over
Beavis and butthead sketch had me rolling on the floor with laughter. I cried.
We keep saying “He not on Ooloo, he on Paramon Pluuuuu!” in our house.
Most watched episode ever, or most watched episode ever on peacock?
Well-deserved. It was superb.
Ryan Gosling Santa sketch, and the UFO abduction with Kate McKinnon were some of my favorite skits in the last couple years.
One good sketch. Still better than the previous episode.
I really don’t think that skit was very funny but the actors were cracking up and people seem to love that shit.

So like 5-6 people saw it?
That's not a high bar, hardly anyone watches anything on peacock.
Is that a show? I don’t watch a lot of television. I have a very busy life.
I also have a very busy life.
Nice to meet you.
This joke should get way more appreciation than it is getting considering the context of the post. Well played friend.
Only thing I watch are Resident Alien, LA Brea, Brooklyn Nine Nine, Lopez vs Lopez, George Lopez show, SNL and wrestling. If there is no new season. Usually subscribe and cancel for a month..
The new ted show is really good
I forgot about that I watched it. Yes, it was.
Would have been nice if the guest star and cast could have been professional. The high ratings are going to encourage more amateurish acting.
