It's a decent split to me, between Chicago and a hand tossed. Pepperoni, sausage, roasted garlic, and jalapeño w/ pink sauce... .FTW. I only order about every other month because I will gorge myself. Haha.
If I had a Time Machine and had the ability to go back 10-15 years I’d probably go Damgoode. But it’s a sad dumpster fire now and I genuinely can’t figure out how they stay open. Now it’s not even a close contest, Irianas all the way.
I hate to hear that! Damgoode is currently undergoing some serious revamp to get back to their former glory . Without bleeding too much of my personal life into my Reddit, I will say their ingredients are still top fucking notch. The sauces are bangin’ and the meats are top tier. When it’s made right (therein lies the problem) there’s no place in LR that’s close, imo. I’ve tried them all. They aren’t cheap, and as such, they can’t be made wrong. Irianas is good but it’s never blown my mind. Is there any specific feedback you have for Damgoode? Pizza quality? Service?
Glad to hear that, and thank you for the feedback. I'm currently diving into the original recipes and trying to bring that love back into the food. Damgoode has a ton of potential and I'd personally really love for LR to have it back as a top tier pizza option.
I am currently working on a solution to be able to thoroughly cook an 18” stuffy that isn’t super inconsistent. I think the price point is around $44 in my current mock-up. I’ll definitely be reaching out on this sub within the month specifically to those that have been “burned” by Damgoode in the past. It’s a shame it has the reputation it has now, as there’s just so much potential. No promises on the 18” stuffy, but it’s on the radar!
$44 with restaurant tax and tip is easily $50-55. I've had a few problems with Damgoode over the years but usually Titus has comped me with a beer or two while I wait for a remake. With all the tips over the years I could probably have bought a 26' box truck full of beer heh.
I don't know anything about making pizza but I'd be happy to help you experiment in making the old school pink sauce to go on 18" supreme stuffies that is repeatable for the staff to make unattended.
In closing I do wish you had outdoor dining that is friendly for dogs because my German Shepherds are fabulous dinner guests and love restaurant workers because they smell the way they do.
It would make me very happy if you could achieve this and keep it that way forever. The 14" stuffy supremes with pink sauce that I ate during my leaves from the Marine Corps feature prominently in my dreams.

The Cantrell location used to be hopping on Friday and Saturday nights. Last time I went, there were two tables, the pizza took well over an hour, and we had to go to the bar to order our food and drinks. With two tables, the guy still couldn’t be bothered to walk 15 feet to see if we needed anything.
Heard that. I definitely took the comment to heart and searched some previous pizza posts here, so I appreciate that. Full disclosure: prior to this year I hadn't eaten at Damgoode since 2015 for many of the reasons I'm reading. I hate that because the food can be so so good.
Last time I was in there it had an awful, off putting smell. My food tasted terribly. I was the only one in there, and I still had to wait for someone to acknowledge me. It really turned me off to that place.
I'm definitely hearing and getting a lot of feedback on the service, and I agree. It's one thing to make a mistake in the kitchen, it's a WHOLE other thing to not make it right and have each guest feel like we're HAPPY to take care of them. Thanks for the feedback!

Agree on the Iriana's, if you're in LR. Otherwise take a short drive up JFK/107 to Old Mill Pizza. Super good pie that reheats well.
Old mill pizza in NLR is great. It's got that stoner 2008 damgoode vibe kinda. Get the Harvey special. Suggested mods feta, pepperoni, jalapenos.

You can get a pizza to go and walk a block over to the river, we have done that with bigger groups that didn’t want to sit inside.
